IMMIGRATION officials at East Midlands Airport refused a visa to allow Barack Obama's half brother to enter the UK, it has emerged.

A Home Office spokesman told a national newspaper that Kenya-based Samson Obama – also known as Abo – supplied false details as he tried to get into Britain on his way to Washington for the historic inauguration of President Obama in January. But immigration officials at East Midlands Airport spotted that one of the documents he supplied with his visa application was false.

This meant he could not enter Britain officially, but did not hamper his efforts to get to the US. He was allowed to catch a flight to the US as he remained in transit and never left the airport.

The flight attendant said Samson claimed he had never travelled before and proudly showed her a headed letter from his half-brother requesting his three-week visa to the USA.Last night a Home Office spokesman confirmed Samson Obama was refused a visa after immigration officers noticed one of the documents he supplied with his visa application was false.
