TURKISH STATEMENT ON FLOTILLA INVESTIGATION

The following is from the Turkish Foreign Ministry:

Regarding the Investigation Commission of Israeli Raid against the Freedom Flotilla

Israel's declaration that it will establish a commission, composed of Israeli citizens and two foreign observers, in order to investigate the Israeli raid against the Freedom Flotilla does not in any way meet Turkey's clear demand or international community's expectations, which were expressed in the Presidential Statement of the United Nations Security Council.

Israel does not have the authority to assign a national commission to investigate a crime perpetrated in international waters. An inquiry to be conducted by such a commission cannot be impartial, fair, transparent and credible.

Turkey has indeed already agreed to the proposal by the UN Secretary General to establish an international commission to be composed of one Turkish, one Israeli and three international experts. We strongly condemn Israel's disregard of this proposal to date.

We expect that the international community, above all, the USA that lost a citizen of her own, support this constructive proposal by the UN Secretary General and take action in that direction without delay

Statement by the President of the Security Council


At the 6326th meeting of the Security Council, held on 1 June 2010, in
connection with the Council’s consideration of the item entitled “The situation in
the Middle East, including the Palestinian question”, the President of the Security
Council made the following statement on behalf of the Council:

“The Security Council deeply regrets the loss of life and injuries
resulting from the use of force during the Israeli military operation in
international waters against the convoy sailing to Gaza. The Council, in this
context, condemns those acts which resulted in the loss of at least ten civilians
and many wounded, and expresses its condolences to their families.

“The Security Council requests the immediate release of the ships as well
as the civilians held by Israel. The Council urges Israel to permit full consular
access, to allow the countries concerned to retrieve their deceased and
wounded immediately, and to ensure the delivery of humanitarian assistance
from the convoy to its destination.

“The Security Council takes note of the statement of the UN Secretary-
General on the need to have a full investigation into the matter and it calls for
a prompt, impartial, credible and transparent investigation conforming to
international standards.

“The Security Council stresses that the situation in Gaza is not
sustainable. The Council re-emphasizes the importance of the full
implementation of Resolutions 1850 and 1860. In that context, it reiterates its
grave concern at the humanitarian situation in Gaza and stresses the need for
sustained and regular flow of goods and people to Gaza as well as unimpeded
provision and distribution of humanitarian assistance throughout Gaza.

“The Security Council underscores that the only viable solution to
Israeli-Palestinian conflict is an agreement negotiated between the parties and
re-emphasizes that only a two-State solution, with an independent and viable
Palestinian State living side by side in peace and security with Israel and its
other neighbours, could bring peace to the region.

“The Security Council expresses support for the proximity talks and
voices concern that this incident took place while the proximity talks are
underway and urges the parties to act with restraint, avoiding any unilateral
and provocative actions, and all international partners to promote an
atmosphere of cooperation between the parties and throughout the region.”

LET’S CALL IT WHAT IT IS~
THE QUIET GENOCIDE

What is happening in Palestine is nothing short of a planned “Quiet Genocide.” Yes, “Genocide” the taboo word, unable to be uttered by the American Government, the British Government or any of the world’s major Western Players or European heavyweights. Whilst the majority of the world’s governments choose to play word games and run interference for Israel’s crimes, I thought it was time to look at just exactly what a “genocide” is, how to create one, how to make it successful, how to win. And, surprisingly enough, the International Law on Genocide was created after World War 2 at the behest of a Jewish Lawyer called Lemkin. Oddly enough, Lemkin’s work on Genocide, his mapping out of what a genocide is comprised of, how it is done, the various aspects of types of genocides, he unwittingly handed the future State of Israel a blueprint if you will, a “How To List” on committing successful genocide. So what was created in the wake of the holocaust, in turn, is now being used by the former victims of genocide to inflict genocide on others. I wonder what Lemkin would think of Israel’s actions today:

Under international law
In the wake of the Holocaust, Lemkin successfully campaigned for the universal acceptance of international laws defining and forbidding genocide. The CPPCG was adopted by the UN General Assembly on 9 December 1948 and came into effect on 12 January 1951 (Resolution 260 (III)). It contains an internationally-recognized definition of genocide which was incorporated into the national criminal legislation of many countries, and was also adopted by the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court, the treaty that established the International Criminal Court (ICC). The Convention (in article 2) defines genocide:

...any of the following acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group, as such:

(a) Killing members of the group;
(b) Causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group;
(c) Deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part;
(d) Imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group;
(e) Forcibly transferring children of the group to another group.

However, Lemkin wanted even more than he got at the UN. He had a much broader definition in mind, one that covered additional aspects of the various parts of what makes genocide successful. It’s not just about the killing or ethnic cleansing. And most of this we see today in how the Israeli aggressors and occupiers treat the people of Palestine. After all, Lemkin recognised that in order to complete a “Quiet Genocide” without using a full on military assault and wiping out the entire population in “one go” so to speak, a successful “quiet” genocide may take time, it’s a process, there are phases.

Lemkin's broader concerns over genocide, as set out in his "Axis Rule in Occupied Europe", [5] also embraced what may be considered as non-physical, namely, psychological acts of genocide which he personally defined as:

"Generally speaking, genocide does not necessarily mean the immediate destruction of a nation, except when accomplished by mass killings of all members of a nation. It is intended rather to signify a coordinated plan of different actions aiming at the destruction of essential foundations of the life of national groups, with the aim of annihilating the groups themselves. The objectives of such a plan would be disintegration of the political and social institutions, of culture, language, national feelings, religion, and the economic existence of national groups, and the destruction of the personal security, liberty, health, dignity, and even the lives of the individuals belonging to such groups. Genocide is directed against the national group as an entity, and the actions involved are directed against individuals, not in their individual capacity, but as members of the national group."•

"Genocide has two phases: one, destruction of the national pattern of the oppressed group; the other, the imposition of the national pattern of the oppressor. This imposition, in turn, may be made upon the oppressed population which is allowed to remain or upon the territory alone, after removal of the population and the colonization by the oppressor's own nationals."

So let’s look at some very recent numbers from B’Tselem that cover ONLY the last 20 years:

linkThe Israeli occupation forces (IOF) have killed 1,500 Palestinians since the start of 2009. Israel killed 7,398 PALESTINIANS including 1,537 CHILDREN and destroyed around 4,300 HOMES in just the last 20 years

And let’s look at another of the criteria of what constitutes a “Genocide” B and C respectively. (b) Causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group; (c) Deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part; And compare it with this example below, which falls under B and C above. E.g. people dying due to lack of medical supplies or treatment because of the illegal siege, part of the Genocide:

link According to a July 2009 report published by the World Health Organization (WHO) in Jerusalem, Gaza doctors and nurses do not have the medical equipment to respond to the health needs of the 1.5 million people living in the Gaza Strip. Medical equipment is often broken, lacking spare parts, or outdated.

The Israeli Defence Ministry says it is not obliged to allow into Gaza anything other than basic humanitarian supplies necessary for survival

So in the above statement we have an actual admission by the Israel Defence Ministry which falls within the confines of the definition of Genocide. By only allowing a mere smattering of food and “Basic” supplies into Gaza, and withholding medical equipment, spare parts, medicine and not allowing the sick to travel outside for treatment, is all part and parcel of “genocide.” More proof:

“The largest number of deaths due to the siege is among cancer patients,” Gaza deputy health minister Hassan Halifa said. “Radiotherapy for cancer patients is not available due to the lack of equipment, and chemotherapy is generally not available due to the lack of drugs.”

Ismail Ahmed, a 66-year-old from Shujayah, also lies in the cancer unit of As-Shifa, with a catheter for urination flowing into a wastebasket.

“We lack necessary equipment for the patients,” Abdullah Farajullah, a nurse at the unit, said.

Suffering from bladder cancer, Ismail requires blood transfusions.
“There are not enough IV [intravenous] bags. The nurses put blood into plastic water bottles to transfer into my IV bag,” Ismail said.

Due to a lack of equipment, he has been on a waiting list for over a month to have a CT (computed tomography) scan, and requires an MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) - although Gaza lacks a single working MRI scanner, according to WHO. As-Shifa lacks equipment for basic blood tests. Patients rely on family members to take their blood to certain clinics for testing.

Lastly, here is the “Genocide Checklist” created by Lemkin. Let us see how many Israel has completed: Lemkin also outlined his various observed "techniques" [6] on achieving genocide which ranged from:

• Political =DONE, Israel refuses to recognize the elected government of Palestinians. Prior to this they jailed the Palestinain leader in his own compound, on his own land, in his own country, until he “mysteriously” died.

• Social =DONE society broken down due to occupation, ethnic cleansing and no soveriegnty.

• Cultural [7] [8] =IN PROGRESS removing Palestinains culture and ethnicity from occupied areas of Palestine such as East Jerusalem.

• Economic =IN PROGRESS Israel controls al most all aspects of the Palestinain economy, via controlling FATAH in the West Bank, or via an Illegal Siege in Gaza.

• Biological =IN PROGRESS Israel controls the clean water sources and leaves Gaza with infected filthy water. Israel refuses to allow medical equipment or parts into Gaza.

• Physical: IN PROGRESS Israel murders Palesitnians on a monthly basis, either via the IDF raids into Palestine, also by beatings and arrests, internment, or allowing illegal Zionist land squatters to kill and murder unpunished. It’s all part of the overall plan.

• Endangering Health =IN PROGRESS White phosphorous, DIME missiles in December/January 2009, now refusal to allow treatment to dying and sick Palestinains. House demolitions, house bombings and other acts of de-homing people, forcing them to live outside in the elements, with no protection from extreme temperatures, thus lowering life expectancies of millions.

• Religious IN PROGRESS the fight to take over and destroy the most holy site of Muslims in East Jerusalem, Al Aqsa Mosque. The creation of a “Jewish Only” apartheid state, where all others are lesser people with less rights and equality. No such thing as equality for all.

• Moral=DONE Israel has lost all aspects of morality. The entire population save for a tiny small percentage focus only on expanding the newly created “Zionist Dream” of taking over all the land and subjugating any remaining Palestinians to life under Israeli domination in a sub division of Israel called “Palestine”

• Mass Killing IN PROGRESS see Gaza Genocide for most recent actions or these former atrocities:
During 1948 alone - 5000+ Palestinians killed.

War of Attrition - 2500 Palestinians killed.

Yom Kippur War - 1000 Palestinians killed.

Lebanese Civil War - 75 000 Palestinians killed by Israel + Lebanese people.

2000-2005 - 5 000 Palestinians killed.

Gaza War - 1500 Palestinians killed.

The First Intifida - 3 000 Palestinians killed.

Hebron Massacre 1994 - 60 Palestinians dead in Mosque.

Church of Nativity - 20 Christians killed by Israeli fire, including 2 Priests and 3 Deacons.

Al-Aqsa massacre 2000 - 35 Palestinians killed

Jenin 2002 - 53 Palestinians killed.

1982 invasion : 20,000 casualty and 8,000 in Saabra and Shatila, Deir Yassin, Jeneen massacre is more than 600 ICRC

Of course, blockades had happened in the past causing more deaths, additionally add to this list all the Jerusalemites that died, 3 former Gaza massacres (hundreds more), also Jenin and Nablus (hundreds). The deaths of Palestinian protesters, and Palestinians that died in Israeli jails or custody,(hundreds more) those murdered by illegal settlers over the years (hundreds)and of course you also have those forced to work in tunnels smuggling in food, cattle and other basic needs due to the illegal siege, (hundreds over the years) and let’s not forgot the GREAT many illegal assassinations committed by Israel on Palestinians over the last 30-60 years. Even with all this I'm sure I've left hundreds more deaths out of this list.

So, why is it that 200,000-300,000 dead Palestinians, in a prolonged “Quiet Genocide” by Israel, not constitute outrage? Why is it that Lemkin, a Jew, who worked to help stop future genocides by creating a profile that would make them recognizable to the world, or another Jew, Richard Goldstone who also fought to uphold International Law like Lemkin; why are they ignored by the world’s governments who only listen to those Jews who are currently in the process of committing the “Quiet Genocide?” That is what we should all be asking our Governments AND the United Nations….

Israel~We Own The Ocean AND Your Fish

Israel says to hungry Gazan Fisherman, “We Own The Entire Ocean and Your Fish” unless, of course, you want to spy for us...........

The Israeli occupation navy seized four Gazan fishermen on Monday morning after stopping their boats off the Gaza City coast. They were taken to Israel’s Ashdod port, north of the Gaza Strip.

Head of the Palestinian fishermen’s union Nizar Ayyash said that Israeli warships obstructed two fishing boats, taking four fishermen, all members of the As-Sultan family, while they were sailing in the As-Sudaniyya area. He said Israeli occupation navy officers beat the fishermen and also confiscated their boats.

The Israeli occupation’s navy prohibits Gazan fishermen from sailing more than three miles from the coast. If fishermen attempt to sail farther, they are pursued, shot at, detained, and often asked to become informers for Israeli intelligence. Under the Oslo peace agreements, Israel is obligated to allow Palestinians to fish as far as 20 nautical miles from Gaza.

POLL Israelis Support Settlements

Whilst the headline of this article seems impressive, when you actually look at the numbers I see other things as well. Firstly 56% support the settlements and say Netanyahu should continue settlements. Ok, so that's that. But, 37% think they should stop settlements. That's close to 40% not a small number. Whilst 50% believe that Israel can keep building them with impunity, 32% say it is a "make or break" with the US Administration. Rather then take the gloom and doom of the 56% who support illegal settlements, what I see is that reality is sinking in over time. Let us remember that this poll was taken under an extreme right wing government no less. Meaning that, taking into account any margins of error, we could be within small numbers of a 50-50 divide of support for and against settlement building to continue.

I believe that if Obama continues to push hard as he is doing now, these numbers could change again in the not too distant future. Once the penny drops and they see the writing on the wall, that is. Obama has a lot of leverage at his disposal. I'm not just talking about cutting off funding to the leeches in Israel. Admittedly this would be difficult for Obama due to the AIPAC owned congress and senate. However, secret weapons exist: the US sits on the UN Security Council, Israel does not. For years the US has been the lackey for Israel, voting exactly like Israel wants it to. Imagine if that was up for negotiations..........the mind boggles:)

Most Israelis resist US colony freeze demand: poll

Occupied Jerusalem: A new poll finds that nearly six of every 10 Israelis think Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu should resist US demands to completely freeze construction in Jewish West Bank colonies.

The poll by the Maagar Mohot Polling Institute released the poll Friday. President Barack Obama has said he wants to aggressively pursue Mideast peacemaking, and colony construction historically has been an impediment.

Fifty-six percent of those surveyed said Netanyahu should not consent to the American demand to halt all colony construction, as opposed to 37 percent who said he should. Fifty percent said failure to comply would not provoke a crisis with the US, while 32 percent said they thought the colony freeze was a "make or break" issue for Washington. link

3 Years Later~Israel FINALLY Complies to ONE UN Resolution

Ok Israel threw out a carrot, now lets all wait for the stick. During the 2006 Lebanon war, Israel dropped hundreds of cluster bombs on Lebanon. After the war was over it refused to hand over maps showing where these cluster bombs were. Hence more innocent people have died and Israel once again refused to comply with the UN's request regarding the maps for the last three years. I guess Israel figures they may still get lucky and kill off a few more innocent Arabs who might accidently step on one of these bombs. Finally and suddenly, three years later they have given over the maps. I only hope they are the real maps and are accurate. Can't say I trust Israel very much as they do have a tendancy to lie, cheat and steal. Report below:

BEIRUT (Reuters) - Israel handed over to U.N. peacekeepers Tuesday maps of where it dropped cluster bombs in Lebanon during the 2006 war with Hezbollah guerrillas, the UNIFIL peacekeeping force said.

The United Nations and the Lebanese government have repeatedly called on Israel to hand over the maps of where it dropped the munitions, most of which were fired in the last 72 hours of the 34-day war.

A U.N. Security Council resolution which halted the war called on Israel to give the United Nations all remaining maps showing land mine sites in Lebanon.

"These maps and locations should have been handed over immediately after the issuance of the international resolution," Lebanese Prime Minister Fouad Siniora said in a statement. link

UNITED NATIONS (AFP) — The Obama administration is determined to avoid delay in pursuing its goal of a two-state solution in the Middle East, the US ambassador to the United Nations, Susan Rice, said Monday.

Rice, speaking at a Security Council meeting aimed at reviving peace talks, repeated calls by President Barack Obama's administration for a Palestinian state, an end to militant violence and a halt to Israeli settlements.

Israel's new right-leaning government of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who has been invited for talks in Washington this month, has so far refused to publicly endorse the creation of a Palestinian state.

"Our interest lies not in a lengthy drawn-out process but in real results. We must not tarry," Rice told the ministerial session called by Russia in its capacity as chair of the 15-member body this month.

"This meeting of the council underscores the priority the international community places on a secure, lasting and comprehensive peace in the Middle East," the US ambassador said.

"That must include a two-state solution to the Israel-Palestinian conflict, with Israel and Palestine living side by side in peace and security," Rice said.

She added that Washington, under Obama, has already "revitalized" its efforts for a comprehensive peace between Israel and all its Arab neighbors, not just the Palestinians but also the Lebanese and Syrians.

Rice said the administration -- which last week called for the Arabs to begin making "meaningful gestures" toward ending Israel's isolation -- "intend to integrate the Arab peace initiative into our own approach."

The 2002 initiative calls for Israel to withdraw from all Arab lands occupied in 1967 in exchange for normalization of ties.

She added the Obama administration totally opposes rocket fire and terrorism against Israelis as well as a future without hope for the Palestinians. Both are "intolerable," Rice said.

"For its part, Israel must halt settlement activity and dismantle outposts erected since March 2001," she said.

"We (also) strongly support reopening Gaza's border crossing in a controlled, sustained and continuous manner with an appropriate monitoring regime," Rice said.

Such a regime, she added, would involve both participation by the international community and the Palestinian Authority, which has controlled only the West Bank since it was ousted from the Gaza Strip by Hamas militants in June 2007.

Rice spoke before the UN Security Council unanimously adopted a non-binding Russian-sponsored statement reaffirming its commitment to a "just and lasting peace" in the Middle East based on a "two-state solution." link

Someone put lead in Ban Ki Moon's pencil, today he blasted Israel, about time. Of course, we can thank Russia for calling the meeting. Chip, Chip, Chipping away at Israel. And Richard Goldstone and he crew arriving in Gaza soon for their fact finding mission. They shouldn't have trouble finding facts, there are facts all over the place. Bombed hospitals, UN facilities, school,s refugee camps, hundreds of dead children and women. Like I said, plenty of facts to charge Israel with war crimes.

UN urges Israel to change settlement policies

UNITED NATIONS (AFP) — The UN Security Council on Monday kicked off a debate on how to revive the stalled Middle East peace process, with a call on Israel to change its policy of building settlements in the Palestinian territories.

"The time has come for Israel to fundamentally change its policies in this regard as it has repeatedly promised to do," UN chief Ban Ki-moon told the ministerial session called by Russia in its capacity as chair of the 15-member body this month.

Ban said the Palestinians "continue to see unacceptable unilateral actions in East Jerusalem and the remainder of the West Bank -- house demolitions, intensified settlement activity, settler violence, and oppressive movement restrictions due to permits, checkpoints, and the barrier, which are intimately connected to settlements."

The UN boss also slammed Israel's "continued closure" of the Gaza Strip, saying it "does not weaken Israel's adversaries in Gaza, but does untold damage to the fabric of civilian life."

He noted that four months after Israel's punishing offensive in Gaza to stop rocket attacks on its territory, "we cannot get anything beyond food and medicine into Gaza to assist a population that had been in the midst of a war zone. This is completely unacceptable." source

Russia has been at loggerheads with the US regarding Washington's threat of imposing further unilateral sanctions on Iran over its nuclear dossier.

The two sides stressed the need to work harder together in collaboration with others in the field of nuclear non-proliferation (Good luck with getting Israel on board, they love their nukes and dream of using them to wipe out all Arabs)

But Russia did not back up one-sided US harsher punitive actions against Iran.

"There are collective decisions adopted in the United Nations Security Council, and those oblige all countries in the world to behave in a particular way and to fulfill certain requirements. But there are also unilateral sanctions that the United States or the European Union has imposed in addition to the UNSC with regard to Iran…We keep telling our partners that unilateral sanctions are not in line with our collective actions," Lavrov told reporters when asked about Clinton's recent remarks on Iran.

Clinton had told US lawmakers in late April that the US was 'willing' to engage diplomatically with Iran but at the same time threatened Tehran with 'very tough, crippling sanctions' if the US failed to obtain its desired results.

CLINTON: "We are in the process of laying the groundwork for making the case for tougher sanctions. We have not laid the groundwork. And I think that the case that we're making to our partners in the P-5+1 is to reach out to Iran…But we are very watchful as to how Iran responds," Clinton told reporters. (that is a threat, it is not reaching out to Iran, and threats make people go hardline. When will the US learn this)

Lavrov however said that Russia saw no "sense" in any harsh sanctions against Iran but instead sought to return Iran to the negotiating table. "But as far as pressure is concerned, if we understand by pressure, the efforts aimed at convincing Iran to return to the negotiations table - we are applying such efforts in an active and robust manner."

Russia along with other four permanent members of the UN Security Council- -US, UK, France and China- - plus Germany are discussing Iran's long disputed nuclear issue.

While the UNSC, under US pressure, has adopted three rounds of sanctions against Iran over its uranium enrichment work, Moscow disagrees to pile up pressure on Tehran and rejects any 'violent solution' to the issue. Russia says diplomacy could best solve the matter.

Despite promising a new beginning with Iran, the new US administration has apparently followed in Bush's footsteps. The Obama administration earlier extended Clinton-era sanctions in 1995. It also imposed sanctions on six Iranian firms over alleged links to Tehran's missile and nuclear work last month.

Amid efforts to solve Tehran's nuclear issue,Iran says it is open to the negotiations without any precondition which would undermine its right to use peaceful nuclear technology as a signatory to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT). (A treaty that Israel will not sign up to BTW!!) source

Well, she is bragging (in a VERY long winded and overly boring article praising Israel) about how amazing Israel’s intelligence and media are at having things leaked. You see, Israel was able to actually issue a response to the new damning UN report, BEFORE it was actually released . In fact, she goes on to say how Peres was to have had a “harsh talk” with Ban Ki Moon about said report, well before its release. Ensuring he would remove some parts of the report.

If you don’t believe my tin foil hat theory, then clearly Israel has spies within the UN committee carrying out the investigations against Israel’s crimes in Gaza. And that my friends is serious. In an astonishing illustration of the matrix of the Israeli government, the Israeli media, the role of leaking, and attempts to influence international policy and opinion, the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) sent out an email at 11:22 this morning [Jerusalem time] denouncing a UN report that has not yet been released. The MFA (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) also partially reveals the contents of a not-yet-sent letter that the UN Secretary-General has addressed to the UN Security Council.

The MFA communique states that "UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon will today (Tuesday, 5 May 2009) send to the UN Security Council [in the "letter", apparently] his response to the summary of the report of the internal inspection committee, which he previously formed. The committee examined the events in which nine UN installations were damaged during Operation Cast Lead".

In this letter, according to the statement from Israel's MFA, "Secretary General Ban criticizes the firing of Kassam rockets at Israeli towns, and praises the coordination between the Israel Defence Force (IDF) and the UN during Operation Cast Lead".

This may come as a surprise to some in the UN.

[Tuesday] morning. Peres is expected to have held a harsh talk last night with the secretary general and to demand of him to delay publication. Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman also called the UN secretary general from Rome and had a harsh talk with him. As far as is known, the secretary general made it clear that it was not possible to change the content of the report or to delay publication. The pressure is therefore focusing now on having the secretary general try to minimize the damage in the remarks he will make at the press conference that he is expected to hold after publication". source

Israel is playing hide and seek with its nukes.
Wow, if I were a betting man, I’d bet that Israel has been breaking the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty for many years. They have an estimated 80 to 200 nuclear warheads so the USA claims, but I'd bet it’s many more than that! They most likely have enough nukes to take the world out 100 times over. I hope that Obama begins the process he has claimed he would do, and remove ALL nukes, from everyone, including and beginning with Israel. And why is it that the focus is on Iran anyway, it is Israel who had the long standing pattern of attacking its neighbours AND refusing to adhere to UN resolutions, including the nuclear Non-Proliferation.Think Iraq for a moment, the US invaded it looking for supposedly "hidden weapons of mass destruction" and found none, yet we KNOW Israel has them but hides them, but that's "ok" Oh the Irony............

The US claims it seeks universal nuclear adherence to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty in remarks that specify the sole Mideast possessor of nukes -- Israel.

US Assistant Secretary of State Rose Gottemoeller told the 189 NPT signatories in a meeting on Tuesday that Washington wants the countries that have so far shunned the UN nuclear watchdog to join the pact against nukes.

"Universal adherence to the NPT itself, including by India, Israel, Pakistan and North Korea ... remains a fundamental objective of the United States," he claimed.

The top US arms control negotiator nevertheless declined to say whether Washington would in any way press Tel Aviv to join the treaty.

"The administration of President Barack Obama was encouraging all holdouts to join the treaty," Gottemoeller said.

Israel, which unleashed torrents of criticism against itself with its use of depleted uranium, white phosphorus and other unconventional arms in its latest war on the Gaza Strip, has been recently classified by the US military as "a nuclear power".

Under its policy of 'strategic ambiguity', Israel has neither admitted nor denied possessing nuclear weapons. The US has nonetheless shielded Israel -- which has an estimated 80 to 200 nuclear warheads -- from condemnation in the past 40 years.

While Washington has never pressured Israel to sign the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, it has lately been issuing calls for a "nuclear-free Middle East" -- a region in which Israel is the only nuclear power.

The so-called "don't ask, don't tell" deal commits both the US and Israel never to acknowledge information pertinent to Israeli nukes in public.

In 1986, Israeli nuclear scientist Mordecai Vanunu disclosed in the Sunday Times of London photos and the first insider account of Israel's primary nuclear facility in Dimona.

Israel has refused to heed a US call to join the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) -- which would require Tel Aviv to declare and relinquish its nuclear arsenal.

"This treaty has proven its ineffectiveness, it did not prevent countries like India, Pakistan and North Korea from acquiring nuclear arms," AFP cited a senior foreign ministry official as saying on condition of anonymity on Wednesday. source

REPORT~Gaza~UN Daily Briefing

Taken from the UN daily briefing, I have removed the portions pertaining to Israel, Gaza/Palestine. Additionally, I have included any questions and answers after the briefing points.

** Gaza -- Human Rights Council

And on Gaza, many of you have been asking for updates on the independent fact-finding mission, which the Human Rights Council is setting up to investigate international human rights and humanitarian law violations related to the recent conflict there.

The four-member fact-finding team is in Geneva this week to plan its work before heading to the region. While in Geneva, the members plan to hold a wide range of discussions, including with representatives of the concerned parties, Israel and Palestine; other Member States; civil society; and UN agencies. This is the first time the members are meeting collectively, face to face, since they were appointed in early April by the President of the Human Rights Council.

You’ll recall that the team is being led by Richard Goldstone, former Chief Prosecutor of the International Criminal Tribunals for the former Yugoslavia and Rwanda.

We don’t have further details on the upcoming mission yet, but our colleagues in Geneva are trying to organize a press encounter for the team towards the end of the week there in Geneva.

**Questions and Answers

Question: When does the Secretary-General plan to brief the Security Council on the report of the Gaza Board of Inquiry?

Deputy Spokesperson: I have nothing further on that yet. As soon as I have an update, I will let you know.

Question: The meeting with the Human Rights Council this week, do we have a list of any of the confirmed people, NGOs, members of Government that they will be meeting with when they undertake their mission to Gaza?

Deputy Spokesperson: I just read you an update on their meetings there and for further details I think you probably need to contact them directly. But, they are just starting this week and towards the end of the week they will have a press briefing there. So you’ll probably get a readout of all the contacts that they’ve had throughout the week.

Question: [Inaudible] my question. I heard over the weekend that there hasn’t been the possibility of rebuilding or dealing with the devastation in Gaza and what was pledged because of the closure of the border crossings. I wonder if there is any thought being given to doing an airlift, or doing something, because I wondered if there is precedence to having such devastation and then leaving it the way this is being left. So, is there anything going on with regard to the Secretary-General, with regard to dealing with figuring out some way to deal with this problem?

Deputy Spokesperson: I don’t have anything on any proposal for an airlift. I think these questions have been posed to John Ging in the past, he has answered them. All I can tell you is the repeated reports that we give you about the situation on the ground, in which we do flag the same concerns that you do, and that our agency partners are doing everything they can on the ground to help the people. And on the political front, the Secretary-General and others are fully engaged to try to bring an end to the humanitarian suffering on the ground.

Question: When the Security Council takes this up, will there be some effort by the Secretary-General to bring this to the Security Council debate on the issue?

Deputy Spokesperson: The Secretary-General’s envoys, when they brief the Security Council on the Middle East, every time they brief the Council, vast portions of the briefing have focused on the humanitarian situation on the ground and ways forward and to try to alleviate their plight. So, I think that effort will continue. source

FINALLY ISRAEL EXPLAINS IT ALL

Israel once again finds much fault in the new UN report condemning Israel’s slaughter of UN compounds, schools, UN workers, refugees and children. Like a Ghost Hunter/TAPS residual haunting that repeats itself over and over again. WARNING Israeli Logic ahead: You see, it was HAMAS’ tanks, drones and US supplied F-16’s with bunker busters, DIME missiles and white phosphorous bombs that caused the destruction and deaths in Gaza. Israel only had a few light rifles and home made rockets akin to large fireworks, so they couldn’t have caused all the deaths and damage. A new UN report that confirms Israel's "gross negligence and recklessness" in its Christmas war on the Gaza Strip has raised hackles in Tel Aviv.

A four-member inquiry board appointed by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on Tuesday affirmed that the Israeli army had failed to protect UN personnel and civilians that had taken shelter in UN buildings.

A 184-page report, which has not been entirely published due to Ban's objection, found Tel Aviv responsible "for the deaths and injuries that occurred within the United Nations premises and the physical damage that was done to United Nations' premises.”

In a statement, the displeased Israeli Foreign Ministry branded the report as "unbalanced, biased and oblivious to the facts."

"Israel rejects the criticism in the committee's summary report and determines that in both spirit and language the report is tendentious, patently biased and ignores the facts presented to the committee," reads the statement.

Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak was also quick to dismiss the findings, once again blaming Hamas for the casualties of the December-January operation against the strip.source

Israel also notes, that HAMAS is responsible for Swine Flu, Global Warming, Increased Hurricanes and Cyclones, worldwide obesity, crop circles AND crop failures,the AIG and US financial meltdown (Even though Bernie Madoff was Jewish, Israel claims a HAMAS insider absconded with all Bernie’s stolen money, it has been reported in an Israeli Newspaper that the money was hidden in a Gaza tunnel and has since been destroyed during Operation Cast Lead) From all of this I am only left to assume that HAMAS is also responsible for the filling that fell out of my tooth this morning. I shall immediately contact Ismail Haniya the HAMAS Prime Minister for reimbursement of said filling and also ask for compensation for pain and suffering.

MORE TORTURE Trouble for Israel

Well, well, this reminds me of Iraq, perhaps the Bush Administration learned this little trick from Israel. Hide the torture chambers, Shhhhhhhhhh,mums the word.......
Not so fast, the UN wants to see them.

The United Nations anti-torture committee has demanded access to an Israeli secret prison where torture is allegedly being practiced.

The UN Committee Against Torture in Geneva prepared a document on Israel's record on torture on Tuesday and called on Tel Aviv to release information on the alleged "Facility 1391" which is situated in an "undetermined location within Israel and which is not accessible to the International Committee of the Red Cross or detainees' lawyers or relatives."

"Allegations of torture, ill-treatment and poor detention conditions in this facility have been reported to the committee," read the document.

The committee said it had received reports according to which "Palestinian detainees are subjected by Israeli security officials to acts in violation" of the anti-torture convention, including beatings, sleep deprivations and sharp twisting of the head.

The committee is scheduled to publish a report on Tuesday's hearing on May 15.

According to reports, Palestinian detainees were kept in solitary confinement in cells that ranged from 3 to 6 square meters with no windows or access to daylight or fresh air.

Several reports from at least eight NGOs, including B'Tselem, Hamoked Center for the Defense of the Individual, Physicians for Human Rights and Amnesty International, have been received this year by the committee over Israeli violations of the UN Convention Against Torture. source

"GUILTY" Israel On Trial

Looks like Israel is about to be in a "wee spot of bother", FYI that's an Irish term for "Deep Shit" This due to their targeting of UN facilities during their genocide on Gaza. I remember quite well, watching John Ging, a fellow Irishmen, growing More and more outraged over Israel's refusal to adhere to their agreement NOT to target Ging's facilities. If you recall, Ging was actually working with an IDF contact who was given ALL coordinates of UN facilities, schools and Food/Supplies warehouses additionally, each facility was clearly marked and could be seen from above (perhaps if Israel had not used so much White Phosporous in Illegal situations, it might have seen the UN compounds and schools!!). Yet, time and time again, they were targeted. I began to think that perhaps Israel was paying Ging back for speaking out so forcefully against the Gaza Holocaust he was witnessing daily. Anyway, I knew from the resolve in Ging's face, that he would never let this go. So I am happy to see this coming to fruition. Israel needs to be held accountable for it's actions on all fronts. Just in case people have forgotten, I am including some visual reminders of Israel's handiwork on UN schools and compounds throughout this article below:

TORTURE~More On Israel Witholding Medical Treatment

I reported yesterday that the UN is investigating crimes of Torture against Israel. You see,Israel has been attempting to blackmail sick and injured Palestinians from receiving medical care by trying to force them to become Israeli spies or informers.

Every week I ask myself a simple question; "How low can Israel go?" and the answer? They continually outdo themselves, they are the lowest of lows and this report coupled with the murdering of hundreds of innocent women and children in Gaza confirms that Israel has no soul, they are no longer part of the human race. They exist alone in a vacuum, on a tiny patch of desert. Note the logic of Zionist Mark Regev (the one who during the genocide continually denied the use of White Phosporous as the pictures and videos were shown to the world) at the end of this article. Truly stunning logic, but only in "Bizarro Land" aka "Israel"report below:

Israel’s intelligence services are increasingly pressuring Palestinian patients from Gaza to spy and inform on other Palestinians if they want to enter Israel for medical treatment, a report released on Monday by an Israeli rights organization said.

Data and 30 testimonies collected by Physicians for Human Rights – Israel (PHR-I) and presented at the UN Committee Against Torture in Geneva, indicates a rise in the number of Palestinian patients interrogated and forced to provide information, usually at the Erez border crossing into Israel.

According to PHR-I, Israel’s General Security Service (GSS, known as Shabak) interrogated minors; photographed patients against their will; harassed, accused, cursed and intimidated patients during interrogations.

Patients that did not cooperate were returned to Gaza without receiving a permit to exit for medical treatment, the report said.

Between January 2008 and March 2009, at least 438 patients have been summoned for GSS interrogations at Erez Crossing, as a precondition for a review of their applications to access medical treatment outside the Strip.

The data points to an increase in the ratio of the number of interrogations to the total number of applications submitted to the authorities at Erez Crossing: from 1.45% in January 2008 to 17% in January 2009.

The following is one of the testimonies that was submitted to the UN committee:

“R., a 17-year-old cancer patient who is being treated at Sheba Medical Center in Israel, arrived at the Erez Crossing after having been informed by PHR-Israel that her departure, accompanied by her mother, had been approved. When they reached the crossing point at 9 a.m they were told to sit and wait in the departure hall. At around 11.30 three GSS men in civilian dress came over and asked R. to follow them for interrogation.

“Despite the girl's tears and pleading, one of the GSS men threatened that if she did not accompany him, he would send her back to Gaza. R. was separated from her mother and taken for interrogation. All this time, her mother was locked in the adjacent room and told to wait for her daughter.

“The interrogation lasted an hour, and in its course, the girl's cell phone was taken, she was questioned about her uncle and her father, their place of employment etc. On conclusion of the interrogation, the girl was taken back to her mother, and at the end of the day, around 17.00 she was permitted to leave for Israel

“R. … who was interrogated on 29.1.09. Testimony submitted to PHR-Israel on the same day. The patient suffers from a malignant tumor on the leg and is being treated at Shiba Medical Center in Israel.

Physicians for Human Rights-Israel is one of at least eight organizations that have submitted testimony to the Committee Against Torture, which this week is reviewing Israel's record. This year the UN is examining Israel as well as Chad, Chile, Honduras, Nicaragua and the Philippines as part of periodic reviews that it does of all nations.

The Israeli Prime Minister’s spokesperson, Mark Regev responded to the Physicians for Human Rights report saying, in remarks quoted by the Jerusalem Post, "There are unfortunately countless examples of people who have asked to come into Israel for medical reasons, and who have been exploited by terrorists," Regev said. source

Although Regev is obviously referring to the insane Israeli logic that some how HAMAS is responsible for everything in the world, like this poor little girl with cancer being terrorised and tortured by Israel, like global warming, like Swine Flu, like the assassination of Kennedy, like the financial meltdown, all of this is the fault of HAMAS. However, Regev's remarks on terrorists is 100% correct,just not by HAMAS terrorists, but rather they are being "exploited by Israeli Terrorists" I am so very happy he is finally admitting that crime to the world, it is the first step in Israel beginning to recognise it is a rogue terrorist state, after all, we already knew it long ago.....

Israeli Army Shoot 12 Year Old Child

Today the Israeli Army Child Killing Unit shot another child. But no need to worry, decent people of the world, after all they are “allowed” to shoot 12 year old children. Why? Because, according to Israel, you are no longer a child when you turn 12 years old. Never mind that the world definition of legal adult age is 18 years old, like everything else, Israel makes it’s own rules to suit it’s purpose of ethnic cleansing as was so graphically depicted in the T-Shirts the IDF soldiers gleefully wore with pregnant women and with children on them as targets. Israel has a long standing Army policy of shooting children since as far back as the year 2000, as I will point out after today's shooting report below:

Israeli forces apprehended a young Palestinian after injuring him east of Beit Hanoun in the northern Gaza Strip.

Local sources said Israeli troops seized 12-year-old Ayman Shamiyya after shooting him while he was playing. There was no word about how serious the boy's injuries were. source

So let's now take a look at an interview that was given by an IDF sharpshooter in his own words no less. The important thing to notice here (aside from the FACT that they shoot 12 year olds!!!) is that this interview was done, not now, but in 2000,(thanks Owl for pointing the date out) a whopping NINE years ago. Which, points out that this "policy" of murdering Palestinian children is just "part and parcel" of everyday life in the Israeli military.

He doesn't know how many children have been killed in the violence of the past two months, but he's sure that the army 'shoots everyone who needs to be shot.' A day in the life of an IDF sharpshooter.

A:"All the sharpshooters haven't shot children."

Q:But nonetheless there are children who were hit, wounded or killed after they were hit in the head. Unless these were mistakes.

A:"If they were children, they were mistakes."

A:"They talk to us about this a lot. They forbid us to shoot at children."

Q:How do they say this?

A:"You don't shoot a child who is 12 or younger."

Q:That is, a child of 12 or older is allowed?

A:"Twelve and up is allowed. He's not a child any more, he's already after his bar mitzvah. Something like that."

Thirteen is bar mitzvah age.

"Twelve and up, you're allowed to shoot. That's what they tell us."

Q:Again: Twelve and up you're allowed to shoot children.

A:"Because this already doesn't look to me like a child by definition, even though in the United States a child can be 23."

Q:Under international law, a child is defined as someone up to the age of 18.

A:"Up until 18 is a child?"

Q:So, according to the IDF, it is 12?

A:"According to what the IDF says to its soldiers. I don't know if this is what the IDF says to the media."

Q:And children are from 12 down. Is there no order that between 12 and 18 you shoot at the legs and not the head?

A:"Of course we try to see to it that he really is over 20."

Q:In the 10 seconds that you have.

A:"In the 10 seconds that I have, I have to estimate how old he is."

Q:And in what direction the wind is blowing, and the deviation here and there, and which way he'll jump the next moment.

A:"Yes, but there are hardly any mistakes by sharpshooters. The mistakes are made by people who aren't sharpshooters."

Q:And it turns out that they happen to hit the children's heads, and all this is just by chance?

A:"If you say you have seen children that have been hit in the head a lot, then it is sharpshooters."

Q:So what you're saying is that our definition of children is different.

Q:I want to persist in the matter of the 12-year-olds. Why was this age set?

They haven't told us any age, just that we must not shoot at children. The IDF doesn't specify ages. We take care not to kill, not to have incidents with many dead. Six dead is normal, there could have been a lot more." link

And, just to hammer home this "policy" of murdering children, yet another interview with another "Israeli Child Killer" soldier who is quite proud of his killing of a beautiful little girl called Iman, who did nothing wrong, except have the misfortune to be born Palestinian and live next to a genocidal rogue state called Israel. Again, this is a report from 2004, so this "policy" is nothing new for Israel as they have been killing children for almost TEN years, since 2000.

to shoot 13-year-old child

An Israeli army officer who repeatedly shot a 13-year-old Palestinian girl in Gaza dismissed a warning from another soldier that she was a child by saying he would have killed her even if she was three years old.

The officer, identified by the army only as Captain R, was charged this week with illegal use of his weapon, conduct unbecoming an officer and other relatively minor infractions after emptying all 10 bullets from his gun’s magazine into Iman al-Hams when she walked into a “security area” on the edge of Rafah refugee camp last month.

A tape recording of radio exchanges between soldiers involved in the incident, played on Israeli television, contradicts the army’s account of the events and appears to show that the captain shot the girl in cold blood

Captain R took the unusual decision to leave the post in pursuit of the girl. He shot her dead and then “confirmed the kill” by emptying his magazine into her body.link

So what we can see from this child killer report above, are two things, firstly, the "watchtower" asks if the girl is over 10 years old, this seems to be in breach of their insane and illegal policy of killing 12 year olds, as they now seem to reduce the age to 10 years old, so which is it Israel? 12 year olds, 10 year olds, or just all Palestinian children that are alive and breathing? Secondly, this "murdering scum soldier" believes in shooting even a 3 year old child as he stated. Makes you wonder how many more are just like this killer, given what we have seen in Gaza recently. So, I think it is clear to say that there has been, and continues to be, an open policy to murder Palestinian children by the Israeli Army. Given that Israel would be well aware of these many incidents and numbers from the last NINE years. And yet, they have done nothing to stop murdering children in all these years. Indeed, after their genocide in Gaza their "soldiers" had T-Shirts printed to celebrate killing pregnant Palestinian women and children.

Grim Future for Israeli Settlements-GOOD NEWS

The American public is waking up. There has been an overall 10% shift in loss of support for Israel since 2002. But better than that, a combined total of 3/4 of Americans polled are AGAINST settlements. This includes those who support Israel, that is significant.

Bethlehem Three-quarters of Americans think that Israel should not build settlements on occupied Palestinian land, according to an opinion poll released on Wednesday.

The poll, organized by WorldPublicOpinion.org, a project run by researchers at the University of Maryland, found that one third of Americans “show more sympathy for Israel than the Palestinians, substantially more than the 12 percent who express more sympathy for the Palestinians.”

However the largest number, 51 percent, expressed “equal levels of sympathy for each side. The percentage expressing equal levels of sympathy is up 10 points from 2002.”

Even those respondents who said they sympathize more with Israel

“feel that it should not be building settlements in the West Bank by a clear majority (64%), as do those who sympathize equally with Israel and the Palestinians (80%), and those who sympathize more with the Palestinians (96%).”

“Opposition to settlements is found among majorities of Republicans (65%), Democrats (83%) and independents (74%),” the survey of 1,004 respondents found.

The argument used by the researchers was suggested by the Palestinian delegation at the UN and read as follows: “UN resolutions 242 and 338, which were endorsed by nearly all members of the UN, including the US, called for Israel to withdraw from territories it invaded in the 1967 war. Thus, for Israel to build new settlements in these areas is illegal under international law."

The Israeli embassy in Washington suggested the following argument in favor of settlement: "Israel has a right to build settlements in the West Bank and Gaza because Jews have lived in these areas for centuries and have legitimate historical claims to property there." source

War Crimes~More Trouble for Israel

Along with Spain and Iran, add Norway to the mix now. Lawyers in Norway have filed charges of war crimes against Israel. Charged are Olmert and nine others, including Tzipi Livni, Ehud Barak. Good for Norway!

Norwegian lawyers have officially filed Wednesday in Oslo a complaint against former Israel's Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and nine other top officials accusing them of "war crimes" against the Palestinian population of the Ghaza Strip during Israeli aggression from 27 December to 25 January.

"We received the complaint. We're going to study and evaluate it before possibly transferring it to the police," said General Prosecutor Siri Frigaard. Six lawyers decided on Tuesday to lodge a complaint against Ehud Olmert, former Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni, Defence Minister Ehud Barak and seven other senior Israeli army officers. link

This little (BIG) story is bouncing around the web. It emanates from geostrategy-direct site, which is a members only page sign in. However, a handful of pro-Israel sites have gotten a hold of some of the information and it’s starting to take off. Additionally Hanan Ashwari over at MIFTAH has posted it as well. Evidently Stephen Walt, has written a dossier "Can the United States Put Pressure on Israel: A User's Guide." for the Obama Administration calling on the US to suspend all intelligence and military dialogue with Israel. Yes, you read that correctly. He outlines a way for Obama to deal with Israel in a way that excludes having to go through Congress (Owned by AIPAC) sounds like a PLAN to me!!

Obama advised to suspend intelligence, military dialogue with Israel

A leading ally of President Barack Obama and critic of the Israel lobby in the United States has outlined a proposed U.S. campaign to pressure Israel that would suspend the intelligence dialogue between the two countries.

Stephen Walt, a U.S. professor of international affairs at Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government, who co-authored with John Mearsheimer of the University of Chicago a controversial study on the Israeli lobby in the United States, has drafted recommendations for the Obama administration to pressure the new Israeli government of Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu to accept a Palestinian state in the West Bank.

Walt, regarded as influential in the U.S. diplomatic community, said the campaign should begin by administration criticism of Israel and support for United Nations resolutions that condemn the Jewish state.

"U.S. officials could even describe Israel's occupation [of the West Bank] as 'contrary to democracy,' 'unwise,' 'cruel,' or 'unjust,'" Walt wrote in the U.S. magazine Foreign Policy. "Altering the rhetoric would send a clear signal to the Israeli government and its citizens that their government's opposition to a two-state solution was jeopardizing the special relationship."

Netanyahu was scheduled to fly to Washington to meet Obama in May 2009. But on April 16, the Israeli daily Yediot Aharonot reported that Netanyahu was expected to cancel his visit amid an assessment that Obama would refuse to meet the Israeli prime minister.

"Within four years there will be a permanent settlement between Israel and Palestinians," White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel was quoted by Yediot as saying. "We don't care who the prime minister is."

Walt's report, titled "Can the United States Put Pressure on Israel: A User's Guide." marked the latest recommendations to the Obama administration to revise U.S. policy toward Israel.

In March 2009, a report by a bipartisan panel of foreign policy analysts called on the White House to pressure Israel as part of an effort to resolve the U.S. conflict with the Arab world.

Walt warned against any immediate attempt by Obama to reduce the $3 billion in annual U.S. military aid to Israel. He said this would result in a battle with the Democratic-controlled Congress. "There's a lot of potential leverage here, but it's probably not the best stick to use, at least not at first," Walt said.

"Trying to trim or cut the aid package will trigger an open and undoubtedly ugly confrontation in Congress -- where the influence of AIPAC and other hard-line groups in the Israel lobby is greatest. So that's not where I'd start."

But Walt urged Obama to reduce U.S. strategic cooperation with Israel. He said the administration could suspend the dialogue between the Israeli and U.S. intelligence communities as well as that of the Israeli military and the Defense Department. "Today, such a step would surely get the attention of Israel's security establishment," Walt said.

Walt also recommended that the United States reduce its procurement of Israeli defense equipment, another step that would not require congressional approval. Israel has sold a range of armor, munitions and platforms deployed by the U.S. military in Afghanistan and Iraq.

"Obama could instruct Secretary of Defense Robert Gates to slow or decrease these purchases, which would send an unmistakable signal that it was no longer business-as-usual," Walt said. "Given the battering Israel's economy has taken in the current global recession, this step would get noticed too. And most of these measures could be implemented by the Executive Branch alone, thereby outflanking die-hard defenders of the special relationship in Congress."
