FROM THE NEW ORLEANS VIVA PALESTINA SITE:
Those of us who have been in the midst of a humanitarian crisis, as we New Orleanians have been, know that it’s relief workers and all the world's people of goodwill who spring into action, while government officials deny there's a crisis at all, then point fingers at one another and appear in self-congratulatory press conferences to announce what needs to be done and what they’re going to do. In the case of Gaza, however, Western, and even some Arab, governments, have rushed to declare their support for Israel, the ever-imagined victim, whose unprecedented brutal offensive against Gazans is pretended to have been defensive action, while Gazans' dire need of food, water, and medical attention and supplies worsens by the hour. Despite Israel’s claims to the contrary, its two-year siege against the Gaza Strip and its 1.5 million inhabitants continues, now more oppressive than ever.
Just as everyone in the world became New Orleanians during the worst part of our crisis in 2005, we have all become Gazans in solidarity with them. Although the experiences of New Orleanians in recent years pale by comparison to the misery inflicted on Gazans by Israel, we can still identify with them and attempt to imagine their unimaginable suffering at the hands of Israel's unthinkable war crimes against them
Up coming events worldwide, get involved, donate, download the script for "Seven Jewish Children" (you can find this on my blog) and do the play in your town, collect donations, help Gaza, feel good about yourselves for doing the right thing and helping people and remember to boycott all things you buy in your grocery store with bar codes that begin with 729 as they come from Israel and may even be from stolen Palestinian land!! help in your own way, but help!!
March 7-14 is Gaza Awareness Week. Please donate now, and in the coming week raise funds and awareness among your friends and family.
Boycott Israel, hit them where it hurts in their wallet!!!Don't buy from things they grow on stolen land!!
