FATAH & HAMAS AGREE UNITY DEAL

I thought this was coming. Two days ago I said this when Hamas told Egypt it wanted more time and then delivered a message to Abbas ensuring the Palestinian “right to resist” remained intact:
So what else could it be then? Well, it could be that Hamas wants to ensure FATAH don’t drop this right in future. It could be that Hamas is forcing Abbas to reiterate what was decided at the conference in August 2009, in order to ensure that the right to resist is NOT off the table should any unity deal take place with Hamas and FATAH.
Egypt then delayed the date of signing for Hamas, And it now appears that Hamas has studied the deal and now feels assured the right to resist will remain a Palestinian right.
The Hamas movement announced on Friday it was ready to accept the national reconciliation agreement and that it was scheduled to be signed on 26 October.

Ahmad Yousef, a senior official at the de facto Ministry of Foreign Affairs, told Ma'an in a telephone interview that "after holding intensive consultations, the movement will deliver its positive stance toward the Egyptian proposal on Saturday, with a few minor notes."

"From the beginning, Hamas never objected to the Egyptian proposal, but needed time to clarify a few points, particularly the conditions placed by the [International] Quartet," he added, referring to demands that Hamas recognize Israel, renounce violence and accept previously signed agreements before being allowed to participate in negotiations.
True that in the past there have been conflicting reports regarding a “completed” unity deal that Hamas was “going to sign up to”, many of these “reports” were created by the US/FATAH and Israel team in an attempt to pressure Hamas and spread false information to cause unrest within the Hamas organisation. Now it appears that Hamas has finished assessing the situation and now feel assured over sections that concerned their party. So, judging on the next report, I think we can all assume it’s a done deal this time. AS Egypt has just released ALL Hamas members it held held in its jails, they are now free to return to Gaza. Now, that’s the writing on the wall, the deal is done, that’s why Egypt has released them:
Cairo sources: Egypt has released Hamas men from custody
Egypt has released almost all the Hamas men it had held in custody and has allowed them to return to the Gaza Strip, Israel Radio quoted security officials in Cairo as saying on Friday night.

P.S. NOTE For Saladin: will discuss with you later all the issues you requested, got in late from the concert and knackered now:)

HAMAS IS THE ONLY PARTY IN PALESTINE THAT HAS TO TAKE CREDIT FOR FIGHTING AGAINST ISRAELIS!!

AND IF IN THE FUTURE THE HISTORY BOOKS WRITE THAT HAMAS AND FATAH BOOTH EQUALY CONTRIBUTED TO LIBERATION OF PALESTINE,THAT WILL BE VERY SAD!!

IN THE END LOOKS LIKE THAT REGARDING FATAH SHAMEFUL COLABORATION WITH ISRAEL FOR YEARS AND ISRAELI GENOCIDE THROUGH LAST 6O YEARS.WE WILL NEVER READ THOOSE SUBJECTS IN THE HISTORY BOOKS!

Ok you posted this url from maan http://www.maannews.net/eng/ViewDetails.aspx?ID=232845
Excerpt:

“Hamas examination and commentary on the Egyptian conciliation plan will be completed Saturday, and a high-profile delegation headed by deputy head of the movement’s politburo Mousa Abu Marzouq will head to Cairo Sunday to deliver the official response, senior Hamas leader Ayman Taha said.

“Hamas has no reservations [on the conciliation plan], but will highlight some issues that the Egyptians forgot to include in their plan. These are issues which have been agreed on before,” Taha said in an interview.”

Saladin, I am no mind reader, but I know what it is to move from armed conflict to politics and negotiations for peace. First thing is very important for Hamas. They will need their supporters to trust them and give them some space. I would assume that at this time they themselves are still working out what they need in order to readily sign up. I would assume there are numerous discussions and leadership meetings taking place both inside Gaza and in other places. I would also assume, from the language being used, that this deal is very very close.

Now, if people think the armed struggle was a rough time, they are in for a shock, entering into a peace process is much harder than fighting an armed struggle, MUCH harder. And for Hamas they even had an additional problem, they are forced to work with another party who has a history of giving far too many concessions to US/Israel and getting nothing in return. In Ireland we also had this problem as well, there were two Nationalist parties, Sinn Fein (supported the armed struggle) the party I support, and the SDLP (against armed struggle), who could be compared to FATAH.

IF, and I say “IF” there is a unity deal, then what Hamas need more than anything is for their supporters to get on board and stand behind them. As they will have far enough problems with FATAH, US/Israel and other factions attempting to destroy any moving forward. So they will need their supporters to be strong and support them this gives them more power.

In Ireland talking to our supporters and getting them on board in order to bring them along in the process was one of the hardest things. People have to move from an Armed Soldier frame of mind, to a political strategy frame of mind. Hams will need to ensure that its political strategy is clear to their supporters all along the way, and the supporters will have to give trust to the leadership, otherwise nothing will ever change. This is not to say that Hams would accept anything offered by US/Israel/FATAH. They will know the time if/when they are forced to walk away due to Israeli/US intransigence. Remember we had several cease fires before the British became serious about peace.

Unfortunately for Hamas, they have very limited options. Israel has unlimited supplies of state of the art weapons, hamas does not. They have less than our people had here, AND they are trapped inside Gaza, we were not trapped behind borders. Hamas does not have US support, In Ireland we had some American support, believe it or not, there were Irish-Americans who helped to fund the Irish armed struggle and supported it. Times are different now, 9-11 changed everything for “real” freedom fighters.

In summation, right now I believe that Hamas should enjoy support for those who have been supporters. They need this now, it’s a part people can play to help them now. People need to take things one day at a time right now, and not get ahead of themselves, if that makes sense. And remember that many so called “news” articles are nothing more than planted by opposing forces to create unrest among Hamas supporters. The British had and still have a strategy for this, they publish real facts, and then mix them with absurd nonsense, which is meant to cast doubt weaken their opponents position among supporters. We must all remember that. On to your next link now

“He noted that the lawsuit would be separate from Hamas’ consideration of the Egyptian conciliation proposal, for which a delegation of members would head to Cairo to discuss on Sunday.

"There are a few standing problems with the text of the agreement," Az-Zahar said, and "we are ready to make an opportunity for all involved to create the right atmosphere to sign the paper."”

>>>>I see no problems here in this article that point to a unity agreement failure. This is real politics, nothing more. By that I mean that the two parties will continue to fight political battles between them, this is politics, and this is good.

Example: Here in Ireland we still have these same exact things taking place all the time, it never ends. Right now we are fighting to have “Policing And Justice” transferred and implemented into our assembly, this was promised to us years ago in the Good Friday Agreement, but it still has not taken place and the Unionists are fighting us to keep it from being implemented. This is a political battle. It is part and parcel of the long process we undertook years ago when we signed the Mitchell Principles and the Good Friday Agreement. As I said before nothing happens overnight, it is never easy to get your opponents to give you what they promised, you have to keep fighting them, our battle is now a political one as opposed to an armed one. This is what Hamas supporters will have to get their heads around when they move from armed struggle to political struggle, it's still a war you know:)

I am not worried at this particular point in time, this is just the beginning, things are taking place behind the scenes right now that we are all unaware of. But I do believe that they will be signing up to the unity agreement and being taking on the political fight with FATAH before the elections. Which I personally think is a good move politically for them, barring any unforeseen complications by the US and Israel that is!!!!!! But for now that’s my gut feeling.

>>>>>>I say:
Listen comrade; you must not let what you read effect you. This is all part of the game and there will be many people with all sorts of differing opinions. There will be people who will trust the leadership to remain loyal to their core strategy, and there will be people who would never accept anything other than Israel being bombed into the sea by Hamas, a most unrealistic point of view I might add.

This is how it was here as well Saladin. We had to fight this battle as well here, but we had a strong political ground game and kept our people informed of our strategy all along the way, this is important. It’s important to let your supporters know what to expect, and it is important for Hamas to make sure people know they are not abandoning their goals, but are merely taking the fight to another venue, a political one.

As I said before it is STILL a war, but a political one. Which is far more important than an armed one, because in a political war you can win real concessions if you play your hand right. What is good for Palestine is that the world is very focused on them right now, this should be taken advantage of IMHO. And for them to do that, they need some solid support.

Imagine if you will, what if all Hamas supporters broke up into smaller, split, tiny factions with support split among many other groups and factions. HOW would Hamas hold any bargaining power in any unity government IF they do not have a large strong solid support base?

FATAH already has the support of the US and Israel, so hamas NEEDS people to support them if they are to gain anything politically, see my point there>?

Because one very bad scenario I could envision, would be if they had no support and the US/Israel were able to create some manufactured situation which then allowed Israel to enter Gaza again and complete the job it originally intended to do when it invaded in December last year. Operation Cast Lead was really intended to take the government out, the infrastructure out, render Gaza un-governable and un-manageable for any Hamas members remaining afterwards. This is why Israel atteked the police station and police first!! Follwed by govt buildings and then the Gaza infrastructure like cement factories etc, Israel failed though and were left with the current situation of being labelled war criminals LOL, but that is not to say they and the US could not set of some bomb somewhere and then show claim trumped up co called “proof” that it was hamas, and use this for another invasion, In which afterwards they’d plant FATAH there to run Gaza.

The coming times will be very difficult and if hamas is to have any success at all, they will need support and trust in their leadership. People should not just jump to conclusions based on news articles, which could have an agenda.

Just my opinion

i have to make some posts now:)
