It is absolutely no accident that Alan Dershowitz singled Rabbi Michael Lerner out for special opprobrium in his most recent Jerusalem Post and Huffington Post columns and that local Bay Area Jewish pogromists decided shortly thereafter to “party” at Lerner’s home. They defaced it with the slogans and themes they could’ve learned at Dersh’s knee:

The attackers used a powerful form of glue to attach posters to his door and around the property of his home attacking Lerner personally, and attacking liberals and progressives as being supporters of terrorism and “Islamo-fascism.” They posted a printed bumper sticker saying “fight terror–support Israel” next to a caricature of Judge Goldstone whose UN report on Israel’s human rights violations in its attack on Gaza last year has been denounced as anti-Semitic and pro-terror by right wingers in Israel and the U.S.. The caricature has Goldstone talking about his being kept from his grandson’s bar mitzvah, and the caricature of Rabbi Lerner responds by saying “any enemy of Israel is a friend of mine.” read the reast here

ISRAEL SLIPPING DOWN THE LIST

Here's an interesting little piece of info. Israel is not the most "favoured" nation in America. In fact, Israel came in 5th.

LINK Israel ranked fifth among countries viewed most favorably by Americans, a new poll found.Israel finished behind Canada, Britain, Germany and Japan in a February Gallup survey.

However, if you are an American and ever needed a reason as to why you should vote Democrat, here it is:

Israel was the only country rated this year that is viewed more favorably by Republicans, with 80 percent of respondents identifying as Republicans viewing the country favorably, compared with 53 percent of Democrats.

Now, given the fact that Israel controls the major media outlets in the US, the Palestinians only came in at this:

Some 20 percent of respondents viewed the Palestinian Authority favorably, an improvement over last year’s total of 15 percent, placing it fourth from the bottom.

Still this is an improvement, and actually it is quite telling. Because if this figure has grown since last year, even with the under reported news and all the Zio-Hasbara being spun 24/7 on US television, in fact, if Americans were to actually be exposed to real news I would imagine this number would sky rocket and Israel would be in serious trouble.

It is undeniably true that Jewish fundamentalists wield disproportionate
power in Israeli decision-making; it is true that a small minority --
fundamentalist settlers -- has kept Israel entangled in the lives of the
Palestinians on the West Bank; it is true that, because of the power of the
Orthodox rabbinate, it is easier in some ways to be Jewish in America than in
the Jewish state (Just ask women who try to pray at the Western Wall.) All this
is not to say that Israel isn't still the most enlightened democracy in the
Middle East, but there's not much of a competition. And it should be cause for
deep worry when the Saudis -- not especially known for their liberalism -- have
a point about illiberal Israel.

What I found telling was MoDo's more recent column in which she came up with the following brilliant formulation that reflects on the pro-Israel voices so over-represented in the MSM punditariat:

Obama created an obstacle for himself by demanding that Israel stop expanding
settlements when it was not going to do so — even though it should — and when
that wasn’t the most important condition to Arabs

Got that? Now I have no idea what Maureen means when she says that a settlement freeze "wasn’t the most important condition to Arabs." Much that I've read seemed to suggest that the various Sunni Arab regimes were looking for precisely a freezing of further Israeli colonization of the West Bank as proof that Obama really was going to break from the whatever-Israel-wants policy of the previous eight years.

But notice that it is Obama's fault for asking an alleged ally merely to freeze - not reverse - construction settlement as a good faith gesture to the peace process and as a favor to the US in trying to recapture the role of an honest broker in the region. It is not Israel's fault - even though Maureen thinks Israel should have done it.

Nothing illustrates better the total bizarreness of the US-Israel relationship. No one in Washington - apart from a few Likudniks and Palinite end-timers - actually supports more settlements or any settlements i the West Bank. At the same time, Washington exercizes a UN veto to protect Israel from international law, funnels a vast amount of foreign and military aid to the country, helped finance the pulverization of Gaza last year, provides absurd international cover for Israel's 150 nukes, has worked tirelessly to prevent Iran from gaining nuclear capacity, and on and on.

In return? Fuck you, Obama. To which the overwhelming response in Washington is: Obama screwed up.

There is something completely awry here and it has rarely been more evident than in the last twelve months.

The US Congress is a considering a bipartisan resolution which would officially reject the findings of Judge Goldstone’s report on the Gaza war and call on President Obama and Secretary of State Clinton to use the US veto to prevent a vote on the report in the United Nations Security Council. A vote on the bill, House Resolution 867, is expected by this coming weekend.
It is urgent that you call both your Senators and your Congressperson today and tell them to vote against this outrageous bill. You can read the bill here. It ignores the conclusions of the Goldstone Report and simply parrots Israeli government denial.

Judge Goldstone has challenged the US to substantiate its claim that his report is "flawed." President Obama and Secretary of State Clinton have made no response. The carefully researched and documented report deserves a response, not a veto. The people of Gaza, who were brutally attacked, deserve a hearing. What message are we sending to the rest of the world when we grant Israel complete impunity?

This legislation has very important implications beyond the war crimes committed in Gaza. Israel has responded to the report by demanding the Western powers rewrite international and US law, warning that acceptance of the Goldstone report will mean that the US’ military campaigns in Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan will be subject to similar scrutiny. This legislation also ignores serious allegations that Israel has violated the US Arms Export Control Act.

Obama, I mean "O-Bush" agrees to continue to allow Israel to hide their nuclear weapons and will not require them to sign the Nuclear Non-proliferation Treaty like Iran and everyone else is required to do. Of course, you people DO realise that O-Bush is basically allowing "one" state to have weapons of mass destruction and de-arming everyone else. Wonder why? US President Barack Obama has decided not to press Israel to give international monitors access to its nuclear weapons, the Washington Times reported Saturday
Three officials told the Washington Times that during their meting in May Obama gave Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu guarantees that he will keep a four-decade-old secret understanding between the US and Israel over its nuclear program and won't pressure the Jewish state to sign the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.

Israeli expert Avner Cohen told the American newspaper that under the agreement the US passively accepts Israel's nuclear weapons status as long as Israel does not unveil publicly its capability or test a weapon.

Israel feared that Obama, who has made nuclear nonproliferation and disarmament one of his key initiatives, would not uphold the agreement, which was reached in 1969 between then-US President Richard Nixon and former Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir.

The Washington Times report said Netanyahu asked Obama to reaffirm the agreement due to fears that during its negotiations with the six world powers over its uranium enrichment program Iran may demand the exposure of Israel's nuclear arsenal.

It is not clear whether Iran had in fact made such a demand during Thursday's talks between its chief nuclear negotiator Saeed Jalili and US Under Secretary of State William Burns in Geneva.source

2. Destroy and make a laughing stock of new American President and any plans the US may have of achieving peace in the Middle East whilst taking billions annually off American taxpayers…..CHECK

3. Drag America into the gutter, making it the 2nd most hated country in the world, so Israel has a friend in the gutter…………….CHECK

4. Don’t admit to having nukes, don’t sign the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty like Iran did and don’t allow any inspectors into your nuclear facilities like Iran does……………..CHECK

Having all but completed numbers 1, 2 and 3, and having fully completed number 4, we now move on to the final goals on the checklist, number 5 and 6

5. Attack Iran, attempt to create a 2nd Palestine, using US sanctions to create a siege, and using Israeli military in an attempt to take out the government and then control all borders after the attack. Thus making Israel the King and controller of the entire Middle East………..CHECK

Israel will attack Iran's nuclear facilities before the end of the year if the West has not launched an attempt to destroy the (Democratically Elected Government) regime with crippling sanctions, a former senior defence official has claimed.

Ephraim Sneh, Israel's deputy defence minister until 2007, said No Israeli government could put its faith in President Barack Obama's efforts to bring Tehran to the negotiating table over its nuclear programme, he said.

"The Israeli government is the only entity that is responsible for the existence of the Jewish people," he said. "Iran has been explicit in its hostility to Israel time and again. They would use these weapons. America! And Israel has nukes)
