A fine example of how low Israelis can truly go. In order to win a prestigious prize, a Zionist asshat enters a poetry contest for Arabs, pretending to be an Arab, using a fake name. Now, I can just imagine what would happen to an Arab pretending to be an Israeli, can't you? Probably be interrogated, tortured, beaten and then jailed without charge. I'm all for equality, so jail her and throw away the key, for life. After all Zionism is a racist crime against humanity.

One name sticks out from the list of winners in the prestigious El Hizjra poetry competition intended for Dutch Arabs, which was announced last week - Tuvit Shlomi, press officer for Holland's largest Zionist group.

For this reason, Shlomi - who works for the Center for Information and Documentation Israel (CIDI) - submitted her two winning poems written in Dutch under an Arab pseudonym. "I did it to ensure my work is judged on content, not background," she says, in reference to the often-tense relations between local Jews and Dutch Arabs (She did it in order to CHEAT, that is what they do, CHEAT)

"Winning the competition is an opportunity for me to show that I'm rooted in the Middle East just as much as the other applicants. That Israel is for me what Morocco is for them," said Shlomi, who had lived in Israel for a year, frequently visits the country and speaks fluent Hebrew.

The pseudonym which Shlomi selected was Wallada bint al-Mustaqfi, an opinionated 11th century Arab-Andalucian poetess and proto-feminist who spurned the hijab, kept multiple lovers and embroidered fragments of her poetry onto her clothes. Israel Places Baby Under House Arrest

This is not fiction, this is politics, the child is from the occupied Golan Heights, but he was born in Syria.

His mother and father are from Majdal Shams, one of the biggest villages in the Syrian Golan Heights, occupied by Israel.

He was born in Syria because at that time his parents were studying at the Damascus University in Damascus.

After completing their education in Syria they returned back to their village with their newborn, but were informed by the Israeli Authorities that their child cannot leave home for two years because he was born in Syria.

The child, Fahid Lu’ay Shqeir, is now one year old and two months, he has to remain imprisoned in his parents’ home until he becomes 2. After that, other “legal procedures will still be needed to ensure that he will be allowed to stay in the country”.

The Tishreen (October) Syrian newspaper reported that this is an unprecedented event as the child, who will want to play and run like other children, will practically be “arrested” if he leaves home because he is considered Syrian, and Syria is still regarded by Israel as an enemy state.

His family and parents contacted several international human rights groups and appealed them to intervene to resolve this issue as it is unimaginable that this child cannot even go for a walk with his parents.

This issue is yet another Israeli violation to human rights and the Fourth Geneva Conventions. Under the Israeli law, a child born to Jewish parents or a Jewish parent will be automatically considered Israeli and will be granted Israeli citizenship with no questions asked.

But this child is an Arab, born to a mother and father who are from the Golan Heights.

By law; the Golan Heights are under Israeli control, and therefore a child born to a parent, or both parents, from the Golan or another place should be allowed to carry the nationality of his/her parents, and should be granted citizenship or at least residency rights in their country of origin.source

Arabs Put Peace Plan to Obama

AMMAN (JT) - A delegation comprising seven Arab foreign ministers as well as Arab League Secretary General Amr Musa is expected in Amman on Saturday, Prime Minister Nader Dahabi said Thursday.

The delegation is scheduled to discuss with His Majesty King Abdullah his upcoming visit to Washington and his talks with US President Barack Obama, Dahabi said at a meeting with chief editors of daily newspapers.

“We are keen to familiarise the Obama administration with our position. The administration wants to understand the positions of the parties involved before taking any action,” he said.

The deal offers Israel collective Arab recognition in exchange for Israeli withdrawal from territories it occupied in the 1967 war, the establishment of a Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital and a just solution to the problem of Palestinian refugees.source

A decision by Israel's state-owned railway company to sack 150 Arab workers because they have not served in the army has been denounced as "unlawful" and "racist" this week by Arab legal and workers' rights groups.

The new policy, which applies to guards at train crossing points, is being implemented even though the country's Arab citizens -- numbering 1.2 million and nearly one-fifth of the total population -- have been exempt from serving in the military since Israel's establishment.

Ahmed Tibi, an Arab member of the Israeli parliament, complained to Israel Railways and the attorney general last week, arguing that the move was meant "to cleanse the railways of Arab employees."

"It is an especially grave matter as this is a public company whose operations are meant to benefit all citizens," he said.

The Laborers' Voice, a workers' rights group based in Nazareth, said the new condition of employment was designed to reserve rail jobs for Jews, most of whom are conscripted for three years after finishing school.

It added that Israel Railways was following dozens of other major Israeli firms and thousands of small businesses that keep jobs off limits to Arab workers by defining the roles as security related. MORE HERE

Demolition plans rattle Arabs in Jerusalem

JERUSALEM // It was a bitterly cold and wet morning to spend outdoors. But for those who gathered at a makeshift tent in the Bustan neighbourhood of Silwan, East Jerusalem, on Sunday morning, it is a situation they fear they may have to get used to.

“I hope it won’t get to that,” said Saleh Shweiki, 56, an herbologist and local resident whose house is threatened with demolition by Jerusalem’s municipal authorities. “I have 13 children and with their children we are 35 people in my house.”

Mr Shweiki and 87 families have lived under the threat of demolition for nearly four years now. The demolition orders were handed down because, according to the municipality, the houses were built without licences in what is designated as a national park area.

Residents, human rights groups and lawyers are crying foul, however. They say the demolition orders are part of a larger Israeli scheme to make life untenable for Jerusalem’s Palestinian inhabitants.

Furthermore, the City of David archaeological park that the area is meant for is funded by a controversial Israeli organisation, El Ad, which is active in promoting building in areas of occupied East Jerusalem exclusively for Jewish housing and in transgression of international law.

The demolition orders were first handed down in 2005, but an international outcry prevented demolitions from being carried out then. A compromise was reached whereby the residents would, at their own expense, put forward a plan for the development of the area.

On Feb 17, however, the municipality rejected that plan. The new mayor in Jerusalem, Nir Barkat, promised more Jewish settlement in the occupied eastern part of the city during his campaign for office. Moreover, he left Ehud Olmert’s Kadima Party because he was adamantly opposed to any future division of the city.

“This is a battle for Jerusalem, make no mistake about it,” said Abed Shalode of the Popular Committee for the Defence of Silwan, a local grassroots organisation that is fighting the demolition orders.

“They [Israelis] may put different reasons for why they want these houses down to why they built Maaleh Admumim [the largest settlement in the occupied West Bank], but the aim is the same. They want Palestinians out.”
