Fatah & Hamas Unity Deal Thoughts

A friend pointed me to a report this morning which I already had read but will now post on it. The report states that Hamas will refuse the unity agreement with FATAH over “the right to resist.” Now, upon first read of the article you may form one opinion. But perhaps we should read between the lines here. As we must remember back in August 2009, immediately after the long awaited, much over due, manipulated FATAH conference as well. First today’s report regarding Hamas:
Reports from The Associated Press said Hamas leadership in Syria, and several other factions with leaders in exile there, rejected the Egyptian proposal for unity with its rival Fatah party in a Thursday report. Members of Fatah signed the agreement Wednesday, putting the onus on Hamas to sign and finalize the unity deal. Eight factions, unnamed but for Hamas in the AP report, issued a joint statement calling for the revision of the Egyptian plan to include the right of Palestinians to resist the Israeli occupation of the West Bank, East Jerusalem and Gaza.source
Now let’s remember this from August 2009 after the FATAH conference:
Renewing its charter for the first time in two decades, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas’s Fatah movement reiterated on Sunday, August 9, the Palestinian right to resist the Israeli occupation, angering Tel Aviv.

"Fatah stresses its commitment to the pursuit of a comprehensive peace but reiterates the Palestinian people's right to resistance to occupation in all its forms in line with international law," reads the new charter cited by Agence France-Presse (AFP).

"… we will not drop any options and we believe resistance in all its forms is a legitimate right of occupied peoples in confronting their occupiers." source
so here’s my initial off the cuff, not long thought out reaction, subject to change should I have more time to think about it politically and strategically that is ;o) But, my first inclination is that obviously, the position of the “right to resist” technically exists in both FATAH and HAMAS charters, as stated above in both articles.

Having said that, why would this now be a stumbling block? Could it be that the Egyptian proposals exclude the right to resist? If so then FATAH would need to change its charter as well as Hamas. And that would mean another FATAH conference. And I have not seen where FATAH have done this as their last conference was in August which retained the Palestinian right to resist. Additionally there are members and factions within FATAH that would never drop this right, nor would allow Abbas to give that right away. So it could be to destabilise and create some inner turmoil within FATAH factions who will then be informing Abbas that the right to resist cannot be traded away in Egypt or anywhere else without a vote.

So what else could it be then? Well, it could be that Hamas wants to ensure FATAH don’t drop this right in future. It could be that Hamas is forcing Abbas to reiterate what was decided at the conference in August 2009, in order to ensure that the right to resist is NOT off the table should any unity deal take place with Hamas and FATAH. Hamas would know that on the heels of the Abbas/Goldstone nightmare, that Abbas could never get away with dropping the right to resist at this time, even if he wanted to. so this places FATAH in a position of having to re-iterate it's position on the "right to resist" and thus could be paving the way for some unity deal perhaps. This is what I would tend to go with for now. I believe that Hamas is forcing Abbas and FATAH to re-state, in no uncertain terms that it remains true to its own August 2009 Charter which includes the Right To Resist, this move may be the ground laying for a possible unity deal, once that right is reiterated by FATAH and not for trade. Time will tell, we don’t have all the facts so we can only guess right now.

I think in addition to your analysis Hamas and the other factions want Fatah to indirectly say no to the Quartet ideas that ask to recognize "Israel" and to renounce violence i.e resistance. The other day the US told Egypt the talks should include the recognition of Quartet rules.
I think they are also buying time to see what is going to happen with the Goldstone report.

Mashaal and Haneyya said many times:the force is the only language that zionist understand, and resistance is the only path to fight against zionist!
And that the real and only truth!!
Palestinians need to stop with thoose pointless peace talks and start to fight with military force!
But regarding words "peace talks" palestinians vs.israelis, well thats also a very big joke!!
THERE WERE ANY PEACE TALKS IN PALESTINE IN THE PAST OR NOW IN THE PRESENT,PALESTINIANS NEVER IN THEIR LIFE NEGOTIATE WITH THE ISRAELIS!!WHY?WELL THE TRUTH IS VERY SIMPLE-ALL THOOSE PALESTINIANS WHO TALKED TO ISRAEL ABOUT PEACE ARE NOT PALESTINIANS,THEY ARE ISRAEL COLABORATORS!
THERE HAS NEVER BEEN A PEACE TALK WHERE true PALESTINIAN OFFICIAL TALKED TO AN ISRAELI OFFICIAL!
yasser arafat and now abbas didnt do anything to defend palestinian rights, they are booth big traitors to palestinian people!
i always lost a temper big time when someone mentions the name yasser arafat, specialy because many people consider him a great palestinian leader!well thoose people should learn a history little bit more, arafat was an total idiot,he turn against him many big potencial parter goverments,he was also a great israeli puppet, who never gave anything to palestinians but he gave israel very much,do the people even realize how much money did he recive from the world powers, but gave not a dolar to palestinian people!?
and then finaly when israel get bord with him and want to find a new puppet they order abbas and dahlan to poison him!
but the most discusting thing for me was when he shake hands with the israeli who trash the scule with his legs of a young palestinian one!

Part 2

Regarding realisticbird coment, well when you look that coment i see that he knows how the things work regarding the palestinian issue,on 1 hand, but on another hand,well......to explain:
"Hamas and the other factions want Fatah to indirectly say no to the Quartet ideas that ask to recognize "Israel" and to renounce violence i.e resistance."-FATAH FUNDS HIMSELF FORM THE MONEY OF USA AND ISRAEL GOVERMENT,WITHOUT THEM THEY WOULDNT BE ABLE TO CONTROL AND HAVE A POWER IN THE WEST BANK,THEY WILL NOT HAVE ANYTHING,SO HOW CAN YOU THINK THAT FATAH WILL REJECT THE QUARTET TERMS!?But i agree that hamas is very smart in the decision to wait for a while to see what will be with the goldstone report!
"The other day the US told Egypt the talks should include the recognition of Quartet rules."-THEY didnt TOLD them, they ORDERED them, thats a very big diference!Egypt is a usa and israeli puppet who will do everything to impose unfair agrement to hamas to sign!
i realy dont know why people think that egypt will do anything for hamas, they are hamas enemies people, wake up!
Of couse that egypt will present to hamas an agrement which includes quartet terms because they know they will not sign that never!

Part 3
THERE IS NO WAY THAT HAMAS AND FATAH WILL SIGN A FAIR AGREMENT,WHAT EVER AGREMENT WILL BE PRESENTED THAT AGREMENT WILL ALWAYS BENEFIT FATAH!

palestine is in very shity and hard situation right now, specialy for hamas.
i dont know what will be hamas next step, but i hope they will not fall into any kind of trap!
I TRUST THEM 100 %!

WHAT I KNOW IS THAT THE CRUCIAL STEP FOR PALESTINE SURELY IS THIS:
fatah needs to go down, specialy top people in fatah!
palestinians from the west bank must throw them away, and new people inside fatah need to emerge, the new leaders who will stand up against israelis with the military resistance!
only them when palestine party are unite, get rid of quartet states, find a new ways from other goverments to fund themselfs and become strong, the world will finaly start to listen!
trust me!if palestinan partys all become 1 and unite with the same gold and with every posible means to defend palestine the world will found its self in the position where they will have to think diferently regarding palestinian issue!
TO refer on the Irish article about al-aqsa...well its the same thing,if palestinians dont unite and use the right for military resistance al-aqsa will for sure go to the history
