When "American's" think of "The Holocaust" one name springs to mind, Elie Wiesel. He is a writer, professor, political activist, Nobel Laureate and Holocaust survivor, written 57 books AND he's been on Oprah ;o) For a walking Holocaust Advert, you'd think he'd want to stay well away from "Anti-Semitism" but not so........Max Blumenthal has a piece out after his visit to the 1st J-Street Conference:
On October 25, while an overflow crowd of 1,500 poured into the first convention of the progressive-leaning Israel-oriented lobbying organization J Street, Elie Wiesel addressed a crowd of 6,000 Christian Zionists at Pastor John Hagee's "Night To Honor Israel." According to the San Antonio Express News, while Wiesel sat by his side, Hagee trashed President Barack Obama, baselessly accusing him of "being tougher on Israel than on Russia, Iran, China and North Korea."
Meanwhile, Israeli Ambassador Michael Oren, who appeared at Hagee's Christians United for Israel summit earlier this year, rejected J Street's request to speak at their convention, instead dispatching a low-level embassy official to "observe" the event. Oren then accused J Street of "impair[ing] Israel's interests."
In blessing Hagee while damning J Street, Wiesel and Oren chose an anti-Semitic group led by a far-right End Times theology preacher over a fledgling progressive organization that bills itself as "pro-Israel, pro-peace." And both Wiesel and Oren seem to be embroiled in yet another controversy over involvement with the extremist preacher.
"My dear pastor when I hear that Christians are getting together in order to defend the people of Israel, of course it brings joy to my heart," Wiesel told Hagee in a September 3 interview. "And it simply says, look, people have learned from history." (Hagee is hawking DVD's of his Wiesel interview for $15 each on his personal website, turning footage of the encounter into a windfall profit.)More after video below:

I have written a few posts about J-Street in the past. So those interested in my views can read about J-Street and my thoughts about them here. I've said it before and I'm saying it again now, I wish that no foreign lobby group held power over American politicians and American government, BUT, American politics being what they are this is a sad fact of political life that shows no signs of changing. That said, it's better that the Government be dealing with people like J-Street who seem to hold more level headed views. They are against a war with Iran, they are in support of a Palestinian state and a whole host of other positive ideals where the I/P conflict is concerned. They are holding a conference in Washington in October and I would suggest Americans get out and support this, because the alternative is this, this, this, this, this, this, and this.

Yes, we are witnessing “Jew Wars” with the emergence of J-Street, now the Zio-Jihadists are none too happy that J-Street is having much success with their more rational policies which include; negotiations, not war, returning stolen land for peace, no war on Iran, and a whole host of other rational starting positions. The group, going by the name Z Street, intends to "serve as an educational force" and "a proud banner" behind which Zionists can rally, according to its founding documents. The group's founders (All two of them) believe the current period is a "time of great danger to the Jewish State of Israel and, increasingly, to world Jewry," warranting the establishment of a new, unabashedly Zionist advocacy group.
"We need to show everyone that it isn't only those on the left who know how to organize," said Lori Lowenthal Marcus, a long-time Zionist activist(well there's one member) and, with Allyson Rowen Taylor, a Z Street founder. (And bringing up the rear, we have member number two!)
In contrast, in her inaugural blog post on behalf of Z Street, Marcus declared: "No more appeasement, no more negotiating with terrorists, no more enabling cowards who fear offending more than they fear another Holocaust

Z Street's first major public act in the offline world is to be a pro-Israel rally at the White House on October 27, 2009 that is the same week that J Street holds its first annual meeting in Washington D.C.
So they are made to sound like a formidable group judging from this big article, right? And they are now planning on “taking it to the streets” (excuse the pun) or rather, to Washington in a show of force against J-Street. Well, have a look at the "impressive" site of this “formidable” organisation. The only post is one big massive Zio-Jihadist Rant in the first and only post. Now, here’s J-Street Info, which is in line with the Obama Administration's (public policy on the I/P conflict if you believe him that is!),along with the Arab states, and the Palestinian agreed position, including the recent position of Hamas and Syria as well in order to achieve a lasting peace in the Middle East:

So there you have it folks, let the “Jew Wars” begin. Now this is important: I have said it before, so I’m saying it again. I prefer that NO foreign country, including Israel, has huge lobby groups that influence American politicians, funnel money to them, and basically buy them. Having said that, American politics being what it is, a big money game, these groups will never disappear. So, I'm rooting for the "sane" people over the "insane" people because it is a place to start inside the "cesspool" of lobby groups of America. In the meantime, it is far better that J-Street has Obama's ear, rather than the Zio-Jihadists. However, If J Street begins to change it's political position, then you can drop your support like a Hot Potato at that time. But for now, it's the rational against the irrational, if you are an American, I suggest you get over to J-street and get on their mailing list, help them have a show of "People on the Ground" force against the Zio-Jihadists come October in Washington when they may, by then, have more than just "two" members, perhaps by borrowing some from AIPAC, the ZOA and the ADL.Videos and links follow:
Two months ago I wrote this new pro-Israel group called "J Street"who are challenging the right wing neocon Nazis at AIPAC. Read my post HERE regarding them and for background info along with my cautious views. So, I thought I would post this below as J-Street has made news in England recently. Additionally, I have included two videos by J-Street which I believe are important to view.
The most powerful Jewish lobby in America is facing an unprecedented threat from a rival pro-peace pressure group that is vying for the ear of President Barack Obama. For the past 25 years, the influential and hawkish American Israel Public Affairs Committee (Aipac) has helped thwart every US presidential effort to deliver Middle East peace on terms it was unhappy with. The lobby’s legendary stranglehold over US foreign policy is now receding with the rise of J Street, which describes itself as the “political arm of the pro-Israel, pro-peace movement”.
Jeremy Ben-Ami, J Street’s executive director, said: “We want to give a voice to the majority of the American Jewish community that is liberal and open and isn’t supportive of settlements, opposed the Iraq war and isn’t keen on a war with Iran.” J Street recently released a YouTube video, complete with threatening sound effects, which condemned the “incendiary and racist” campaigning tactics of Israel’s new foreign minister, Avigdor Lieberman. Even activists were stunned by the boldness of the attack.
It argues that despite the liberal sympathies of most Jewish Americans, a narrow group of Right-wingers have skewed the debate over Israel in the US. While American Jews will reflexively support Israel if they feel the security of the state is threatened by an enemy like Iran, a majority is also in favour of a “two-state solution” for Israel and the Palestinians and favours diplomacy over military force. More than 78 per cent of American Jews supported Mr Obama in November’s US election.
In the past, however, many senators, congressmen and presidential candidates who favour an end to settlements and certain blueprints for a negotiated two-state solution have been afraid to incur the wrath of Aipac.
J Street’s rise to prominence comes as the Obma administration is preparing to lock horns with Israel’s new hardline government led by Benjamin Netanyahu, who is due to meet the US president in Washington next month.
The meeting may also prove to be the first time in decades that a US president engages in a serious discussion with an Israeli prime minister about the damage that the settlement activity - including land confiscation, bypass roads and housing demolitions - does to the peacemaking process.
Thanks to J Street’s video, the mood in the US towards Mr Lieberman is now so hostile that he may not even come to Washington.
J Street, which marked its first anniversary last week, was founded with the specific aim of ending Aipac’s influence over US foreign policy. J Street alleges that Aipac has needlessly prolonged the Middle East conflict and its activities are not in the best interests of either Israel or America. Aipac which rarely seeks publicity, declined to discuss J Street or its aims with the Sunday Telegraph.
Alone among Jewish groups, J Street sharply criticised Israel’s recent military offensive against Hamas in Gaza.
“While there is nothing 'right’ in raining rockets on Israeli families or dispatching suicide bombers, there is nothing ’right’ in punishing a million and a half already-suffering Gazans for the actions of the extremists among them,” the organisation told its members.
In twelve months J Street has mushroomed, becoming Washington’s leading pro-Israel political action committee. Its success has surprised founding members like Joel Rubin, who expected Aipac to act more aggressively to try to snuff out the new organisation, perhaps by leaning on its major donors. “They missed an opportunity and it is too late now,” he said.
Using sophisticated online organising techniques, fundraising and YouTube attack videos - as Mr Obama did in his run for the White House - the peace lobby has managed to outmanoeuvre the better funded Aipac.
It attracted more than 100 co-sponsors in Congress for a resolution welcoming Mr Obama’s appointment of the former Northern Ireland peace negotiator George Mitchell as his Middle East envoy. Aipac has remained conspicuously silent about Mr Mitchell’s appointment.
“The notion that 100 members of Congress are willing to sign on is a real accomplishment,” said Mr Ben-Ami. “We’re not changing the world, but it’s a signal that things are shifting.”
Not all American liberal Jewish leaders are enthusiastic about J Street. Rabbi Eric Yoffie, president of the Union for Reform Judaism, condemned its position on the Gaza invasion as “morally deficient”, “appallingly naive” and “out of touch” with mainstream Jewish opinion.
WASHINGTON, DC – A new J Street poll finds that large majorities of American Jews support US President Barack Obama's active engagement in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, even if that means exerting pressure and publicly disagreeing with Israel.
American Jews would also like the United States to deal with a Palestinian unity government that includes Hamas in pursuit of a peace agreement, a position at odds with current US and Israeli policy shunning Hamas.
The poll, commissioned by the dovish pro-Israel lobby and released Monday, also reports that American Jews are evenly split between those who support a US military attack on Iran if it is on the verge of acquiring nuclear weapons and those who oppose a military attack in those circumstances. The finding mirrors a similar result in an American Jewish Committee poll last year.
Relating to the recent elections in Israel, the survey also asked about Avigdor Lieberman, who is likely to become Israel's next foreign minister.
With 62 percent name recognition, the poll found that Lieberman has only a 27 percent favourability rating in comparison to 74 percent for Obama, 58 percent for incoming Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and 53 percent for current Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni.
They also found that 69 percent disagreed with Lieberman's views in which he "has previously called for the execution of Arab members of Israel's parliament who met with Hamas and whose main campaign message called for Arab citizens of Israel to sign a loyalty oath to the Jewish state in order to prevent their citizenship from being revoked".
Additionally, 32 percent said him becoming a senior minister in the government "weakens my personal connection to Israel because Lieberman's positions go against my core values" while 58 percent said it would not affect their feelings towards Israel and 10 percent said it would strengthen them.

In today’s entry I want to write a bit about the Jewish Lobby in America. For a great many years it has been controlled by a right wing Neocon Zionist organization called AIPAC. Extremely powerful, it is quite rare for any congressman, Senator, or most importantly, any President to get elected without being in the pocket of AIPAC. In today’s entry I will not be going into great depth about AIPAC, which will be another entry. However, after some reflection I want to tell people about an alternative to AIPAC that is starting up the the USA.
On a personal note, Whilst I would prefer that no lobby group representing another country hold great power over American politicians, because to do so means they influence American Foreign Policy in the world. Basically this takes away the politician’s ability to decide the best course for America, without undue influence from Israel. But, American politics being what it is, this will never happen sadly. So, I am being a “realist.” and today I want to introduce people to this new American Israeli Lobby group called “J Street.” As they are a FAR better alternative to AIPAC and appear to have the ability to be reasoned with, I say cautiously.
AIPAC, which calls itself “America’s Pro-Israel Lobby,” is considered among the most powerful lobbies in America. It raises money to promote a conservative definition of American “support” for Israel, one in which Israeli interests and Arab interests are defined in opposition, particularly pressing its case to members of Congress and successive administrations. It is close to many influential donors and organizations who raise and spend hundreds of thousands of dollars each election cycle to fund candidates with the same view. It also possesses an intimidating number of members — more than 100,000 — whom it has cultivated over its 30-year history. Against J Street’s $1.5 million budget for 2008 — for which it has only raised half so far, according to Ben-Ami, from mostly wealthy donors — is AIPAC’s operating budget of nearly $100 million.
More substantially, AIPAC and its occasional allies, like the Zionist Organization of America, are not above intimating that its political opponents are anti-Semetic — as with the campaign against John Mearshimer and Stephen Walt’s critical book “The Israel Lobby” — something that causes politicians to hew to a circumscribed discussion of Israel policy for fear of being labeled as prejudiced or offending the lobby.
Right-leaning Jewish political action committees raised and spent at least $5 million in every federal election cycle since 1990, according to the Center for Responsive Politics, with 35 distinct entities and many more individuals spending $10 million in the 2006 cycle alone. That has contributed to an ugly cycle of debate, where some who question the lobby’s influence suggest that Jews play an out-sized and nefarious role in U.S. politics; and the lobby’s allies in the media — a right-leaning group that includes Fox News, The Wall Street Journal editorial page, the New York Post, the Weekly Standard, Commentary and New Republic magazines, as well as a bevy of commentators — often counter-suggest that criticism of Israel is prima facie anti-Semetic.
Jews are not immune to the charge of anti-Semitism emanating from AIPAC or its allies. Last month, the Zionist Organization of America denounced the director of Hillel at Harvard University, Bernie Steinberg, for “violating the Jewish law of not bearing false witness, and playing into the hands of Israel’s enemies.” Steinberg had allowed Hillel to display an exhibit on human-rights violations committed by the Israeli military.
AIPAC’s allies have already suggested that J Street may not achieve much. “Let a thousand flowers bloom,” its former executive director, Morris Amitay, told the leading Jewish newspaper, The Forward, for today’s edition. “The question is, will they have any effect on pro-Israel initiatives in Congress? I’m guessing they won’t.”
Others go further than that. Asked on the phone if J Street would add any value to the debate about Israel, Morton Klein, president of the Zionist Organization of America — which some consider more hard-line than AIPAC — responded simply, “No.”
Klein said. “All they’re telling me is that they want a Hamas-like state in Judea and Samaria like the one in Gaza. My eyes are open. Their eyes are closed.” Judea and Samaria are the Jewish biblical names for the West Bank of the Jordan River.
AIPAC and other right-wing Jewish groups opened their wallets (and gave to US Politicians), yet liberal Jewish groups did not. As a result, Rosenberg continued, the majority of members of Congress are “inflexibly hawkish on Israel, because it’s the safe position. But that can change. Take the fear away of those there — the fear that the lobby is gonna get them.”
The two founders are expecting their actions to attract a backlash from right-wing Jewish groups and the media outlets who present a conservative line on Israel. Already, The New Republic is reportedly preparing an article attacking J Street.
As stated, you can see how powerful AIPAC is and J Street is an alternative to the powerful AIPAC for American politics. They support talking to Iran; they are against the recent Israeli aggression into Gaza. They believe that the Middle East situation can and should be resolved by talking and Politics, not war. This is a good start to getting somewhere and a huge change in the mindset of Israeli American lobby groups.
J Street has had some success so far despite AIPAC’s attempt to destroy it; however, it continually comes under attack from AIPAC and Zionist groups, pro-Zionist media and Pro Zionist politicians. The two men who are behind the creation of J Street are leading liberal Jews. Firstly, Jeremy Ben-Ami the former Clinton administration domestic policy adviser who also was a former policy director for Howard Dean’s 2004 presidential campaign The second man is Daniel Levy the former Israeli peace negotiator.

Apr. 29, 2008 For years, liberal American Jews who have chafed under the taboo against criticizing Israel have dreamed of starting a political organization that would speak for them. Now, with the launch of J Street, that dream has become a reality.
Jeremy Ben-Ami, the group's founder, says that the incident that drove him over the edge took place when he was working as policy director for Howard Dean's 2004 presidential campaign. Dean said the U.S. should take an "evenhanded" approach to resolving the Israeli-Palestinian crisis, Ben-Ami recalled. He was immediately, and predictably, savaged as anti-Israeli and a coddler of terrorists. "All hell broke loose," Ben-Ami said. "And this from a man who's married to a Jewish woman, who's raising kids in the Jewish faith, and is extremely pro-Israel in everything he'd ever said and done. But to use that one word, and then to have that cascade into a torrent, was just amazing to me. And it's certainly been repeated and magnified with the attacks on Obama and some of his aides, some of them crossing any line that any of us should have about civil discourse."
The taboo isn't only enforced by such personal matters, of course. It's also aggressively enforced by powerful Jewish lobbies like AIPAC, mainstream Jewish groups and leaders like Abraham Foxman, national director of the Anti-Defamation League, who claim to speak on behalf of all Jews. Congress, intimidated by the moral authority (or moral blackmail) and political clout wielded by these organizations and afraid of offending Jewish donors who are a major force in Democratic fundraising, invariably falls into line. The fact that Congress has staked out a position on Israel to the right of the Bush administration's pretty much says it all.
That debate has been skewed, Ben-Ami said, because most liberal American Jews have a broad range of interests and are not obsessed with Israel, whereas their hard-line counterparts tend to be focused on that single issue. This means that although the loudest voices on Israel come from the right, large numbers of American Jews hold much more moderate positions.
Ben-Ami sees J Street as an extension of the new liberal mood of decentralized, bottom-up political action — a development in which the Jewish community, in his view, has lagged behind. And that’s a wave of change that has yet to hit the Jewish community.” Ben-Ami envisions a move away from “a small number of large donors essentially holding the community hostage” to its right-wing political views and instead moving toward “an online, netroots feel to endorsements and activism.”
So, what exactly is J Street all about then? To give you an idea, here is part of the statement they issued during the attack on Gaza, on January 4th this was released:

J Street reiterates its call for strong and immediate American diplomatic leadership to bring an end to the violence through an immediate ceasefire.
as Americans and as friends and supporters of Israel, we do not believe the continuation of the present military operation is in the best interests of either the United States or Israel. Rallies and protests in Iraq and Afghanistan in opposition to the Gaza now bring the conflict squarely into arenas where American troops are actively deployed. Demonstrations throughout the Middle East and the Muslim world indicate that this week’s events are only further damaging America’s image, interests and relationships around the world.
It is time for a new direction for American foreign policy in the Middle East, and J Street calls on President-elect Obama and the new Congress convening this week to work actively and immediately – with international support – to reach a ceasefire that stops the violence, ends the rockets and lifts the blockade of Gaza.
The United States must understand that this week’s events did not occur in a vacuum of just Hamas’ rocket fire and Israel’s military response. The situation is also influenced by the ongoing blockade of Gaza and its impact on the one and a half million residents of Gaza as well as the larger political conflict between Israel and the Palestinian people which, unresolved, continues to fuel deepening anger, violence and death.
Without an immediate end to the present violence, hundreds more will die and be injured in the coming days and weeks, including innocent civilians on both sides. Anger against Israel, the United States and moderate Arab regimes will continue to rise –
While armed conflict may inflict serious – though temporary – damage and loss on Hamas, it will likely enhance the movement’s political strength, not only in Gaza but on the West Bank and regionally.
The most important question we asked last Saturday remains: what is the end game? If the goal is a negotiated end to the rocket fire – then let negotiations begin now.
So as we can see, a more rational approach from J Street as opposed to Zionist AIPAC. A starting point to begin from, a new direction in American politics based on reasoning, rather than Nazi style force with AIPAC. I say again, there is NO getting away from Jewish lobby groups in American politics, the best that American’s can do is to help the left leaning groups like J Street to break the strangle hold of the Neocon Zionist groups like AIPAC who now control American politics and politicians at the most highest levels.
So, for this reason alone, I am placing a J Street graphic on this blog, and I would encourage others to do the same.
