Anti-Semitism=A Word to Fit Every Situation

Jeff Gates asks the Trillion dollar question; "What is Anti-Semitism?" And whilst Jeff wrote a whole big impressive article about it (below). I could have saved Jeff all that typing because I can answer the question in one wee sentance. What is Anti-Semitism? Why it's the "catch all comeback line" for anything Israel wants to avoid dealing with. Anyone, or anything remotely critical of the Zionist State. Here's what Jeff has to say:

link Jeff Gates considers how the definition of “anti-Semitism” has been broadened to an extent where any questioning of Israel’s relationship with or penetration of the United States political system, or of anything pertaining to 9/11 or the US’s war on Iraq, is deemed “anti-Semitic” and may pose a risk to the reputation or even the life of the questioner.

Several of us among the incurably curious asked ourselves a simple question: what is anti-Semitism? The fact that it must be written with a capital “S” says a lot.

Then we realized it also morphs. To that feature I can attest. In November 2002, I met a “John Doe” in London who proposed a research challenge. While meeting that challenge, I encountered various versions of anti-Semitism.

A colleague advised against this challenge. First, he fretted at the criminal nature of what the research has since confirmed. Then he inquired about my safety. That said a lot.

The colleague was MIT Professor Noam Chomsky. For his criticism of Israeli policy, he was attacked as a self-hating Jew. Were he not Jewish, doubtless he would have been an anti-Semite. For critics of Israel, those are the only two options. He cautioned me:

You’ll get the same thing: anti-Semitic, Holocaust denier, want to kill all the Jews, etc. It doesn’t matter what the facts are. Bear in mind that you are dealing with intellectuals, that is, what we call “commissars” and “apparatchiks” in enemy states.

Is anti-Semitism a geopolitical strategy? If so, for what purpose? Character assassination?

Ten months ago, I met Professor William Robinson at the University of California Santa Barbara campus. We met soon after he was attacked by the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) and its smear team.

Robinson had read Guilt By Association, the first release based on this research. His question mirrored Prof. Chomsky’s concern: “Are they going to kill me?” he asked. They are those who smear anyone critical of Israeli policy.

Anti-Semitism – A license to kill?

To his class on globalization, Robinson provided an email link to a photo essay critical of Israeli policy that had been circulating online for weeks. When two students complained to the ADL (Anti-Defamation League), its attack troops insisted on Robinson’s removal while its national network urged alumni to threaten the withholding of gifts and bequests to the university.

Word quickly spread among academics nationwide. That time-critical ADL strategy silenced on-campus criticism of the Israeli assault on Gaza. Is it anti-Semitic to suggest that’s how anti-Semitism works?

When the ADL intimidates on a national scale, does anti-Semitism morph into something even more sinister? The Gaza assault killed 1,400, including 400 Palestinian children. That slaughter was scheduled during America’s political and media “down time” – between Christmas 2008 and the January 2009 inaugural of Barack Obama.

Is it anti-Semitic to suggest a strategic motive behind the timing of Israel’s latest barbarity?

Then there’s the motive for 9/11. Is it anti-Semitic to raise that taboo subject? Ask those members of the 9/11 Commission who objected m—successfully – when the chair and vice-chair proposed hearings on the motivation for that high-profile provocation.

Instead, Americans were left to cope with the results of an overwrought reaction to an unexplained mass murder too quickly blamed on “Islamo”-fascism. Only now can we see the full costs in blood and treasure of a war waged on fixed intelligence and false pretences.

The fiscal tab alone is projected to top 3 trillion US dollars, including the future costs of military pensions, disabilities, record-level post-traumatic stress, suicides and so forth.

All of the money has been borrowed, a first for an American war. The interest cost could reach 700 billion dollars. Is it anti-Semitic to point out that debt is always the prize?

At the end of World War II, the victorious US was home to 50 per cent of the world’s productive power. Our bonds were guaranteed to be gilt-edged for at least two generations. Now we are widely hated, our credibility is shot, our credit rating is slipping and our economy teeters on a meltdown.

Is it anti-Semitic to ask: “What happened?”

Is it anti-Semitic to report that the so-called “mastermind” behind 9/11 cited as his motive the US-Israeli relationship? Is it anti-Semitic to ask for an accounting of the “but for” costs of this relationship?

But for this “special relationship” what would be the current condition of the US – financially, militarily, diplomatically, geopolitically? Would the computation of those costs be an exercise in anti-Semitism?

Is it anti-Semitic to call for a new 9/11 commission?
America was misled to wage war on Iraq. Who had a relationship with us that was privileged enough to succeed with such duplicity in plain sight?

Who had the means, motive, opportunity and – importantly – the stable nation state intelligence to deceive us from inside our own government? Is that question anti-Semitic?

We were betrayed. Does that betrayal trace to those who befriended us? We were defrauded. Does that treason trace to those we were induced to trust?

As counsel to the US Senate Finance Committee (1980-87), I crafted a federal tax law that governs the bulk of funds under management. Those funds surged from 800 billion dollars in 1980 to more than 17,000 billion dollars by the spring of 2007.

The result created a vast pool of “money-on-autopilot”. Today’s consensus belief can be simply put: money should be allowed to pursue more of itself – freely.

The unspoken assumption is that money is smarter than people. That’s the generally accepted truth behind the finance-fixated obsession now known as “economics”.

Legions of consensus-touting consultants insist that this One True Faith must guide lawmaking worldwide. By law, financial freedom has now become a proxy for personal freedom. Tribunals under the World Trade Organization may yet enforce that worldview.

How did that narrow perspective become a widely agreed-to mindset? How were we induced to set America’s course by those values peculiar to money?

Rather than the civil rights refrain, “Let my people go”, the consensus refrain is “Let my money go”. Were we induced by a subculture within a subculture... within a subculture to freely embrace the very money-myopic mindset that now endangers our freedom?

This mindset first surfaced as the “Chicago model” before morphing over decades into the “Washington” consensus.

How were we as a nation induced to brand American democracy with a point of view that, by law, displaces those values not denominated in money? Is it anti-Semitic to pose that question?

Shutting down debate
Early on in this challenge, I included the noun “Jew” in a Google search. I received in return an automated response from the ADL implying that I was an anti-Semite. Why?

More importantly, how did a Google response appear in my email inbox – automatically – from the ADL?

The ADL now conducts trainings for law enforcement under recently enacted federal hate crimes legislation. By my use of a common noun in an online search, am I now identified in a database as wanting to kill all the Jews?

Mark Yudoff, president of the University of California, could have intervened in the on-campus events that caused Professor Robinson to fear for his life. He declined. Richard Blum, chair of the state’s Board of Regents, could have intervened. He too declined.

Judith Yudoff is the immediate past international president of the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism, representing 760 synagogues. Blum’s wife, U S Senator Diane Feinstein, chairs the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence. Is it anti-Semitic to report these facts?

My apologies. Clearly I don’t yet grasp what anti-Semitism is. Thus I throw the challenge to you the reader: what is it? Together perhaps we can sort this out.

WARNING, WARNING, THE LETTER AND WORD POLICE ARE COMING! There have been serious flagrant violations of the sacred letters and word lately. This morning I bring you very sad news indeed. All are now forbidden to use the following letters of the Alphabet: O-C-L-U-S-A-H-T you see, these letters are considered “sacred” to the Zionist hasbara machine, therefore only allowed to be used by the “chosen ones” AND not even ALL the chosen ones either, just “some” of the Chosen ones. Why? Because together those letters create the word “Holocaust” a word that belongs to only one group of people, the “chosen ones” and can only be used when attempting to garner sympathy for, you guessed it, “The Chosen Ones” all other uses are a violation and WILL be dealt with immediately! Case in point is the recent public flogging and arse kicking given to US Representative Alan Grayson, a Democrat from Florida USA by the “Zionist Word Police” , also known as the ADL, when he said this shocking, horrific, abomination, sinful and wholly anti-Semitic statement about US Health Care Jpost:

“the absence of adequate health care has resulted in a "Holocaust in America,"

Did you notice the violation there? Not used in proper context, not used to garner Jewish Sympathy, a clear violation of the Letter and Word laws. Yes, the ADL “Word Police” quickly descended upon his soon to be politically lifeless body. And, get THIS, Grayson is…..wait for it folks…..Jewish! GASP!! Still, he broke the law and must be publicly flogged and made to confess and apologise in public. Which he dutifully did post haste. See here:

Grayson, who is Jewish, has since written to the Florida regional director of the Anti-Defamation League that he did not "mean to minimize the Holocaust," and that "I regret the choice of words, and I will not repeat it."

I particularly loved the phrase “And I will Not Repeat it” How old is he? Now away with you to the blackboard you evil doer, and write 2 thousand times “I will not repeat it” you anti-Semitic Semitic you!But not all those who commit flagrant word and letter violations are so willing to “repent” see here:

“the editor-in-chief of the Polish Catholic newspaper Gosc Niedzielny ("Sunday Visitor") stands by his unseemly comparison of abortion to the annihilation of European Jewry during World War II.

After a Polish judge late last month fined Gosc Niedzielny $11,000 for comparing a woman's desire to have an abortion to medical experiments perpetrated by Nazi war criminals at Auschwitz, and ordered its editor, Father Marek Gancarczyk, and the Katowice Archdiocese as the weekly's publisher, to issue an apology, Gancarczyk defiantly declared "we will continue to voice views which we hold, as our conscience obliges us to."

Now that’s making a stand against the “Word Police” but he’s not alone, enter Rush Limbaugh LOL:

This past March, Archbishop Jose Cardoso Sobrinho of Recife, Brazil, decried abortion as a "silent Holocaust" in his defense of his recent excommunication of doctors who had performed an abortion on a nine-year-old girl who had been raped by her stepfather.

Euteneuer, said that billionaire Warren Buffett "will be known as the Dr. Mengele of philanthropy unless he repents" for supporting Planned Parenthood and other abortion rights groups, referring to the notorious SS doctor who sent thousands of Jews, including my mother's sister, to the gas chambers at Auschwitz-Birkenau.

Uh Oh, even the Zio-Christian and settler loving, Muslim hating, racist, bigot, next Republican Candidate for President, Mike Huckabee broke the rulzs as well:

Never mind about Mike though, as he has more than made up for his “transgressions” by becoming a true supporter of Zionism, illegal settlements and annihilating all Muslims from the Middle East. So he only gets a mention, no punishment for him. But, Former President Ronald Reagan did not escape the “Word Police” attention:

Some years ago, PETA circulated an exhibit of posters entitled "Holocaust on Your Plate" that juxtaposed images of animals about to be slaughtered with photographs of Nazi concentration camp inmates.

The Holocaust was the greatest carnage ever perpetrated. It looms as the epitome of all that is worst in the human condition, and led to the codification of genocide as a crime against humanity.

SMACKDOWN Toronto Film Festival

Aside from death and taxes, what else can we be 100% assured of? Why the Zionist response when any dare to criticize Israel. Yes I’m talking about the Toronto Film Festival Smack Down. Now that the protest is gaining some serious ground and making bigger headlines, what do we see? The same old rhetoric and fake claims:

1. "smacks of anti-Semitic bigotry." (standard reply when criticizing Israel)

2. “to demonize Jews and to marginalize Israel, in order to bring about the destruction of the Jewish state." (Scare Tactics and Guilt Trip)

3. “the protesters were "hypocritical" to signal out Tel Aviv and ignore totalitarian regimes elsewhere in the Middle East” (Deflection=Don’t look at us, look at them syndrome)

Well, it’s not working. Israel must be thinking “OMG it’s always worked for us, what’s happening? No one’s listening to us, no one is outraged, and no one cares anymore.” Well, you are right! And the blame for this rests solely at the hands of Israel’s hasbara spreaders. Israel really should have changed the song long ago.. as the fact that “charges of Anti-Semitism” no longer carry any weight is directly the result of “over use” in inappropriate situations. Like when people choose to boycott a government or country for its actions. Israel is loosing the battle of the hearts and minds with fake charges of “anti-Semitism” and “Scare Tactics” followed by “Deflection” Here’s the latest on TIFF:

New artists to back the protest of the Israeli film spotlight, which begins Sunday, include Canadian filmmakers Velcro Ripper, Min Sook Lee, Paul Lee and Lynne Fernie, and actors Harry Belafonte, Julie Christie, Michael Burg and Viggo Mortenson.

Canadian directors lining up to support Toronto's Israeli film showcase now includes Saul Rubinek, who charged "censorship has reared its ugly head," (sorry but ROFLMAO what nonsense, let's just ignore THIS only one among many other "censors for Israel") and Norman Jewison, who said the artist-led protest "smacks of anti-Semitic bigotry."(actually it "Smacks of Free Choice!" but Israel does not like Free Choice)

Toronto-based documentary maker Simcha Jacobovici, reflecting the growing vitriol in Toronto, said the festival "has been hijacked by a group of so-called activists bent on furthering their agenda -- to demonize Jews and to marginalize Israel, in order to bring about the destruction of the Jewish state." (and there it is again, as if a film festival can somehow cause the destruction of Israel. If that's the case people would be queing up in mile long lines)

Their comments were preceded by Rabbi Marvin Hier, founder of the Los Angeles-based Simon Weisenthal Center and a two-time Oscar winner, on Thursday telling a hastily-arranged press conference in Toronto that the protesters were"hypocritical" to signal out Tel Aviv and ignore totalitarian regimes elsewhere in the Middle East (and there you have the deflection tactic on que)

Undeterred by attacks from Tel Aviv sidebar supporters, protest organizers indicate that around 1,000 filmmakers, actors and academics have so far signed the Aug. 28 "Toronto Declaration: No Celebration of Occupation" addressed to the festival, which was conceived by Jane Fonda, Danny Glover and other early signatories. link

Gay Killing Spree~"It's All Our Fault!"

“Zionist Logic” Truly Amazing, “Hasbara” at its illogical best!
The gay killing spree that recently took place in Israel is being internalized, studied and mulled over in Israel. And, the Israeli’s have now decided where to lay the blame for that murder. And just who is to blame? We are………. Yes, that’s right folks. The Zionist logic is at work here in full display as is evident in today’s article in Ynet news.

When I first began reading it, like many others, I expected to see some soul searching, some introspect, some deep thought about the intolerable and deplorable state of Israeli society. And things began well. See here:

Gay center killing marks escalation of Israeli hobby of ‘hating the other’

There’s something odd about the fact that only a killing spree at the homo-lesbian center in Tel Aviv introduced the term “hate crime” into Israeli jargon.

But soon the word “Palestinian” and “terror” came creeping in to the mix. At which point I thought to myself “WTF?” A gay killing spree committed inside Israel, by Israelis so how can they tie these two things together? They have a plan actually, here it begins:

As if what we’ve seen thus far were loving and compassionate terror attacks. As if the entire range of Israeli violence – Palestinian terror, Yigal Amir, Baruch Goldstein, or any of your favorite terrorists – did not stem from personal hatred towards an entire community.

How crafty indeed. The direction will now be planted:

At this time it is still unclear whether the murder in Tel Aviv was indeed a “hate crime” against the homo-lesbian community. The murder at the gay youth center can be seen as an escalation in the popular Israeli hobby of “hating the other.” In the framework of the “Israel despises” campaign, we have seen in recent years increasing variety of hatred for others – homosexuals, haredim, Russian women, spinsters, Arabs, and foreigners.

Now will come the justification, victim hood and blame:

This is because in Israel hatred is not a human weakness that must be fought, but rather, a banner to rally around. After all, we are being told, everyone around us hates us – so let’s hate them back.

So, instead of Israel dealing with its vile, despicable, hate filled society, once again they are the “victim” so it’s not their fault. We see this logic in the situation with Palestine. Because of the “holocaust” Israel believes it has the right to now behave like Nazi’s with no excuse other than the tired worn out phrase “Never Again.” So, like the Genocide in Gaza, the Gay Killing Spree can be explained away quite nicely, with no blame what so ever placed where it should have been placed. No one need worry, no need to change, no need to feel badly, it’s not their fault, it’s the “world’s” fault.

Censorship~Acquired Target America

I write quite a lot of posts about the Zionists attempting to expand it's agenda of censorship. Today there is an excellent op-ed by Jeff Gates over at Middle East Online regarding the new push by the ADL for a re-write of the laws governing "hate crime." You see, the term "hate crime" is the pretty wrapping paper that covers the deeper nefarious agenda of "America's Best Friend"

To betray, you must first befriend. To defraud, you must first create trust. Accountability for this trans-generational duplicity will commence as the ADL’s true motives become transparent and its supporters apparent. Israel has a long standing "censorship" policy. For those who think Israel is a democracy like America, think again. Just take a gander at this report from 2006 for a shocker:

Israel's chief military censor, who has -- in her own words -- "extraordinary power." She can silence a broadcaster, block information and put journalists in jail.

"I can, for example, publish an order that no material can be published. I can close a newspaper or shut down a station. I can do almost anything," Col. Sima Vaknin said Wednesday.

MUST READ~CRITICIZING ISRAEL TO BE ILLEGAL

New Report out ~Today Israeli Zionists are tightening their grip even MORE on our freedom of speech.Israel will use this to take the cause to America next. I came across this recent 38 page PDF publication which is being submitted to the British Government from the European Institute for the Study of Contemporary Antisemitism (EISCA) the Zionist think-tank which sets out to “monitor” Anti-Semitism in the “World.” This will be used against the Government, the Media, Universities and hundreds of Pro-Palestinian organisations, not to mention blogs and any protests the public decide to hold against the Zionist state Military actions in Palestine.

This group has influential power within the British Government, indeed, one Rt Hon Denis MacShane, MP, is the Chairman of the group.

They have just delivered a “new” report In which they are “re-defining” Anti-Semitism to include just about anything one may say to criticize Israel. Such as Anti-Zionism; Holocaust denial and Holocaust related abuse; conspiracy theories; dual loyalty and the blood libel. More importantly, they take this one step further and are now including “Zionism” in this definition.

The report calls for the adoption of this new definition into law, which would then make it a “crime” to discuss or use any of the phrases, terms, arguments, theories or cases covered this new “definition.” They want the UK to adopt the EUMC (now the European Agency for Fundamental Rights [FRA]) definition of “anti-Semitism” so as to outlaw the use of the word “Nazi” when referring to Israel, its government, and Zionists. But that is NOT all they are after, there are many more “demands” which are quite shocking indeed, such as any conspiracy theories about Israel and 9-11, Zionism, or the Israeli Lobby in American Politics control in Washington. Additionally they want your Children to be “re-educated when they attend University (Sounds like Nazi’s to me!) They are also calling for media controls as well. Almost all criticism of Israel AND/OR Zionism will be “branded” as Anti-Semitism and illegal, so keep reading. This definition will target all aspects of discussion on the Israel/Palestine conflict, including media, universities, demonstrations, freedom of speech and much more. STRUCTURE OF THE REPORT
The report of the All-Party Parliamentary Inquiry into Antisemitism drew attention to five themes of antisemitic discourse: anti-Zionism; Holocaust denial and Holocaust related abuse; conspiracy theories; dual loyalty and the blood libel. This report combines them into one overarching theme- playing the Nazi card.

So as we can see, every single aspect of this new form of censorship will now come under one all encompassing heading of "Playing The Nazi Card" So they are effectively lumping hundreds of very real and accurate criticisms against the IDF, the State of Israel, the Gaza Genocide, the Israeli Government and any one critical of Zionism into one little sentence with the word "Nazi" in it. How clever!! Therefore you MUST remember when reading this below that each time they use the phrase "Using the Nazi Card" they are including ALL of this as well: Any criticisms against the IDF, the State of Israel, the Gaza Genocide, the Israeli Government and any one critical of Zionism That is the danger in what they are attempting here folks. With that in mind keep reading:

THE NAZI CARD
In the case of the United Kingdom, the All-Party Parliamentary Group Against Antisemitism recommended that the working definition be “adopted by the government and law enforcement agencies”.

When the Nazi card is played against the Israeli State, its leaders, its military practices, or its founding ideology of Zionism, it is clearly antisemitic.

Four different variants of the problem are examined in the report:
- The Nazi card as abuse against Jews.
- The Nazi card as abuse against the collective memory of the Holocaust.
- The Nazi card in the casting of Jews as conspirators and collaborators with the Nazis.
- The Nazi card manifest in discourse about Israel and Zionism.
Each of these variants of the Nazi card has harmful consequences that constitute a significant common denominator and the rationale for why this type of discourse needs to be addressed. (note that Zionism is now included in the Definition)

GAZA PROTESTS:
Placards carrying images of swastikas superimposed on the Star of David and the Israeli flag were commonplace in street-level protests about the recent Israeli military actions and the conflict in Gaza in December 2008 and January 2009. Allusions between Nazi genocidal practices and the activities of the Israeli state were also drawn in some of the speeches at protest meetings and press commentary on the conflict.

AND THIS WONT BE ALLOWED ANY MORE:

Richard Falk, the then incoming United Nations special rapporteur on human rights in the Palestinian territories, published an article in 2007 titled ‘Slouching toward a Palestinian Holocaust’ whereby, for instance, Palestinian territories have been compared to the “Warsaw ghetto”, Libya’s deputy UN ambassador, Ibrahim Dabbashi, reportedly drew a comparison between conditions in Gaza and the concentration camps of Nazi Germany. This occasion was not the first time officials associated with the UN had drawn parallels between Israeli military actions and atrocities committed by the Nazis.

UNDERSTANDING AND ADDRESSING ANTISEMITIC DISCOURSE
The project’s aims were to:
● Identify and illuminate the main component parts of antisemitic discourse.
● Include an examination of how criticism of Israel and Zionism can crossover into and become polluted by antisemitism through the expression or assumption of core antisemitic concepts.

THE CONSEQUENCES OF ANTISEMITIC DISCOURSE
This report attempts to shift the focus of analysis of contemporary antisemitism onto new ground: away from labelling and defining the problem to an understanding of the consequences of discourse against Jews, Israel and Zionism.

YOU CANNOT CRITICIZE ZIONISM:

PLAYING THE NAZI CARD AGAINST ISRAEL AND ZIONISM
One of the most challenging components of antisemitic discourse in general, and the discursive theme of the Nazi card in particular, concerns the problem of when the Nazi card is played against Israel and its founding movement, Zionism.

UK universities and colleges should be encouraged to debate and utilise the European Monitoring Centre on Racism and Xenophobia (EUMC) working definition of antisemitism to inform their race equality and harassment policies.

● In seeking advice from scholars with experience in the matter, the government should commission and promote educational materials for university-level
lectures/seminars/workshops on Holocaust denial which examine how Holocaust denial in its explicit and more subtle manifestations constitutes antisemitic discourse.

● The European Institute for the Study of Contemporary Antisemitism should produce a model statement that refutes the Nazi card point-by-point so that it can aid and inform those who seek to challenge it.(Soon the Government will be paying for these to be handed out to every kid at University!)

So, How insane is that statement, they are calling for a law to be passed to stop a violent crime that may not take place, or has not taken place yet? ● When the Nazi card is played as abuse against the collective memory of the Holocaust, the offender ‘de-Nazifies’ the role of the Nazis and casts Jews as conspirators.

● When the Nazi card is played by casting Jews as conspirators and collaborators with the Nazis, Jews are portrayed as beneficiaries of Nazi genocidal policies.

● When the Nazi card is played against Israel and Zionism, Israel as a state is cast in the role of the Nazis with Palestinians cast as victims of eliminationist policy and practice.

So in the above statements they make it crystal clear, the “Holocaust” excuse will “never” end. In other words, there will never come a time when it can be viewed as a historical event, and there will never come a time when you can be critical of it, or have an opposing opinion of that historical event. Now, to effectively rule that people cannot have their own opinions or questions, no matter how far out, is just another form of Big Brother Control of the masses by Israel world wide. Reporters without borders have issued a very long press statement on the Durban II conference on racism. Appeal for freedom of expression

Appeal to international bodies and NGOs participating in 2nd World Conference against Racism.
Reporters Without Borders and the Doha Centre for Media Freedom are concerned about the threat to free expression that arises when the media broach religious issues. They therefore urge on the Member States of the United Nations and the international and regional organisations and NGOs attending the 2nd World Conference Against Racism (Durban II) to respect the following principles.

Convinced that an in-depth dialogue between cultures and religions favours the development of a tolerant and multicultural society;

We confirm our support for these principles:

The right to freedom of religion, as enshrined in international law, above all protects the individual and to a certain extent the rights of religious and belief communities, but not the religions themselves. It guarantees respect for believers, not beliefs.

It is neither useful nor necessary to impose more binding and repressive limits on free expression that those envisaged by international law, namely the prohibition of incitement to national, racial or religious hatred and incitement to war. The adoption of additional restrictions would pose a threat to the - very fundamental - freedom of expression and to related freedoms including freedom of religion.

Freedom of expression should only be subject to the restrictions imposed by law, namely the laws on defamation and insult, and the restrictions that are necessary for protecting safety and public order and the fundamental rights and freedoms or others.

Introducing or re-introducing “defamation of religions” and “blasphemy” as crimes in national or international legal documents would represent an unacceptable restriction on the right to free expression.

The dissemination of misconceptions about religions or members of religious communities may shock and elicit disproportionate reactions. But the response to hurtful comments is not to adopt laws restricting free expression but rather measures to foster a climate of tolerance and inclusiveness in which religions can be practiced without risk of stigmatisation or discrimination.

Analysis and evaluation of a religion’s content, including criticism, satire and disparaging comments, are part of the practice of freedom of expression, thought and opinion. source
