A Jewish organization distributed Wednesday leaflets on Palestinians in east Jerusalem calling on them to leave the city, and offering them "financial aid".

The group had quotations from the Holy Quran and the Torah and claimed that those quotations prove that the "land of Israel is for the Jews; and that followers of other faiths should leave this land to them".

The leaflets also quoted the "book of prophets"; a and stated that the "Jewish people were expelled out of their homeland for 2000 years, and now after they have returned, as promised, the time has come for the people of Israel to implement the orders of God".

"We ask you to leave the land of Israel, we don't hate you, we don&do not want to fight you just because you a Muslims, we ask you to leave according to God".
The group claims it would help the Arab leave the country and placed a phone number to call

Some Palestinians who phoned the number in an attempt to know the identity of the organization stated that the person who responded to their call refused to provide them with any identification, and only said that “he would love to meet them in person "to offer them financial and immigration aid" link

MPs of Israel's ruling right-wing coalition on Thursday presented a bill aimed at blocking any concession to Palestinians on the status of Jerusalem, which Israel considers its "eternal" capital.

The projected legislation would require any change in the city's boundaries to have the backing of a majority of 80 of the 120 parliamentary deputies, as compared with 61 at present.

The MPs said the aim is to "guarantee the unity of the city."(In other words, illegally steal it for themselves)

The move came as Israel observed the 42nd anniversary of its occupation and annexation of Arab east Jerusalem in the 1967 Six-Day-War.

Israel considers Jerusalem its "eternal and indivisible" capital despite international rejection of the claim and Palestinian ambitions to make east Jerusalem the capital of their future state.

The previous government had indicated the Jewish state might be willing to give up sovereignty on some Arab neighbourhoods of east Jerusalem.

But Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government, which was sworn in on March 31, has ruled this out.

The Jerusalem issue is among the main stumbling blocks in peace negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians, which have made no tangible progress since they were relaunched at a 2007 conference in Annapolis, Maryland. link

Pope Enters Dome of the Rock Mosque

1st Pope to ever enter a Mosque, fair play to him but he needs ot do much more than just enter a mosque and speak at one. He needs to visit Gaza and witness the genocide and visit those who are suffering from the Israeli holocaust on Gaza.

Jerusalem; Benedict XVI became the first pope in history to enter the iconic Dome of the Rock mosque in Jerusalem’s Old City, amid heavy security on Tuesday morning.

Before the pope arrived Palestinian politicians and clerics held a meeting with cardinals who accompanied Benedict on his tour of the Holy Land in the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, which includes the Dome of the Rock.

The pope was then welcomed at the entrance of the mosque by the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem Mohammed Hussein, according to AFP.

In his address to the Mufti, Benedict spoke about the unity of the three monotheistic religions, beginning with the Arabic greeting "Asalamu Alaikum!" (Peace be upon you!).

“Undivided love for the One God and charity towards ones neighbor thus become the fulcrum around which all else turns. This is why we work untiringly to safeguard human hearts from hatred, anger or vengeance,” said the pope, according to the text of his prepared remarks.

The Pope will visit the Church of the Dormition where Jesus is believed to have shared the last supper with his disciplines. Then he will have lunch in the Latin Patriarchate Cathedral with members of the Catholic Churches Council in the Holy Land. source

Israel has shut down a media area where Palestinian and Arab reporters and journalists were to report on the Papal visit. If you recall Israel has made every effort to block the Pope from visiting Palestine or Palestinians.

Jerusalem – Israeli police and intelligence forces raided the Ambassador Hotel in East Jerusalem early on Monday morning, shutting down in advance a Palestinian Media Center planned in advance of the pope’s visit to Jerusalem.

The Israelis handed the management of the hotel an order signed by the Israeli internal security minister closing off a conference room that had been planned to be used as a media center, offering visiting journalists resources to cover the pope’s visit.

Pope Benedict XVI will arrive in Jerusalem later on Monday on his first visit to the Holy Land. Most of the Jerusalem holy sites the pontiff will visit are in East Jerusalem, which Israel occupied in 1967 and later annexed. The international community does not recognize Israeli control over the area.

The director of the Media Center, Ahmad Ar-Ruweidi, said they have assigned an attorney to follow up on the case, saying the Israeli raid was “illegal,” and signaled an intensification of Israel’s prohibition of Palestinian civil society in Jerusalem.

He stressed that the media center was a temporary installation, not a permanent institution.

The Palestinian Media Center commenced its activities on Sunday with two press conferences organized in cooperation with politicians and religious figures during which they criticized Israeli policies ahead of the papal visit.

For its part, the Jerusalem Center for Social and Economic Rights condemned the shutting down of the media center as a violation of press freedom and a restriction on civil activities.

The Jerusalem Center’s director, Ziad Al-Hammouri called on the Israeli authorities to reverse the order. source

Mayor for the Israeli-run Jerusalem municipality hopes to make “Jerusalem the greenest city in Israel,” largely at the expenses of Palestinian residents.

Jerusalem municipal Mayor Nir Barkat revealed his “master plan” for the city on Monday, which includes the ominous pledge for the “Development of eastern Jerusalem,” where most of the Palestinian population lives.

Also of concern to Palestinian residents is his intention to create five new metropolitan parks, particularly given the current demolition orders on nearly 100 Palestinian homes in the Silwan neighborhood of the city to make way for the construction of green space.

Equally distressing is the issue of Israeli “Conservation and preservation of historic buildings,” since this often means the judization of Islamic or ancient historic sites.

In his explanation of “Developing Eastern Jerusalem,” Barakat said “An additional 13,550 housing units will be made available for construction for the residents of eastern Jerusalem,” which means the expansion of illegal East Jerusalem Israeli settlements. These settlements will be constructed on the land Palestinians will establish their capital city on under the Road Map and Arab Peace Initiative.

The mayor said he intended to build most of the new housing in the Palestinian A-Tur neighborhood (1,500 units), the Palestinian Beit Hanina- Shuafat neighborhoods (2,500 units), Tel Adesa (2,000 units), Jabel Mukabar (2,500 units), and the eastern Jerusalem city center (750 units). These areas house the highest number of Palestinian residents of East Jerusalem.

Barakat outlined his plans for the revitalization of tourism in Jerusalem, saying efforts would be concentrated on the Old City, again an area of high-concentration Palestinian homes.

According to reports, “The plan affixes the borders of the historical city to include the neighborhoods and buildings built until 1948,” which will annex even more Palestinian land. source

"Two police officers were injured, one lightly in the legs but the other more seriously in the head, when a Palestinian man drove at them deliberately in his vehicle," Rosenfeld said.

The alleged attack on Saturday occurred at the Hezmeh checkpoint between northern Jerusalem and the West Bank, Micky Rosenfeld said.

"The 37-year-old Palestinian was arrested and said when questioned that his plan had been to kill the police officers."

But Walid al-Umari, Al Jazeera's Palestine bureau chief, reporting from Ramallah, said: "The information Al Jazeera has so far received indicates that the incident probably comes as a regular car accident."

The fact that the driver is an Arab and the incident took place at an Israeli military checkpoint may have left Israeli police with the impression that the police had been deliberately targeted, he said. source

Jerusalem lawmaker seeking return of Palestinian motorist shot dead at house demolition

Jerusalem – Ma’an – A Palestinian lawmaker from East Jerusalem is pressing Israeli authorities to the return the body of a young Palestinian man who was shot by Israeli forces last week during a house demolition.

The office of lawmaker Hatim Abdul-Qadir, who is also a presidential aide on Jerusalem Affairs, said they are seeking the return of the corpse of Iyad Uweisat, from the East Jerusalem neighborhood of Jabal Mukabbir.

Abdul-Qadir’s office said Israeli police are delaying the handover of the corpse despite the fact that they have completed the autopsy. In a statement the office said that the delay was an “additional punishment for the family.”

50 Israeli settlers enter Jerusalem’s Al-Aqsa Compound

Jerusalem – Ma’an – Israeli police allowed 50 right-wing settlers to tour the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound on Sunday afternoon without a police escort.

Ma’an’s correspondent in Jerusalem reports that the settlers entered the compound during a time slot reserved for foreign tourists.

Palestinians who were in the compound at the time said that they found the settlers’ tour “provocative.” They said that Israeli police stationed at the entrance refused to remove the settlers when this was requested by Palestinians.

The third holiest site in Islam, the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound is also the location of the iconic Dome of the Rock and a major symbol of Palestinian nationalism. The area on which it rests is also claimed by Jews who believe it to be the location where the ancient Second Temple was located. source
