Oxford University Students Speech Against Ayalon

First thing you notice is that there were apparently no arrests at Oxford. The second thing is that the protests seem to have been more successfully disruptive and very well organized in comparison to the one in California that Oren met with. Also, note the Israeli violence against protesters.

Danny Ayalon, Israel's Deputy Foreign Minister and member of the far-right Yisrael Beitenu party, came to the Oxford Union on 8 February, on a desperate PR mission to resuscitate Israel's image after global public condemnation for its war crimes in Gaza last year.
The Oxford Students' Palestine Society, together with other student groups and members of the public, organized a protest, both on the street outside the Union and within the debating chamber itself.

It is our belief that Yisrael Beitenu, Danny Ayalon’s party, is a racist party which advocates apartheid policies. Ayalon himself refuses to recognize the West Bank and Jerusalem as Occupied Territory and is attempting to introduce legislation that would criminalize Palestinians who celebrate their national day of remembrance, Nakba Day. The fact that such a figure was invited to the Oxford Union unopposed is a disgrace. As such, we, the Oxford Students’ Palestine Society, felt it necessary to present our own challenge, and demonstrate the continuing resistance to apartheid, to occupation, to the crippling blockade on Gaza, to house demolitions and to settlement building.

The protest was a massive success. Outside, over a hundred people joined together to chant slogans in support of Palestine, carrying banners condemning Israeli policy and waving the Palestinian flag. Inside, numerous individual students interrupted the talk, challenging Ayalon's assertions that the West Bank and East Jerusalem were not Occupied Territory, and that Israel had 'given up' a third of its country in its peace deal with Egypt. Before long, Ayalon was not able to continue his rehearsed speech, and was forced to contend with a gathering storm of intelligent questions and statements contradicting his evasions and outright lies. At one point a member of the Palestine Society read out a full page of the Goldstone Report dealing with Israel's deliberate killing of civilians, to thunderous applause from the audience. Another student raised a Palestinian flag and called out a list of Israel’s war crimes, including the use of chemical weapons during the war on Gaza in January 2009. Israel's ambassador to the UK, Ron Prosor, sitting in the front row, looked bewildered and embarrassed by his colleague's feeble performance.

Beyond the hosting of Ayalon, and his outrageous remarks, the real scandal of the evening was the thuggery of Ayalon’s security staff. After the talk, as one protestor photographed their car, the security staff drove straight into him. This sort of violence is commonplace in the Occupied Territories, but rarely exposed outside them, seeming particularly surreal in Oxford. The protestor was carried on the car bonnet a hundred yards down New Inn Hall Street, clinging on as the security staff sped up. When he managed to fling himself clear, the protestor was badly bruised, but luckily escaped serious injury. Two other Oxford students had been forced to jump for cover as the car accelerated. After the car swiftly disappeared, the three lodged an official complaint. Thames Valley Police are now investigating the incident, having been provided with photographic evidence.

Nevertheless, despite the violence, the incident could not detract from the success of the protest, nor distract from the clear message that students sent to Ayalon and his state: until Israel ends its illegal occupation and the Palestinians receive the justice they have been denied for the last six decades, Israel's representatives and propagandists will not be welcome at Oxford University. This is the same message which British students sent to President Shimon Peres in November 2008, and which American students sent to former Prime Minister Ehud Olmert in October 2009. It was sent again to Ambassador Michael Oren by students in California, on the same day as our protest at Ayalon’s appearance in Oxford. The call for justice continues. Source

Weapon Used on Tristan Anderson Kills Palestinian

The same bullet that critically injured America Tristan Anderson was used to kill a Palestinian today.

Palestinian man killed by tear-gas canister in Bil'in

A Palestinian man was killed on Friday when Israeli forces opened fire on demonstrators in the West Bank village of Bil'in, near Ramallah.

Palestinian medical officials identified the man as 29-year-old Basem Ibrahim Abu Rahmeh, who had previously been listed in serious condition following a direct shot to the stomach from an Israeli fired tear-gas canister on Friday afternoon.

In a statement, Israel's military said it would investigate the incident.

Witnesses told Ma'an that the projectile was labeled "40 mm bullet, special/long range" in Hebrew, the same type of weapon that critically injured an American national, Tristan Anderson, at a demonstration in Ni'lin on 13 March 2009, when he was shot in the head from a distance of 60 meters.

Israel "No Right To Exist" Until Palestinians Have Rights!

This past weekend there was a huge fundraising event at the RDS in Dublin for Palestine. The event was organised by Palestinian Rights Institute which was created some years ago by Palestinians living in Ireland. The event was televised so may ultimately appear on YouTube in a few days.

this from the Irish Times. Violence in Gaza a 'victory' for Palestinians

PRO-HAMAS SPEAKERS at a fundraising event held at the RDS in Dublin at the weekend argued that the recent violence in Gaza, in which more than 1,300 Palestinians were killed, was a “victory” because it put the Middle East conflict back on the international agenda and galvanised Muslims worldwide.

The Al-Aqsa Festival, which was headlined “Gaza Victory: The Road to Al-Quds”, drew hundreds of people to the RDS Concert Hall on Saturday.

The event, organised by the Palestinian Rights Institute – a body established several years ago by Palestinians living in Ireland, was covered by a TV crew from Al Jazeera’s Arabic-language channel.

Speakers included Azzam Tamimi, the Palestinian director of the London-based Institute of Islamic Political Thought, and Sheikh Yousef al Baz, a Muslim cleric from the West Bank.

Speaking in Arabic, Sheikh al Baz said the January conflict between Israel and Hamas had “revived the issue of Palestine throughout the world after it was almost dead”, and it had “restored to every Muslim his honour and dignity”. He argued that the war had proved that “resistance is the only way, and not negotiation”.

Sheikh al Baz’s speech prompted shouts of “Allahu Akbar” from the audience, drawn mostly from the Muslim community. “We supported the jihad and we will do so until Allah grants us victory,” the cleric said. “And that day is not far.”

Mr Tamimi, who has written a number of books on Hamas, railed against the US and Europe for insisting that the organisation must meet certain conditions, including recognising Israel’s right to exist, before any engagement occurs.

“Once you recognise Israel, you say to the world that the rape of my country and my people is acceptable,” Mr Tamimi said. “It is a crime against humanity to recognise Israel’s right to exist because that would legitimise the crimes against humanity Israel has committed.”

Had Hamas agreed to meet the conditions laid down by the international community, he said, “they would no longer have my support”.

Hamas, Mr Tamimi argued, was “an alternative to those who sold out” and it “represents our dream” as the “true representative of the Palestinian voice”.

“When the world opposes Hamas, it opposes Palestinian self-determination,” he said, adding that the international community must recognise the “legitimacy Hamas has gained through resistance and elections”.

Branding the EU as “cowards” for not engaging with Hamas, Mr Tamimi added: “Hamas is who the world should be talking to if it is serious about solving the Palestinian issue.”

Richard Boyd Barrett of the Irish Anti-War Movement told attendees that it was “entirely legitimate” to argue that “Israel has no right to exist” because “it is not a normal state but a state built on violence, oppression and apartheid”.

“We must convince people that [Israel] has no right to exist as long as it denies rights to Palestinians,” he added.

Organisers told The Irish Times that the €7,000 raised at the event would be given to Human Appeal International, a registered charity with offices in Manchester.

NO MARCHES~More Civil Rights Losses in Scotland

This, just out this morning in Scotland. Now the council in Edinburgh will force protest organizers who want to demonstrate against the Gaza holocaust by Israel, will have to file a paper and wait an entire month! I smell the Zionist lobby at work in Scotland. Protest organizers say they will ignore the rule. I must say this is stupid for Scotland to enforce this, reason being, their courts will fill up with cases where protesters have ignored this insane rule and this will just bring more attention to the protesters cause, e.g. Gaza. Remember the hoopla when Canada banned Galloway? So, perhaps this is even better as it will bring more attention to a the holocaust in Gaza. report below:

ORGANISERS of protests in Edinburgh are set to be forced to give a month's notice to city officials, putting spontaneous events such as this year's major demonstration against the war in Gaza under threat.

Council officials have been turning a blind eye to new laws which came into force in 2007 asking rally organisers to give 28 instead of seven days' notice for their events.

But now city leaders have indicated that they are going to start enforcing the rules.

Between April 2007 and March last year a total of 16 events went ahead without organisers having given the full 28 days' notice.

City leaders today said they, along with the police, had adopted a "softly, softly" approach to the new legislation but added this was now likely to change.

Opposition politicians and rally organisers today hit out at the 28-day rule, warning that many protest groups will simply ignore it.

The former socialist MSP and organiser of the city's annual May Day rally, Colin Fox, said: "The problem I have with the 28-day rule is that it only suits the bureaucrats who invented it.

"A lot of these marches and rallies are organised in response to local or world events, something which you can't give a month's notice for. You can't just do these things at the drop of a hat but I think what will happen is that people will simply ignore the 28-day rule.

"It is just unacceptable to say that the people who wanted to protest about the bombing in Gaza in January would have to wait a month to do this."

There are typically around 120 marches or rallies held in the Capital each year, ranging from Orange Walks to trade union marches.

Leith councillor Gordon Munro added: "The very nature of some rallies and marches is that they are spontaneous, reacting to wider events.

One of the biggest rallies through Edinburgh was in 2005 when an estimated 250,000 people took to the streets to try to force G8 leaders to tackle world poverty, while the last major rally in the city was in January for the 4000-strong protest against the conflict in Gaza.

The march finished at the US consulate on Regent Terrace where shoes and paint bombs were thrown at diplomatic offices.

"The local authority and the police are due to review this approach and the local procedure in general. It is likely that we will move towards enforcing the 28-day notice period in all but urgent cases

Israeli Consulate Takes Over Palestinian Discussion Group in New Hampshire

Here's Israel bullying it's way into a group discussing the plight of Palestinians. The group in New Hampshire, has been carrying on discussion throughout February. Then, suddenly "Several members of the public, who complained to library officials, said the event was not accurate and was one-sided." Translation, the Jewish Lobby, the same people who smeared Charles Freeman and the same people who banned a Member of the British Parliament from entering Canada. Yet, they have the right to force themselves into a public venue to spew their Israeli "hasbara" to the public? Why can't people be allowed to have groups without Israel horning in. I'll tell you why, because Israel is loosing the battle for the hearts and minds of the public, that's why this is so important that they have to bully into groups like this, and if they can't bully into them, then they destroy them or shut them down. Censorship and manipulation is what they do best. Oh and smearing their enemies.

If you live in, or near this location, I highly suggest you get there and give this guy some heated questions. Because, rest assured, they will have pro-Israel people bussed in and planted in the audience to support this guy. Report below:

Israeli consul will speak in Portsmouth

PORTSMOUTH — A high-ranking Israeli diplomat will be at Portsmouth Public Library on Monday to continue what has become an intense local discussion regarding the conflict between Israel and Palestine.

Several members of the public, who complained to library officials, said the event was not accurate and was one-sided. Ultimately, the last installment of the series was moved to a different location, but library officials said it was because of a scheduling conflict.

Scheduling conflict? Don't you mean pressure from the Jewish Lobby?

Without addressing the Teach-ins directly, a spokeswoman for the consulate general said Tamir recognized the dialogue was occurring and wanted to help introduce Israel's perspective.

Translation=He needs to get in there and spread Israel's false version of events. Why bother, we can all go to the IDF website or the HUGE amount of Jewish Publications if we want the IDF version of events. Or, we could just watch FOX news!

Nadav Tamir, who serves as consul general of Israel to New England in Boston, will answer the public's questions regarding recent events in Israel and Gaza.

Throughout February, the library hosted the first three meetings in a series of Palestine Teach-ins, hosted by Seacoast Peace Response and Palestine Education Network. The purpose of the event was to discuss the plight of the Palestinians during the conflict, which organizers said is often ignored by the media, but is just as tragic.

So Israel has to come in and hijack this groups discussion, such bullies and propaganda spreaders, using the ever powerful threats from Jewish lobbyists and groups to seize and take over discussion groups to control people and force their views on the public. And here it is in their own words below:

"There's been some events going on in the area, and we want to come in and be part of that discussion," said Daniella Caplan, director of press and media relations for the consulate general. "We want to make ourselves available to the public to answer any questions."

In a released statement, Tamir, who joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1993, said, "As a democratic country, Israel prides itself on its open society of dialogue and pluralism.

Open democracy eh? What about sexism ,racism and equality, and diversity, you forgot those wee things, all of which are present in any real democracy.Notice who is sponsoring the event below:

The sponsors of the event are Temple Israel, New Hampshire Center for Middle East Peace, New Hampshire Council of Churches and the Consulate General of Israel to New England.

I smell a MAJOR HASBARA ALERT coming to New Hampshire!

BOYCOTT~ Illegal Settler Avocado Goes to Jail

I just love how they reported this.

Londoners lock up criminal Israeli goods in Tesco on Sunday 29 March!

Pictured below is a convicted Illegal Settler Avocado~LOCK IT UP!

Sunday 29 March 2009, Londoners converged towards Tesco supermarkets in West London in solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank.

Avocadoes, pomellos, cherry tomatoes, herbs and dates grown in Israel and on illegal settlements in the occupied Palestinian West Bank were trapped in baskets and trolleys in order to disrupt the sale of such produce and symbolise the need for clear international action against illegal Israeli settlements and Israeli war crimes in the region. Leaflets were placed on the empty shelves explaining the role of Israeli goods in funding Israeli settler colonialism and state violence.

Tesco, and most supermarkets in Britain, stock and sell Israeli goods including produce from illegal Israeli settlements implanted in the occupied Palestinian West Bank. Some of this settlement product is misleadingly labelled 'West Bank' leading many customers to believe they are buying Palestinian produce, while some is labelled 'made in Israel' even though the settlements are clearly colonial entities outside of Israel's internationally recognized borders.

The event was timed to mark Yom el Ard, the yearly celebration of the Palestinian civil rights movement, as well as the global day for Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions ( http://www.alternativenews.org/content/view/1668/381/, http://bdsmovement.net/?q=node/351, http://www.alternativenews.org/content/view/1615/1/)

In recent months, the global pressure for Israel to end its violence against Palestinians has been increasingly felt inside Israel.( http://www.alternativenews.org/content/view/1605/110/)

I say lock em all up and throw away the key! Keep hitting Israel in the wallet where it will hurt! Boycott anything with a bar code that begins with 729 or anything grwon in the West Bank on illegal land.

One Jewish Hero

This is one of the most beautiful things I have ever read. A personal journey of a man who did not want to join the Israeli Army (IDF) How he thought through all the options available to him. Using his moral compass and humanity, he came to the very real conclusion, he had only three choices: The Army, the Shrink, and the Prison – a story of three forms of oppression. From Palestine Israel Education Project http://www.thinkpep.net/

A letter from an Israeli teenager refusing to go into the army

About three years ago, as a youth of 18 years, I was facing the same dilemma facing most Israelis today: Do I go to the army like most people, do I go to the army psychologist and play crazy to get out of the army like so many Israelis do, or do I refuse to go to the army and to the shrink and go to prison? I want to look at these three options again, the way I did three years ago.

The first option is going to the army. This is the “normal” thing to do. This is what most Israelis do. This is what people in the whole world do, and have always done, when there is a war, a danger to their society. But is it the right thing to do? In order to answer that question I had to take a very careful look around me. I had to think of my experience with this conflict, and what I know of it.

When I was in the 9th grade, a teacher, asked me to join a new project called "The NIR School", introducing students, across national boundaries, to the field of biotechnology. I thought it would be interesting to go school with Palestinians, so I agreed. I found myself, in the summer of '99, on a two-week long program, with 60 youths from Israel, Jordan and the West Bank, living in youth hostels in Israel and Jordan. It was the first time I got to meet Palestinians. We didn't talk about current affairs. We got to know each other through study groups, social activities and music lessons. Rarely one of the Palestinian members would share a check-point story, but mostly it just didn't come up.

When the Intifada broke out, I talked to my NIR School friends on the phone and on the internet. The staff put together a special reunion for us. Almost all of the Israelis were there, but only 6 of 20 Palestinians came, in spite of heavy objection from their friends. Nu'ha from Beit-Jalla cried when talking about the shelling of her neighborhood, Muhanad from Tul-Karrem spoke of three days of detention in very harsh terms, and Sari told us of his friends who were shot dead during a demonstration.

This set me on a long road, traveling among the villages and towns of the West Bank in special convoys of the “Ta’ayush” movement, an Arab – Jewish partnership. As I rode in the convoy bringing food, water, and basic necessities to Palestinian villages, I found out that the state of Israel commits war crimes and tramples on human rights, destroying Palestinian cities, towns and villages, stealing land, detaining and executing people without trial, demolishing houses, businesses, and public institutions; looting, imposing closure and curfew on Palestinians, using torture and prevention of medical care, and all the time continuing with the construction and
expansion of Jewish settlements on Palestinian land. All this made me realize that I could not be a part of an army that engages in this kind of oppression.

I was left with two options. Going to the army psychologist is easy. Many people get a release from the army because they “don’t sleep well at night”, “think of killing themselves” and so on. Everybody knows how to do it.

But this too is oppression. Because it means you have to say something is wrong with YOU, not the army. You have to go quietly to ask for this release – and not proudly state your beliefs. Worst of all – it takes out most of the meaning of not going to the army. Because this means that a few people more don’t go to be occupiers – but many others will go. In order to make a change you have to go public – and if you go public they won’t let you go.

So I was left with prison. Of course prison is a very hard thing to go through, and of course it is also oppression. But going to prison is also one of the only things anyone in Israel can do these days to make a difference nonviolently. It is a moral step to take, a way of talking to people. Going to prison means you really believe in what you do, and you’re willing to pay a price for it. Going to prison was a way for us (me and my friends) to start talking to more Israelis and to tell them about the Palestinians we met, about the occupation, and about the responsibility we think we have to change things. It gave us a chance to reach Palestinians and show them that there are Israelis you can talk to and build something positive with. Most of all – it was the oppression I had to suffer from, in order to help lessen the oppression against others.

That is why I choose prison – and that is why I am still glad I made this decision, even after a long and hard two years behind bars.

Plans for Galloways Speaking Tour Will Continue

British MP tour organizers hope court will overturn ban, but make a Plan B
15 minutes ago

TORONTO — A Canadian speaking tour by George Galloway will go ahead Monday, even if lawyers for the British MP are unsuccessful in arguing against an order banning him from entering the country, tour organizers say.

Lawyers for the British parliamentarian will be in Federal Court in Toronto on Sunday seeking an injunction on the ban so Galloway can enter Canada until a judicial review is heard.

"We're waiting to see what the outcome of the legal challenge is on Sunday."

Clark said if that bid is unsuccessful organizers will meet Galloway at a border crossing to the United States, where he was on a speaking tour.

They will bring him to the Canadian border but not attempt to cross it, and he can deliver a speech through a phone that will be amplified for supporters in Canada to hear, Clark said. Organizers are still working out the details.

"Even if he does not get in, in Toronto, in Mississauga, in Montreal and in Ottawa on the assigned days he's scheduled to speak he will deliver a speech to that audience and people will be able to ask questions," Clark said.

Galloway's supporters allege political interference in the Canada Border Services Agency decision and are calling on Immigration Minister Jason Kenney to overturn it.

Kenney has previously said he would not use his ministerial power in that way and that he did not ask the CBSA to rule the way it did.

Gandhi Ethos to West Bank~Palestinians Boycott Israeli Goods

Hit Israel in the wallet where it hurts, support the boycott worldwide!! Don't buy anything with a bar code that begins with 729 or anything grown on stolen land.

Inspired by Gandhi, Palestinians to boycott Israeli products

Jerusalem: Deriving inspiration from Mahatma Gandhi's Indian National Movement, Palestinian activists in 50 villages of northern West Bank decided to launch a boycott campaign against Israeli products.

"We know change will go slowly, but we are determined to imitate what Gandhi did in India when he boycotted English salt," Khalid Mansour, the chairman of the Popular Committees in Nablus told Palestinian news agency 'Maan'.

As per official statistics Palestinians consume 2.6 billion shekels (USD 0.6 billion) worth of Israeli goods each year, Mansoor said.

28 per cent of this money is said to be spent on the purchasing cement from Israel.

Palestinians also consume 30 million shekels (USD 2.40 million) worth of medicines and 10 million worth of gold produced in Israel every year.

He said that subcommittees will be formed in each of the 50 villages to monitor the boycott and start awareness campaign at schools to boycott Israeli products

Soldiers tear-gas pacifists in West Bank demo

HEBRON, West Bank (AFP) — Israeli soldiers used tear gas grenades to break up a demonstration on Saturday by Israeli, Palestinian and foreign pacifists in the occupied flashpoint West Bank city of Hebron.

No casualties were reported, an AFP correspondent said.

About 150 demonstrators were demanding that Palestinians again be allowed to used a road in the old town of Hebron after they were denied access by the Israeli military for security reasons.

Israeli Arab member of parliament Muhammed Barakeh of the Hadash communist party was among the protesters.

About 600 Jewish settlers live under Israeli military protect in in central Hebron, the West Bank city inhabited by 170,000 Palestinians.

Arab MK Attacked by IDF at Protest

This just in from Haaretz

Arab MK: IDF soldiers attacked me in Hebron

Israeli Arab MK Mohammad Barakeh claimed on Saturday he was attacked by Israel Defense Forces soldiers during a demonstration in Hebron.

Barakeh, chairman of the Hadash party, said troops pushed him violently and sprayed him with tear gas when they through tear gas and shock grenades into the crowd.

The incident occurred when IDF soldiers asked dozens of leftist and Palestinian demonstrators to disperse. They had staged their protest in front of the settlement inside the West Bank city, a frequent flashpoint for tensions between Israelis and Palestinians.

Barakeh, however, refused to leave and told the soldiers that the only people able to make such a request were the city's true owners, the Palestinians.

The IDF relayed in response that troops were not at all violent toward the lawmaker. They employed riot control measures, the army said, after the protestors had refused to leave despite an IDF order declaring the area a closed military zone.

The army and police said according to video they took of the incident, it is clear that Barakeh was not attacked.

(Right he was not attacked and neither was Tristan Anderson!!)

VIGIL AT THE ISRAELI CONSULATE, NEW YORK CITY
FRIDAY MARCH 20TH, 2009, 4-6PM
800 2ND AVE BETWEEN 42ND AND 43RD STREETS

MORE INFO:

Tristan is unconscious, anesthetized and artificially respirated, has sustained life-threatening injuries to his brain (as well as to his right eye), and is expected to undergo several operations in the coming days.

The impact of the projectile caused numerous condensed fractures to Tristan's forehead and right eye socket. During the operation, part of his right frontal lobe had to be removed, as it was penetrated by bone fragments. A brain fluid leakage was sealed using a tendon from his thigh, and both his right eye and skin suffered extensive damage. The long term scope of all of Tristan's injuries is yet unknown. It should also be noted that soldiers at the Ni'ilin checkpoint prevented the Red Crescent ambulance from taking Tristan directly to the hospital, forcing it to wait for approximately 15 minutes until an Israeli ICU ambulance (called by Israeli activists) arrived at the scene, after which he had to be carried from one ambulance to the other.

Shot by Israel~American "Hanging by a Thread"

Tristan Anderson "Hanging by a Thread"

Here is the latest update on peaceful protester Tristan Anderson who was shot by Israeli Soldiers in the head. Rhetorical question here; “Why are Americans not outraged that Israel has attempted to murder yet another American?” I mean seriously, let us not forget the USS Liberty and all those men who have never seen justice. And what about Rachel Corrie? Her family will never see justice either. Why? Because Israel is America’s “friend.” Makes no sense does it……..With friends like these, who needs enemies I say.

U.S. activist Tristan Anderson 'hanging by a thread' after being injured in protest on Israel border

An American activist critically wounded by an Israeli gas canister in the West Bank is "hanging from a thread" after brain surgery Saturday, friends said.

Tristan Anderson, 38, a "tree-sitter" from Oakland, Calif., was hit in the forehead when troops shot tear gas during a protest of the separation barrier between Israel and the West Bank village of Naalin.

"He's really touch and go. He's hanging from a thread," friend Paul Larudee told the San Francisco Chronicle

They traveled to the West Bank to rally against the Israeli-erected barrier that could cut off Palestinian villages from valuable farmland.

BREAKING NEWS~~AMERICAN SHOT BY ISRAELI ARMY

Israel is now shooting Americans.

American demonstrator critically wounded by IDF in Israel. But never mind, any American who has sympathy for Palestine is an enemy of Israel and a supporter of “terrorism”, well, according to Israel that is!! Remember Rachel Corrie????????

American badly hurt in clash with Israeli military
JERUSALEM (AP) — An American demonstrator was critically wounded Friday in a clash between protesters and Israeli troops over Israel's West Bank separation barrier.
Peace activists with the International Solidarity Movement said Tristan Anderson, of the Oakland, Calif., area, was struck in the head with a tear gas canister fired by Israeli troops. The military and the Tel Aviv hospital where Anderson was taken had no details on how he was hurt.
"He's in critical condition, anesthetized and on a ventilator and undergoing imaging tests," said Orly Levi, a spokeswoman at the Tel Hashomer hospital. She described Anderson's condition as "life-threatening."

Wake up America, these people are your enemy, they want to kill anyone who criticizes Israel, just like they murdered Rachel Corrie by running her over with an army bull dozer, now they are using bullets.

Heads Up From Filasteen

Mark your calendars - the 5th Annual Israeli Apartheid Week will take place across the globe from March 1-8, 2009!

First launched in Toronto in 2005, IAW has grown to become one of the most important global events in the Palestine solidarity calendar. Last year, more than 25 cities around the world participated in the week’s activities, which also commemorated 60 years since the expulsion of the Palestinian people from their homes and land in 1947-1948. IAW 2008 was launched with a live broadcast from the South African township of Soweto by Palestinian leader and former member of the Israeli Knesset, Azmi Bishara. (moreinfo).
