Iran to Build 2 Power Plants in Iraq

The Iraqi government unveils a plan to build two power plants with the help of Iran to generate electricity in the war-torn country.

The agreement was reached between Iraqi officials and Iran's Energy Minister Parviz Fattah in Baghdad on Wednesday.

Iran voiced its willingness to provide Iraq with further electricity exports by installing a number of power transmission lines, Aswat al-Iraq quoted an Iraqi Ministry of Electricity statement as saying.

The two neighboring countries will construct power plants in Najaf and al-Haydariya. Iran also has agreed to build two electricity transmission lines in the Iraqi cities of Kufa and Karbala.

Iranian engineers are helping in the reconstruction of the water and power infrastructure in Iraq.

Iranian companies have been active in the reconstruction of power substations and sewage systems damaged during the 2003 US invasion of Iraq. source

Uncovered~Media Plot Against Iran

Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has unveiled a media plot hatched by the Netherlands to overthrow the Iranian government.

The Netherlands Foreign Ministry has allocated a 15-million-euro budget since 2005 to carry out a plan proposed by Farah Karimi, a Dutch lawmaker of Iranian origin, IRNA reported on Thursday.

The plan called "Media Pluralism in Iran" was aimed at launching Persian-language TV channels to undermine the Iranian government through media propaganda.

Some political restraints forced the Dutch government to finally revise its plans and substitute a series of websites instead of the planned opposition TV channels.

The Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) has also revealed the names of some of the websites that have been launched as part of the Dutch plot against Iran. source

WARNING to Israel~More Axe Attacks Will Come

Well Israel, what do you expect? People will fight back and resist way they can. As long as you live on stolen land, your army defends armed illegal settlers against unarmed Palestinians, you murder Palestinians at will, then you can expect nothing less.

A Palestinian organization calling itself the Army of Palestine Fighters threatened on Friday to strike Israeli interests “anywhere in the world.”

The group said its future attacks would be “in response to the attacks carried out on Palestinians in the West Bank, particularly the Hebron village of Safa, Jerusalem, Gaza, and those inside Israel.”

The group added in a statement that [Israeli Chief of the General Staff Gabi] Ashkinazi’s threat to carry out a new strike on Gaza is evidence of their failure in the face of the steadfastness of the Palestinians.”

The group had previously claimed responsibility for the axe attack on the illegal Israeli settlement of Bat Ayin, which left an Israeli teenager dead and a seven-year-old boy seriously injured source

UPDATE~Palestinian Blogger Al-Hadid Deportation

I wrote about this yesterday, what an outrage it is.Laila Al-Hadid and her two small children Yousef and Noor are being detained in Egypt and deported. Egypt needs to stop being Israel's agent. She runs the popular blog “Raising Yousif and Noor” and she kept everyone updated using twitter.

Bethlehem - Ma’an/Agencies - “I’m recording my ordeal with my flip mini,” Palestinian journalist Laila Al-Hadid told friends and relatives who subscribe to her Twitter service shortly after she was detained at the Cairo airport en route to her native Gaza.

News of her detention and questioning was made instantly available to the international news media via three technological innovations spurring instant communication: wireless internet at the airport, Twitter, and GroundReport.com.

First wireless internet made text communication via mobile phone instant. Second Twitter , a service allowing individuals to send text messages to a list of subscribers updating friends, family and followers on personal breaking news , allowed Al-Hadid to communicate en masse.

Third, GroundReport.com, a network of 4,000 journalists worldwide aiming at getting breaking news, video and photo to the public using local journalists who post to the site, saw one of Al-Hadid’s Twitter subscribers, “@Gazamom,” pick up the story and publish the first news of the events as little as 12 hours after her initial detention.

Al-Hadid, who is a well known blogger at “Raising Yousif and Noor,” communicated her frustrations and asked for assistance in getting government contacts via her Twitter account. She is currently in the Cairo airport with her two young children and is expecting to be deported to the United States, where she resides, Thursday evening.source

Parents of Gaza Activist Rachel Corrie Joins Discussions of "My Name is Rachel Corrie" at Unicorn Theatre

Craig and Cindy Corrie will appear for a discussion after the Friday and Saturday performances to discuss Rachel’s work and their participation in a Gaza aid delegation in March.

The parents of Rachel Corrie, the 23-year-old American killed by an Israeli Defense Forces bulldozer in Gaza six years ago, will visit Kansas City on Friday, April 10 and Saturday, April 11 to attend the play “My Name is Rachel Corrie” performed on the Unicorn Theatre’s Jerome Stage at 3828 Main Street, Kansas City, Missouri.

Craig and Cindy Corrie will appear for a discussion after the Friday and Saturday performances to discuss Rachel’s work and their participation in a Gaza aid delegation in March. The Corries joined 60 other people on the March delegation to Gaza, including Pulitzer Prize winning novelist Alice Walker. Delegates -- which included members of the Jewish and Muslim communities, as well as doctors, businesspeople, lawyers and college students – met with Palestinian aid groups, Gazan women, and United Nations officials. They also toured the aftermath of the three-week Israeli assault earlier this year and deliver 2,000 gift baskets to Gazan women, purchased through an outpouring of donations through the CODEPINK website to honor Gazan women.

Craig and Cindy Corrie have traveled and spoken extensively responding to interest in their daughter’s story. “We are encouraged that people throughout the U.S. and around the world want to know more. We hope and believe that in sharing Rachel’s story and ours that we continue her work—drawing attention to the plight of the Palestinian people and supporting those Israelis, Palestinians and internationals who are working determinedly to end the illegal Israeli occupation and to bring freedom, justice, and a secure peace to these two peoples,” Cindy Corrie said. Bizarro World Strikes Again

US Jews who lived in Israel (and now live in the USA) are suing North Korea for selling arms to Lebanon that Hezbollah used in the 2006 war with Israel. I kid you not.

In so far as this "lawsuit" against North Korea, then Palestinians should definitely sue America for providing the DIME missiles and other weapons that were CLEARLY used in an ILLEGAL way in Gaza!! Someone should investigate this option, because with all the UN investigations, all the evidence, and the agreement (refer to what Dennis Kucinich said about this) between the US and Israel as to how the US supplied weapons can (or cannot be used) is in breach of that agreement. That makes the US libel as well as Israel. Report below:

Hezbollah-hit Americans sue North Korea

WASHINGTON (AFP) — US citizens in Israel injured by Hezbollah rockets on Friday sued North Korea seeking more than 100 million dollars, saying the communist state assisted the Lebanese Shiite group.

Hezbollah in 2006 fired thousands of missiles into northern Israel, which launched a deadly month-long offensive against its northern neighbor.

In a lawsuit filed in the US District Court in Washington, 30 Americans who said they were injured in the rocket attacks accused North Korea of helping Hezbollah build underground bunkers to safely store their Katyusha rockets.

"As a facilitator of the Hezbollah rockets, North Korea is financially liable to all those Americans injured by the terrorists," lawyer Nitsana Darshan-Leitner said in a statement.

Tiny Country Raises BIG Money for Gaza

Wow, this is so great. Borneo has raised a whopping $1,136,711.60 for the
Palestine Humanitarian Fund, KUDOS to Borneo!

The Palestine Humanitarian Fund yesterday received another donation of $600 from the Mukim Mentiri Consultative council. The proceeds of the donation came from hiking activities to Mentiri Hill, which was organised by Mukim Mentiri Consultative council.

The donation was received by the Deputy Director of Community Development Department, Dyg Hjh Misnah binti Hj Bolhassan from Pengarah Hj Abd Rahman bin Hj Naim, Penghulu Mukim Menitri.

With the donation, the Palestine Humanitarian Fund has now collected $1,136,711.60, which includes contributions from SMS Brunei Prihatin. The Department of Community Development as the secretariat of the fund hopes that members of the public will continue to contribute further to the fund before April 13. source

Seder Prayer~Ten Plagues on Palestine

For those who have never visited this site, you are really missing out on some great stuff:)

Bennie Yahoo Prays for Ten Plagues on Palestine at Israeli National Seder

Ben Jamin Netan Yahoo stood at the Passover celebration at the national Israeli Seder and prayed for the Ten Plagues on Egypt from the Biblical Exodus story to be visited upon Palestine. BJ-NY went further as he explained how modern Israelis no longer need to suffer and wait for long suffering and slow moving Ha Shem:

" Today in Israel we can help Ha Shem along with missiles, rockets, bombs and tanks. The modern Egyptians and their Pharoah in Gaza and the West Bank will feel the might of Yahweh's right arm as American signed sealed and delivered weapons of mass destruction are unleashed upon the godless oppressors disguised as really poor refugees and strangers in a strange land."

When Nat Yahoo was asked if he did not see the resemblance of Israel to the Egyptian slave masters and the Palestineans to the downtrodden Israelite slaves, the new Israeli Pharoah declared that the slaves' rations should be cut and their work hours extended source

US Jewish Leaders Angry at Obama~Oh Well

The first US Presidential Seder in History, and the reaction of the US Jewish communities leaders are, well, a picture is worth a thousand words they say:

They all expected to be invited, so now they are angry. And, there is stirring in the Zionist circles that the Seder is to soften the Zionists up, before Obama sticks it to Israel on the peace process. Let's all hope so!

Jewish leaders are miffed as to why they weren't invited to tonight's White House seder, the first on record that will be attended by the U.S. president. Wrote a staffer who sought to remove the dinner from the official White House schedule, "Apparently Jewish [sic] here and in neighboring states are now calling wondering why they have not been invited.”

The email was accidentally released by a sleepy staffer, the White House said. The Obamas are keeping the seder traditional, ie, intimate, with prominent Jewish staffers Rahm Emanuel and David Axelrod skipping the event to spend the holy feast with their families, Politico reports. Still, proving that there is little President Obama can do these days without attracting some controversy, Jewish leaders aren't just mad over not snagging an invite.

According to the National Review's Tom Gross, "Many in Israel fear that Obama’s Passover meal may be a stunt designed to soften up Jewish Democrats for what are likely to be some strong differences with the new Israeli government." source

Shock & Awe~Israel's Deputy FM Goes Deaf

I have come to the conclusion that Racists are deaf. Here's why;
The Yisrael Beiteinu party is the racist Zionist party of Avigdor Lieberman who is the Foreign Minister now, however, it appears that the Deputy Foreign Minister Daniel Ayalon (same party) has suddenly lost his hearing and gone deaf. Either that, or he is suffering from a room temperature IQ, my guess is it's probably both. Anyone who listened to Obama's speech in Turkey would have clearly heard his reference to the Annapolis Agreement and his commitment to a two state solution. This was Obama's very CLEAR response, after Lieberman's insane rant where he claimed Israel does not have to adhere to the Annapolis Agreement. Haaretz takes this on below:

Deputy FM: Obama's Ankara speech did not favor Annapolis

Deputy Foreign Minister Daniel Ayalon (Yisrael Beiteinu) said Friday that U.S. President Barack Obama's speech in Turkey earlier this week did not include any support for the Annapolis peace process, Army Radio reported.

Ayalon denounced calls which interpreted Obama's reference to the Israeli-Palestinian negotiation launched in Annapolis in 2007 as a warning against the policies of Israel's government, led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and against Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman's statement that the new government was not bound by Annapolis understandings.

Speaking before the Turkish parliament on Monday, Obama said that he will "actively pursue" a two-state solution in the Middle East and reiterated the U.S. commitment to the Annapolis process.

"Let me be clear: The United States strongly supports the goal of two states, Israel and Palestine, living side by side in peace and security," he said. A two-state solution "is a goal that the parties agreed to in the road map and at Annapolis," and that is "a goal that I will actively pursue as president."

(For my ears, you can't get any clearer than that, now can you?)

For his part, Ayalon said that "Anyone who bothered to pay close attention could see that Obama said nothing in favor of Annapolis."

(See what I mean there? Racists ARE deaf or stoooooopid!, or BOTH!)

"Actually, it's the other way around, he said that he hopes both Palestinians and Israelis are committed to the Road Map, as was stated in Annapolis," he added.

(Delusional nutter, someone should get him help.)

The deputy minister added that he "met American officials on Tuesday night, and things aren't quite the way they are portrayed in the newspaper articles, and I think that the Americans noticed the substantial statements made by Lieberman in his inauguration speech, according to which Israel was committed to all the previously ratified agreements, including the Road Map."

Racists are deaf.............

Angry Over Boycott~Zionist Lobby Strikes In England

Tesco criticised for Israeli goods boycott hotline

Tesco has come under fire from the pro-Israel lobby after setting up a customer helpline option for people to complain about it stocking Israeli products.

A recorded message told callers ringing its general customer services number: "If you are ringing regarding Israeli goods, please press one."

The supermarket said it set up the line, which is no longer available, in anticipation of a high level of calls after the Palestine Solidarity Campaign called for a boycott of Israeli goods and urged its supporters to phone Tesco and Waitrose on 30 March about their stance on selling Israeli and Israeli settlement produce. Tesco insisted it had not meant to cause offence and said it apologised if any had been taken.

Anyone choosing the option, which was designed so customers with other queries would not find the line clogged, would have been put through to specially briefed call centre staff, the chain said.

Jonathan Hoffman, the Zionist Federation co-vice-chair, said Israel had been made a scapegoat, the Jewish Chronicle reported. "The risk is that supermarkets will say it's too much of a problem to stock Israeli goods," he told the newspaper.
(God I hope so, stop selling Israeli goods!!!)

A Tesco spokesman said: "We were made aware that a campaign group had asked supporters of its specific cause to call supermarkets. In order that any caller could be directed to an appropriate customer services operator, a call option was added to the usual menu.

"Our only aim was to be helpful, and if we have caused anybody offence unintentionally, we apologise."

2nd Aid Convoy Arriving Soon in Gaza

Italy and Scotland taking up the reins after the successful Viva Palestina convoy led by George Galloway into Gaza. Story below:

Two solidarity convoys will arrive in besieged Gaza Strip via Egypt in the coming three weeks, a Palestinian official in Gaza reported.

According to Adel Zu’rub, the spokesperson of the official anti-siege committee in Gaza, the first convoy, led by Scottish lawmaker Pauline McNeill, will arrive next Tuesday via the Rafah border crossing. The convoy is carrying medical supplies.

A second 100-vehicle convoy will set out from Milan, Italy, travelling to Alexandria, Egypt, by boat and then continue to Gaza, aiming to arrive on 3 May. The Italian effort is also carrying medical supplies. source

Tristan Anderson UPDATE

Activists launch fundraiser for injured ISM protester

Pro-Palestinian activists this week launched a fundraising drive to cover hospital costs for an uninsured American protester critically wounded last month by police in the West Bank. Meanwhile his family is preparing to sue the state. Police say the troops followed protocol. Tristan Anderson, 38, was hit in the forehead by a teargas canister fired by a border policeman in the village of Na'alin during a demonstration against Israel's contested security barrier.

Comatose, Anderson has undergone three brain surgeries at Tel Hashomer hospital, including partial removal of his frontal lobe. A brain fluid leak was sealed using a femoral tendon and his right eye suffered extensive damage. It is not clear if he will survive.

The demonstration was organized by the International Solidarity Movement (ISM), a controversial organization which brings Westerners to "resist Israeli occupation of Palestinian land" by "direct-action methods," as stated in the group's charter.

"Tristan is without medical insurance in the U.S. and will need substantial financial assistance to continue long-term treatment," the movement advertised on a mini-site it built for Anderson. "We ask that supporters around the world donate what they can to help."

The man's parents, Nancy and Michael Anderson, who flew out to Israel from their home in central California, confirmed through their attorney that "there are money issues" but said they weren't behind the fundraising drive. The parents, who refused to be interviewed, have retained Sfard to conduct an independent probe into the incident, in preparation for a legal fight to get Israel to assume responsibility for the injury.

"So far my investigation has produced evidence that look very bad," said Sfard, who collected testimonies in Na'alin last Thursday. "It appears border police took up an elevated position to snipe with canisters at protesters returning from a demonstration."

A Swedish activist who said he saw the shooting told Anglo File that it was unprovoked. "The policeman approached from behind a building when everything was quiet," said the man, an ISM member who identified himself only as John.

A 30-year-old government employee staying on a tourist visa, John added he was 30 meters away from Anderson at the time. The policeman who fired the canister was 60 meters away, he said. "Clearly troops are using canisters as projectiles and not for crowd dispersal," John said. Avi Biton, the spokesperson for the border police's Judea and Samaria district, said the canister discharged accidentally.

"We believe Israel should not only pay for Anderson's medical expenses, but take full responsibility for his shooting," Sasha Solanas from ISM's Media Office said. "Anderson was standing inside the village and the demonstration had dispersed." Solanas also said the shooting "continues a pattern of behavior by the Israeli military of firing teargas canisters directly at protesters in violation of Israeli army orders and international standards."

JEWISH LOBBY AT IT AGAIN

What is it with these people? They want to censor the world, let me remind everyone that this same group, the ADL (Anti_Defamation League)were the ones behind the ban on George Galloway in Canada. Now, they are going after Desmond Tutu who is to speak at a Michigan University. well, I can understand Israel's problem with Tutu. After all, Israel supported the apartheid government in South Africa and continues it's own version of Apartheid in Israel against Palestinians. Once a racists, always a racist. Please, America, get these Zionist Israeli agents out of your politics and country, next they will start censoring the Internet, Oh sorry, forgot, my bad, they already ARE doing that HERE, HERE, HERE, and HERE!! Story on Tutu below:

Anti-Defamation League asks MSU to reconsider Tutu

In a letter sent last week, the Anti-Defamation League asked Michigan State University President Lou Anna Simon to reconsider the invitation extended to Archbishop Desmond Tutu to give the university’s commencement address next month.

The Jewish advocacy organization said the South African cleric, whose opposition to Apartheid earned him the Nobel Peace Prize in 1984, had made statements about Israel that “conveyed outright bigotry against the Jewish homeland and the Jewish people.”

It said he supports a cultural and academic boycott of Israel “based on ideas that are anti-Semitic and should be anathema to any institution of higher learning truly committed to academic freedom.”

Simon responded earlier this week. She said no.

While noting that university leaders had publicly opposed such a boycott, she wrote in a letter dated Monday, “Michigan State University rejects the notion that free intellectual exchange and scholarly activities should be casualties of political disagreement.”

Arabs Put Peace Plan to Obama

AMMAN (JT) - A delegation comprising seven Arab foreign ministers as well as Arab League Secretary General Amr Musa is expected in Amman on Saturday, Prime Minister Nader Dahabi said Thursday.

The delegation is scheduled to discuss with His Majesty King Abdullah his upcoming visit to Washington and his talks with US President Barack Obama, Dahabi said at a meeting with chief editors of daily newspapers.

“We are keen to familiarise the Obama administration with our position. The administration wants to understand the positions of the parties involved before taking any action,” he said.

The deal offers Israel collective Arab recognition in exchange for Israeli withdrawal from territories it occupied in the 1967 war, the establishment of a Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital and a just solution to the problem of Palestinian refugees.source

Jewish Paranoia a Must Read

Paranoia is a social disease — you get it from screwing other people.

This is SUCH a great post by by Dr. Paul Balles over at Pacific FreePress he sums up waht we all know only too well. Israel is suffering from a severe disease called "paranoia" a must read!

A pressing problem: paranoia and power

Today, America is involved in an illegal "war" and a pre-emptive pregnancy. Everyone now knows that the invasion and occupation of Iraq were, and still are, based on a fraudulent attempt to capitalize on 9/11.

Everyone (who pays attention to politics) knows that the WMD excuse for invading Iraq was a fraud, making the entire murderous exercise even more illegal than a defensive war would be.

The only thing America and the UK were defending by invading Iraq was the vague possibility that sometime in the distant future Iraq, under Saddam Hussain or another leader like him, could pose a WMD threat to Israel.

Let's face it, Israel is paranoid. According to Canadian Mordecai Richler, Jewish paranoia has become a natural phenomenon. As he expressed it, "Coming from Canada, being a writer and Jewish as well, I have impeccable paranoia credentials."

Many will argue that Israelis have a perfect right to be paranoid based on their experiences with persecution and genocide. However, that does not give Israel the right to exercise their paranoid reactions against Gaza or transmit its national disease to America.

Now, out of the same paranoid delusions toward Iran as it had toward Iraq, Israel makes continued efforts to goad and provoke America into engaging in a war with Iran. America resists (or pretends to), giving itself the excuse of trying to approach negotiations with Iran, but finding Iran uncooperative.

According to mental health experts, “paranoia is incurable. The best course is to discharge the patient for the sake of the supporter’s health.” In short: leave Israel to its sickness. READ THE REST HERE

Mitchell & Obama~ Knew Adams Would Meet Hamas

Ha Ha Ha, the two beards meet:) LOL

It appears as if our people will be helping as contacts within the peace process perhaps. This is why Israel had to ultimately let Adams into Gaza after threatening not to. It seems that George Mitchell (and Obama) was well aware of Adams planned visit and more over, Adams himself will be briefing Mitchell on his meetings when he leaves Gaza.

GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip (AP) - The leader of Irish Republican Army-linked Sinn Fein party met with the head of the internationally shunned Hamas government during a two-day visit to Gaza and said he plans to brief President Obama's special Mideast envoy about his contacts.

Gerry Adams, a key player in Northern Ireland's peace process, met with Hamas Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh late Wednesday and planned more talks with officials of the Islamic militant group Thursday.

Haniyeh's meeting with Adams, at an undisclosed location in Gaza City, was not announced ahead of time. TV footage from a local news outlet showed Adams sitting in an armchair next to Haniyeh

"We want to help. We support the Palestinian people," Adams said.

Adams told The Associated Press in an interview Wednesday he said he met Obama's special Mideast envoy George Mitchell in Washington last month and told him of his plan to visit Gaza. He said he plans to "brief the Irish government, friends in the U.S., others I deal with internationally, and that would include Sen. Mitchell."

Mitchell did not meet with Hamas officials during a visit to the region several months ago. Mitchell and Adams have known each other since the former U.S. senator helped broker a Northern Ireland peace deal in the 1990s.

Sinn Fein is a political party linked to the Irish Republican Army _ a group that, like Hamas, was labeled terrorist because of violent tactics used to battle Britain. But unlike Hamas, Sinn Fein engaged in negotiations that transformed it into a legitimate political player, recognized by Britain and local foes.

Haniyeh welcomed Adams as "a man of rich political experience who faced circumstances in Ireland similar to what we face in Gaza."

Hamas, which seized control of Gaza by force in 2007, is widely shunned by the West. Some European politicians have called for dialogue with Hamas, but few Western politicians have met with Hamas officials. Hamas is considered a terrorist group by Israel, the U.S. and the European Union.

A willingness to talk and compromise produced success in the case of Northern Ireland. Following the IRA's cease-fire in 1997, Sinn Fein joined in negotiations with other parties and the British and Irish governments, and is now the second-largest political party in Northern Ireland.

He also said Gaza's border crossings _ kept tightly closed by Israel and Egypt since the Hamas takeover _ should be opened. source

Galloway Joins US Gaza Convoy

Galloway urges Americans to bring aid to Gaza

HOT on the heels of his aid convoy from the UK to Gaza, George Galloway has announced he is joining forces with a convoy from America.

The Bethnal Green and Bow Respect MP is linking up with his friend Vietnam veteran Ron Kovic, whose story inspired the movie Born of the Fourth of July.

The pair became friends as they are both active in the Stop the War campaign.

Mr Galloway has just completed a speaking tour of the US after he was banned from entering Canada where he has been regarded as a security risk.

But the United States government had no qualms in allowing him enter America.

Mr Galloway said: "We aim for $10 million in aid and 500 vehicles for Gaza."
His recent convoy from the UK saw volunteers travel in 100 vehicles with £1 million of aid.

Galloway announced the initiative at a 1000-strong meeting in Anaheim in South California, rounding off a packed-out, coast to coast speaking tour highlighting the Palestinian cause.

Volunteers will fly out to Egypt and source aid in the Middle East before heading to Gaza through the Rafah crossing and symbolically plan to start their mission on American Independence Day, July 4.

Report From Gaza~

Here is a report from An Phoblacht, Sinn Fein's weekly Political paper:

A frontline report from Palestine's Gaza Strip

White Phosphorous bombs – a legacy of suffering

DURING Israel’s three-week long offensive on Gaza launched on 27 December, the Israeli Army used internationally-banned weapons according to foreign military and medical experts. American-made white phosphorus shells were used in populated areas across the Gaza Strip, home to about 1.5 million people.

Dr Nafez Abu Shaban, head of the Burns Unit at Shifa Hospital, Gaza’s largest medical centre, has treated dozens of patients who suffered severe burns. He is keeping a piece of phosphorus covered under sand in a jar to prevent it from being exposed to oxygen.

“Of course, at the beginning of the war, we thought they were normal burns,” Dr Shaban says, “but then patients came back to the hospital suffering from severe pain, and some patients even died. Patients who suffer from 15 per cent surface burns should not die, so we started to ask why.

“Some of the doctors who came to Gaza to help us seemed to have experienced these burns as a result of the use of white phosphorous bombs.”

FAMILY KILLED

More than three months have passed since Israel ended its war but it has left legacies of suffering and sad memories. Life has returned to normality for many people but Sabah Abu Halima, who was burnt from head to toe and lost her husband and four children, is still in pain. She has weekly physiotherapy sessions at Shifa Hospital.

We visited her at her house in the northern Gaza Strip town of Seyafa, about 1km from the Strip’s northern border with Israel.

She showed us around her house which was burned as a result of white phosphorous shell that fell on her family’s 16 members through the roof “We had a happy home,” she tells us. “I lived in this house in security with my husband and children. I was the happiest person in the world but all of that changed when, on 4 January, the Israeli Army entered our village and fired two phosphorous shells that penetrated our roof and burnt us while we were having our lunch. The fire was like lava. My family were burnt and their bodies turned to crisps.”

Phosphorous shells penetrated our roof and burnt us while we were having our lunch. The fire was like lava. My family were burnt and their bodies turned to crisps
– Mother Sabah Abu Halima, who lost her husband and four children in an Israeli attack. The mournful mother, who is still unable to walk or talk properly, said the house was completely engulfed in flames but she found a photo of her youngest daughter, Shahad, who was only 15 months old. I asked her to comment on the writing which was left on the wall of her bedroom that reads: “From the Israeli Defence Force, we are sorry!”

She says:

“I demand the whole world and international human rights organisations to sue the killers of my family. They killed so many innocent people who tried to rescue us.
“What was the guilt of my children and my baby Shahad? Their sorry will not bring back my family. I’m still physiologically and mentally in pain. I can’t even pick up a cup of tea now. My life will never be the same.” She has tears in her eyes.
Some Israeli soldiers have admitted they killed civilians under the so-called rules of engagement. Acts of vandalism, violating medical ethics, using civilians as human shields and indiscriminate killing was obvious through the use of lethal force.

INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY

The use of internationally-banned weapons by Israeli forces will leave many with long-term illnesses and it is believed that the area will remain contaminated, putting locals at risk of contracting sickness.

Dr Shaban wants the international community to put pressure on Israel to tell the truth.

“We need to know to know if uranium was used. Were others banned weapons used? We need to know the long-term implications. Will these weapons cause cancer?
“It’s the duty of the international community to investigate this matter. Now we hear many people are still afraid to eat vegetables planted in areas where phosphorous was used because it might be contaminated with radiation.”

The war has changed the lives of many people like Sabah and left a story in every house in besieged Gaza. More than 1,400 Palestinians were killed, most of them civilians, including 313 children. About 5,500 were injured.

Sabah’s tragedy is one of many documented by many international lawyers and fact-finding missions but whether those behind these crimes will be brought to justice remains to be seen.

TROUBLE~Former Israeli Consulate Picked by Obama & MORE

Students in Lebanon burn pictures of Feltman & Bush

Whassup with this Jeffrey Feltman pick? Not looking good I'm afraid, it may be that Israel had a hand in this pick, keep reading! Where was he working before Obama made this appointment? " his most recent assignment was at the U.S. Consulate General in Jerusalem, where he served first as Deputy (August 2001-November 2002) and then as Acting Principal Officer (November 2002 to December 2003)."and this:
Nasrallah Label
In a speech following the Israeli operation in Lebanon in 2006, the "Secretary-General" of Hizbollah, Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah, dubbed Fouad Siniora's government in Lebanon as Feltman's Government. Nasrallah's label stressed what Hizbullah sees as Feltman's deep influence on the Lebanese government's decisions. The title of "Feltman's Government" has since been widely used among several opposition parties in Lebanon whenever referring to Siniora's government.

Uh Oh, and there’s more icky stuff below:

Mass Demonstrations against the US backed Lebanese Government

The Western media, which often downplays the size of public rallies and anti-war demonstrations, confirms that "hundreds of thousands" of people from all sectors of Lebanese society gathered in Beirut in anti-government demonstrations, demanding the resignation of the US-Israeli supported government of Prime Minister Fouad Siniora.

The Beirut government is taking orders directly from the US embassy. The Siniora government has allowed the deployment of NATO forces on Lebanese territory under the pretext of a UN sponsored peace-keeping operation. NATO warships under German command are stationed off the country's Eastern Mediterranean coastline. NATO has a military cooperation agreement with Israel.

The banners read "Down with Feltman's government," in reference to US ambassador Jeffrey Feltman:

"We want a national unity government," "We want a clean government"
Police source estimated the crowd at 800,000 people, almost half the population of the Beirut metropolitan area. Organizers said it was much larger. (Associated Press).

The significance of the rally has been casually dismissed. According to the BBC, it was organized by Hezbollah and its so-called "pro-Syrian allies".
The rally had little to do with Syria. It demanded the resignation of an illegal government, which supports the interests of US and Israel.

All sectors of Lebanese society are demanding the resignation of the government. A majority of the Christian Maronite community is firmly behind the protest movement: "I call on the prime minister and his ministers to resign" said Michel Aoun: "I wish that the prime minister and his ministers were among us today, not hiding behind barbed wire and army armored carriers.

He who has his people behind him does not need barbed wire," Emile Lahoud, the country's president, has also confirmed in that the Siniora government has violated the country's constitution: "This government is no longer legal because it is not representative of all the country's religions,'' he said, following the resignation of five cabinet ministers from Hezbollah, Amal as well as one Christian loyal to President Emile Lahoud.

So, is it going to be business as usual in the Middle East with the US picking and chooseing for other countires who governs them? Because, Gee, this gas worked SO well in the past....................NOT! Remember the Shah of Iran? After that the country went to what it is now. Time for the US to STOP attempting to control other countries, let them pick their own leaders and let the US and Israel deal with them. Attemtping to control governments has been a huge part of what has turned worldwide public opinion AGAINST America, and when America and Israel work TOGETHER on this, well, no good can come of it for America. Hey Obama?? Where's my "change"

What About ISRAEL? US Court Allows Apartheid Claims

I wonder if this can be used against Israel. Israel used US made weapons illegally and broke the agreement between the US and Israel for the legal use of those weapons for "defensive" purposes only.

US court allows apartheid claims

A United States judge has ruled that lawsuits can go ahead against several companies accused of helping South Africa's apartheid-era government.

IBM, Ford and General Motors are among those corporations now expected to face demands for damages from thousands of apartheid's victims.

They argue that the firms supplied equipment used by the South African security forces to suppress dissent.

Now I find this interesting, I wonder if this can set a precedence for going after companies that made the weapons that murdered civilians, the illegal use of White Phosphorous on civilians, the DIME missiles, etc, all made in the USA and used in an illegal fashion on Palestinians who were corralled into an area and then murdered or incinerated. Wonder what Dennis Kucinich thinks about this as he said long ago that Israel's illegal use of the weapons breached the agreement between the US and Israel for the legal use. more below:

The companies affected have not yet responded to the judge's ruling.

'Wilful blindness'

US District Judge Shira Scheindlin in New York dismissed complaints against several companies but said plaintiffs could proceed with lawsuits against IBM, Daimler, Ford, General Motors and Rheinmetall Group, the German parent of an armaments maker.

"Corporate defendants accused of merely doing business with the apartheid government of South Africa have been dismissed," she said.

The plaintiffs argue that the car manufacturers knew their vehicles would be used by South African forces to suppress dissent. They also say that computer companies knew their products were being used to help strip black South Africans of their rights.

The judge disagreed with IBM's argument that it was not the company's place to tell clients how to use its products.

"That level of wilful blindness in the face of crimes in violation of the law of nations cannot defeat an otherwise clear showing of knowledge that the assistance IBM provided would directly and substantially support apartheid," she said.

MUST READ "Press One To Boycott Israel"

This little story made me laugh, it's too good not to share and pass along. GREAT post from Jews Sans Frontieres below, you can read it all here:

Boycott one get one free!

Tescos has set up a boycott helpline, according to the Jewish Chronicle: Pro-Israel groups have attacked Tesco for setting up a customer helpline for those considering boycotting Israeli goods. Tesco says it provided the service in expectation of calls questioning its stocking of products from Israel and the West Bank.

Callers selecting the general information option on its customer helpline hear the recorded message: “If you are ringing regarding Israeli goods, please press one.” They are then connected to specially-trained call centre staff.(ROTFLMAO)

NO NUKES~Clinton in Talks with Australia~Israel a Holdout!

Australia, US to lay path for nuclear disarmament

WASHINGTON (AFP) — The United States holds high-level security talks with Australia as the longtime allies find a new convergence of views on the need to abolish nuclear weapons.

The session marks the first substantive talks between the Pacific nations since US President Barack Obama held a warm first summit with Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd at the White House two weeks ago.

The talks "will cover, in depth, a wide range of bilateral, regional and global issues," Secretary of State Hillary Clinton told reporters Wednesday after meeting with Australian Foreign Minister Stephen Smith.

Smith and Clinton will be joined in Thursday's talks by Australian Defense Minister Joel Fitzgibbon and US Defense Secretary Robert Gates.

The talks come days after Obama delivered a major speech in Prague where he laid out a vision for a world without nuclear weapons.

The speech was likely music to the ears of Rudd -- described by some analysts as a "political soulmate" to Obama -- who last year charted out his own path for nuclear disarmament.

Smith and Fitzgibbon, in a statement before heading to the US capital, described Obama's speech as "landmark."

They said the Washington talks "will include Australia and the United States' shared goal of a world free of nuclear weapons."

Rudd set up a commission of experts co-chaired by Australia and Japan who will seek to lay the groundwork for next year's review conference of the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).

The last review conference of the treaty in 2005 ended in disarray, with then US president George W. Bush's administration unenthusiastic about entering international commitments on disarmament.

Obama has sharply changed course, saying he will ask the Senate to ratify the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty, which bars any nuclear explosions for any purpose around the world.

But a number of countries remain holdouts to the test ban treaty, among them China, India, Israel, North Korea and Pakistan.

EU Calls for SUSPENSION of Israeli-EU Agreements

SNP Member of the European Parliament Mr Alyn Smith has reiterated his call for the EU-Israel Association agreement to be suspended in order to pressure the Israeli government to abide by the international commitments made towards the welfare of the Palestinian people.

The call came after Smith met in Brussels with Scots involved in the "Peace Cycle" initiative, which has seen young volunteers cycle from Amman to Jerusalem and yesterday delivered a 15,000 petition to the European Parliament calling for the suspension of the Association Agreement. Smith's call comes also in the light of comments made by Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman that Israel need not be bound by the Annapolis accords.

Smith said:

"Things are going from bad to worse in the Middle East, and the EU as a whole continues to send precisely the wrong signals to the increasingly intransigent Israeli government. At least Mr Lieberman does not pretend to have any regard for human rights, where a number of his predecessors have pretended to talk about peace while all the while undermining any chance of a viable Palestinian state at all.

"The EU has to recognise that the Israeli government is not a partner in peace, it is the primary opponent of it. Until we use our collective economic and political power to bring them to the negotiating table we will only continue to watch things go from bad to worse.

"When I visited Gaza, the West Bank and Israel I saw for myself the daily humiliations inflicted upon the Palestinian people, making the economy of Palestine a basket case, brutalising the population and in itself encouraging violence, which is then used to justify further aggression. I favour a two state solution but there has to be two viable states in the first place and the Israeli government is being permitted to undermine at every turn any chance the Palestinians have of establishing any viable economy.

"I commend the efforts of the Peace Cycle campaign, and certainly support their call for the EU to get real in our collective dealings with Israel.

"The phrase I heard from an Israeli peace activist in Haifa still rings in my ears; that "Israel must be saved from itself" is becoming more and more true with every day that passes. The EU must match the hand wringing and humanitarian aid with hard action to bring the Israeli government to account, and the only weapons we have at our disposal are economic ones." SOURCE

Hamas Request to Resume Resistance Against Israeli Settlers

Israeli racist zionist settlers on stolen illegal land have the protection of the israeli army with tanks and weapons daily. Just yesterday a group of ARMED zionist settlers attacked a Palestinian village, yet when the IDF arrived they protected the illegal murdering settlers and used their weapons against the victims. So, I say hamas has the right to defend it's people, JUST like Israel does! Story below:

Hamas urges PNA to halt security coordination with Israel

GAZA, April 9 (Xinhua) -- Islamic Hamas movement urged on Thursday the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) to halt security coordination with Israel in the West Bank, and give a free hand to militants to resist the Israeli settlers.

Fawzi Barhoum, Hamas spokesman in Gaza said in a written statement sent to reporters that after frequent attacks of the settlers "on our people in the West Bank, security coordination must stop and resistance should resume."

On Wednesday, 48 Palestinians were injured, two were in critical conditions during clashes with Israeli soldiers near the southern West Bank city of Hebron. Hamas said the settlers were protected by the Israeli army.

"The serious Israeli escalation in Jerusalem as well as in Gaza and the West Bank, in particular the settlers attacks on our people in Hebron won't happen if there was no security coordination and there was resistance," said Barhoum.

The PNA and Israel has security agreements of coordination, upon the signed interim agreements reached in the 1990s. The PNA security forces had cracked down on militant groups in the West Bank, mainly Hamas and Islamic Jihad.

"Disarming the resistance has given full opportunity to the Zionist rappers to target our people in Hebron, in Selwan and in Jerusalem. It also encouraged them to escalate their attacks on our people," said Barhoum.

After right-wing leader Benjamin Netanyahu formed a right-wing majority coalition government, the Palestinian opposition calls to halt the peace talks and security coordination with Israel had mounted.

"I wonder why the Authority (in Ramallah) keeps the security coordination in spite of the ongoing daily attacks on our people in the West Bank and a fanatic Zionist government has been formed," said Barhoum.

Gerry Adams Meets With Ismail Haniya~Talks of Peace

Adams said Gaza is an "Open Air Prison" how true!

Adams meets Hamas PM in Gaza

Sinn Féin leader Gerry Adams says he believes there can be progress in the Middle East after talking to Gaza's Hamas prime minister.

Mr Adams had an hour long meeting with Ismail Haniya on Wednesday night.

Mr Adams said he was encouraged by the dialogue. "Mr Haniya told me that Hamas wants a peace agreement," he said.

The meeting came at the end of a day in which Mr Adams met with civic, political and business leaders in Gaza.

He also toured parts of northern Gaza devastated by the Israeli operation in the Palestinian territory in January.

He said: "I welcome the opportunity to engage with so many people.

"I was pleased to speak directly with Mr Haniya. I outlined to him Sinn Féin's view that there should be a complete cessation of all hostilities and armed actions by all sides.

"The fact is that the people of Palestine and the people of Israel are destined to live side by side. I believe that most people want a peaceful accommodation.

"Following my meeting with Mr Haniya I believe that progress is possible.

"As I have said consistently there needs to be a dialogue between the people of Palestine and their leadership and the people of Israel and their leadership.

"That is what worked in Ireland."

On Tuesday, Mr Adams visited Sderot and Kfar Aza - a town and Kibbutz - in southern Israel that have been the targets for rocket attacks from Gaza.

However, before he set off for the Middle East Israeli officials said they would not meet him because he would not rule out meeting Palestinian militants.

They had threatened not to allow him to enter Gaza.

He said he regretted the Israeli government's refusal to meet him VIDEO LINK HERE.

STONES vs TANKS~ RISEN PEOPLE

Author: Irish4Palestine

Ireland-Palestine One Struggle

“I believe I am but another of those wretched Irishmen (Palestinians) born of a risen generation with a deeply rooted and unquenchable desire for freedom” Bobby Sands~ IRA Irish Hungerstriker

Perhaps some people wonder why the name of this blog is “Irish4Palestine” after reading this entry today, some of you will understand.

You see, people who lived through the struggle for freedom in the North of Ireland, know only too well about what we are seeing day after day take place against the Palestinians. Today I read a story about a small Palestinian child who dared to throw stones at Israeli tanks; he was shot for his defiance. Stones against tanks, some things never change. Palestinian teen in critical condition after being shot in head by Israeli forces

Soon I found myself remembering so many names, names of those here in Ireland, who committed those same defiant acts, and just as in Palestine, they were gunned down for throwing stones, or mostly and very simply, just being Irish and and wanting freedom and justice.

Although there have been thousands of names here, a few tend to stand out to me. I will tell the stories of two children, and please notice how identical they are to what is taking place in Palestine. Firstly, I remember Carol Ann Kelly, a 12 year old girl who was returning from a shop after buying milk for a neighbour. She was shot, and later died, from a plastic bullet, as her mother watched from inside the home in horror.

As she was walking back from the shop with friends, two British Army armoured vehicles entered the estate. ‘We could hear them (the soldiers) shouting about the five soldiers who had been killed that day. They shouted 'We will get one of you for our five mates today'. Then there was a shot. I saw her lying on the ground with blood coming from her head...’ and, ‘...her leg was curled up underneath her' She just literally fell on her back and the bag with the carton of milk was lying on the ground.’ Carol Ann’s mother witnessed the shooting from the upstairs window of their home. ...I looked round to see where Carol Ann was and she was just falling back. She went straight down. I stood for a moment or two. I just couldn’t take it in. My son Mark came running down the street and I heard him shouting ‘Oh they’ve shot our Carol Ann, they’ve shot our Carol Ann’.

The ambulance took some time to arrive at the scene due to the actions of other British soldiers mounting a checkpoint at the entrance to the estate, who told the ambulance driver that no one had been hurt, forcing the driver to turn around before he was redirected to the scene by radio. Carol Ann was taken to the Royal Victoria Hospital, where she died without regaining consciousness two days later

No British soldiers were ever charged in connection with the killing of Carol Ann Kelly.
And I remember a little boy, Stephen McConomy 11 years of age, much like the young Palestinian child shot this past Saturday with a plastic bullet.

I’ll be in at half eight,’ were Stephen’s last words to his mother when he left home on the evening of 16 April 1982. Shortly before 8pm Stephen and his friend were standing near the flats watching the antics of a small group of children throwing stones at a British army armoured vehicle, which was parked only yards from where the two boys stood. Civilian witnesses said the area was relatively quiet with only about five or six children between the ages of ten and twelve playing with an Irish flag. The children were trying to place the Irish flag over the front of the British armoured vehicle parked in Fahan Street.

The soldiers in the armoured vehicle began revving the engine as if they were going to charge the children. One of the boys had a stick and was beating the armoured vehicle with it, while other children were trying to pull off riot-shields attached to the side of the vehicle. On the driver’s side of the vehicle a small hatch opened and the muzzle of a plastic bullet gun was pushed through the opening. When the children around the vehicle saw the gun muzzle they ran away towards Rossville Flats. Stephen was standing near the front of the vehicle at the time, his two hands in his pockets, and seeing the gun he turned to walk away. As he did the soldier sitting in the driver’s seat fired the plastic bullet gun through the opening. The impact of the plastic bullet, fired from less than six yards, lifted Stephen onto a grassy bank where he lay unconscious. Seeing the child’s plight two young men rushed to his aid, but before they could reach him they were threatened by the soldiers inside the vehicle that they would be shot if they went near him.

An inquest into the killing of Stephen McConomy was held in June 1983.No British soldiers were ever charged in connection with the killing of Stephen McConomy.
These are only two of a great many, murdered by state sanctioned terrorism. State sanctioned racism and bigotry. The “idea” that some people are human and others are not. Just like the IDF were so proud to wear t-shirts with images of Palestinian pregnant women, with the words “One Shot-Two Kills” written on them, or the shirt with the child, that said “Potential Terrorist” These views are well known to us Irish who also had to fight for our civil rights, equality and freedom. The checkpoint stories, the internment without trail or charges, our people wasting away in British jails. And just like Hamas, our Democratically elected Sinn Fein representatives were not allowed into government. Then there was the murder of our civil rights lawyers, our towns closed down, and all Irish removed or arrested, so that British Loyalists could march through our cities, celebrating our second class citizenship in our own country. Spitting on us as they passed, singing sectarian songs. All Irish removed from the good land, and forced to live in cramped small areas, whilst the British Planters grew crops on our stolen land. Even today there are people who’s families once owned vast acres of farmland, who now drive by and see others living there.

So much is the same between Ireland and Palestine, when I see Palestine, I see Ireland. When I see a Palestinian, I see an Irishman. When I see villages in Gaza, I see West Belfast or Creggan in Derry. When I see the face of a Palestinian child, I recognize what I see in their eyes. They are saying to the world “You will never break me, I exist, I am here, I am proud and I am Palestine!”

It was around the 10th anniversary of the Irish Hungerstrike where 10 IRA men died fighting for freedom. When a family friend had been doing some work in a Palestinian refugee camp in Lebanon. She only spoke English but had been attempting to learn a little Arabic. One day as she was watching a group of young girls playing and she couldn’t help but notice that they were singing some song, over and over again as they skipped. She moved closer to see if she could figure out what they were saying. At first it was difficult, but soon she began to realize what they were saying and it came as a great surprise. These little girls, who had not even been born yet, or were only babies during the Irish Hungerstrike, were ALL repeating the names of EACH Irish hungerstriker, over and over again. They were saying: “ Bobby Sands, Francis Hughes, Raymond McCreesh, Patsy O’Hara, Joe McDonnell, Martin Huson, Kevin Lynch, Kieran Doherty, Thomas McIlwee, Michal Devine “

So, all the way across the world, in another oppressed country like Palestine, people can be inextricably linked through common struggles. This is why the Irish hungerstrikers meant so much to Palestinian people and Lebanese people. It is really quite simple, Bobby Sands, the Irish Hungerstriker said this before he died, read it and think “Palestine” instead of “Ireland.”

I believe and stand by the God-given right of the Irish (Palestinian) nation to sovereign independence, and the right of any Irishman (Palestinian)to assert this right in armed revolution. That is why I am incarcerated, naked and tortured.

Foremost in my tortured mind is the thought that there can never be peace in (Palestine) Ireland until the foreign, oppressive (Israeli) British presence is removed, leaving all the (Palestinian)Irish people as a unit to control their own affairs and determine their own destinies as a sovereign people, free in mind and body, separate and distinct physically, culturally and economically.

I believe I am but another of those wretched (Palestinians)Irishmen born of a risen generation with a deeply rooted and unquenchable desire for freedom. I am dying not just to attempt to end the barbarity of H-Block, or to gain the rightful recognition of a political prisoner, but primarily because what is lost in here is lost for the (Palestine) Republic and those wretched oppressed whom I am deeply proud to know as the 'risen people'.
The “Risen” people, THAT is what we are, and THAT is what they are. They rise up against tanks with stones and refuse to be oppressed and beaten, just like we did in the Battle of the Bogside many years ago. So, Ireland and Palestine are inextricably linked, through the struggle for freedom and an end to oppression. And that is why those little girls knew EVERY one of those names.

For just like in Palestine, so many of our memories and our monuments and our special days, are focused on our dead martyrs or our innocent dead. Like the boy shot on Saturday in the dusty desert of Palestine, like little Carol Ann Kelly and Stephen McConomy also shot by Plastic bullets in a lush green far away land called Ireland. So many deaths, so many funerals, too many to count for both of our countries.

Finally, in the words of Bobby Sands with the word “Ireland” removed and “Palestine” inserted:

“If they aren't able to destroy the desire for freedom, they won't break you. They won't break me because the desire for freedom, and the freedom of the “Palestinian” people, is in my heart. The day will dawn when all the people of “Palestine” will have the desire for freedom to show.
It is then we'll see the rising of the moon.
As for me? Well, I used to cry for Ireland, now I cry for Palestine.
And this, my friends, is why this blog is called “Irish4Palestine”

SMACKDOWN~Obama vs Netanyahu

Oooooooooooooooh, it's just like "thunderdome" two men go in, one comes out LOL, My money is on Obama!!Let the smackdown begin!

CAIRO — US President Barack Obama's team is engaged in preemptive discussions with Democratic congressmen in anticipation of a face-off with Israel’s new far-right government on the two-state peace solution.

"In an unprecedented move, the Obama administration is readying for a possible confrontation with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu by briefing Democratic Congressmen on the peace process,"

"The Obama administration is expecting a clash with Netanyahu over his refusal to support the establishment of a Palestinian state alongside Israel."

Obama wants Netanyahu to honor all commitments made by previous Israeli governments.

Shortly after the hawkish premier refused to support the two-state solution, US administration officials held several meetings with Democratic congressmen.

They discussed disagreements with Tel Aviv over the peace process and creation of a Palestinian state.

"The preemptive briefing is meant to foil the possibility that Netanyahu may try to bypass the administration by rallying support in Congress," said Haaretz.

As the Obama team ready for a diplomatic face-off, many in Israel fear that the far-right government is destroying ties with their country's closest ally.

Yohanan Plesner, a lawmaker from the opposition Kadima party, is particularly concerned about comments by firebrand Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman.

"At such a sensitive time, when Israeli-US ties are about to be redefined, Lieberman is damaging the relationship and putting at risk America's commitment to supporting Israel," Plesner told Yediot Ahronot.

Since taking office only last week, Lieberman has repeatedly claimed that peace talks with Palestinians hit a dead-end.

"The elephant continues to run amok and there is no one to stop him," said Eitan Cabel, a lawmaker for the Labor Party, a member of the coalition government.

"It must be stopped now because the man's lack of control over his mouth causes irreparable harm." source

Israel Cries Wolf (Again)

GREAT article in the New York Times today:

Iran is the center of terrorism, fundamentalism and subversion and is in my view more dangerous than Nazism, because Hitler did not possess a nuclear bomb, whereas the Iranians are trying to perfect a nuclear option.”

Benjamin Netanyahu 2009? Try again. These words were in fact uttered by another Israeli prime minister (and now Israeli president), Shimon Peres, in 1996. Four years earlier, in 1992, he’d predicted that Iran would have a nuclear bomb by 1999.

You can’t accuse the Israelis of not crying wolf. Ehud Barak, now defense minister, said in 1996 that Iran would be producing nuclear weapons by 2004.

Now here comes Netanyahu, in an interview with his faithful stenographer Jeffrey Goldberg of The Atlantic, spinning the latest iteration of Israel’s attempt to frame Iran as some Nazi-like incarnation of evil:

“You don’t want a messianic apocalyptic cult controlling atomic bombs. When the wide-eyed believer gets hold of the reins of power and the weapons of mass death, then the entire world should start worrying, and that is what is happening in Iran.”

I must say when I read those words about “the wide-eyed believer” my mind wandered to a recently departed “decider.” But I’m not going there.

The issue today is Iran and, more precisely, what President Barack Obama will make of Netanyahu’s prescription that, the economy aside, Obama’s great mission is “preventing Iran from gaining nuclear weapons” — an eventuality newly inscribed on Israeli calendars as “months” away.

I’ll return to the ever shifting nuclear doomsday in a moment, but first that Netanyahu interview.

This “messianic apocalyptic cult” in Tehran is, of course, the very same one with which Israel did business during the 1980’s, when its interest was in weakening Saddam Hussein’s Iraq. That business — including sales of weapons and technology — was an extension of Israeli policy toward Iran under the shah.

It’s also the same “messianic apocalyptic cult” that has survived 30 years, ushered the country from the penury of the 1980-88 Iran-Iraq war, shrewdly extended its power and influence, cooperated with America on Afghanistan before being consigned to “the axis of evil,” and kept its country at peace in the 21st century while bloody mayhem engulfed neighbors to east and west and Israel fought two wars.

I don’t buy the view that, as Netanyahu told Goldberg, Iran is “a fanatic regime that might put its zealotry above its self-interest.” Every scrap of evidence suggests that, on the contrary, self-interest and survival drive the mullahs.

Yet Netanyahu insists (too much) that Iran is “a country that glorifies blood and death, including its own self-immolation.” Huh?

On that ocular theme again, Netanyahu says Iran’s “composite leadership” has “elements of wide-eyed fanaticism that do not exist right now in any other would-be nuclear power in the world.” No, they exist in an actual nuclear power, Pakistan. Israel’s nuclear warheads, whose function is presumably deterrence of precisely powers like Iran, go unmentioned, of course.

Netanyahu also makes the grotesque claim that the terrible loss of life in the Iran-Iraq war (started by Iraq) “didn’t sear a terrible wound into the Iranian consciousness.” It did just that, which is why Iran’s younger generation seeks reform but not upheaval; and why the country as a whole prizes stability over military adventure.

Arab states, Netanyahu suggests, “fervently hope” that America will, if necessary, use “military power” to stop Iran going nuclear. My recent conversations, including with senior Saudi officials, suggest that’s wrong and the longstanding Israeli attempt to convince Arab states that Iran, not Israel, is their true enemy will fail again.

What’s going on here? Israel, as it has for nearly two decades, is trying to lock in American support and avoid any disadvantageous change in the Middle Eastern balance of power, now overwhelmingly tilted in Jerusalem’s favor, by portraying Iran as a monstrous pariah state bent on imminent nuclear war.

A semblance of power balance is often the precondition for peace. Iran was left out of the Madrid and Oslo processes, with disastrous results. But that’s a discussion for another day.

What’s critical right now is that Obama view Netanyahu’s fear-mongering with an appropriate skepticism, rein him in, and pursue his regime-recognizing opening toward Tehran. The president should read Trita Parsi’s excellent “Treacherous Alliance” as preparation.

The core strategic shift of Obama’s presidency has been away from the with-us-or-against-us rhetoric of the war on terror toward a rapprochement with the Muslim world as the basis for isolating terrorists.

That’s unsustainable if America or Israel find themselves at war with Muslim Persians as well as Muslim Arabs, and if Netanyahu’s intense-eyed attempt to suck America into a perpetuation of war-on-terror thinking prevails.

The only way to stop Iran going nuclear, and encourage reform of a repressive regime, is to get to the negotiating table. There’s time. Those “months” are still a couple of years. What Iran has accumulated is low-enriched uranium. You need highly-enriched uranium for a bomb. That’s a leap.

Israeli hegemony is proving a kind of slavery. Passage to the Promised Land involves rethinking the Middle East, starting in Iran.

Israeli Settlers ATTACK Palestinians~IDF Shoots At Victims

Saw this on tele this AM, disgraceful. Racist ARMED Zionist settlers, come into a Palestinian village, attack and shoot at people, the Israeli Army comes (not to help those being attacked mind you!) and the IDF then defend the settlers when the Palestinians throw stones back at the ARMED settlers! Several Palestinians were injured when israeli Racist Immoral Nazi soldiers fired metal coated plastic bullets AND Live rounds at them.I look forward to the day when those racist murdering land stealing bigots are removed, kicking and screaming as they are dragged back to IsraHELL where they belong.

Villagers hurt in West Bank clash

At least eight Palestinian have been injured in clashes near an Israeli settlement

Palestinians say the clashes broke out after armed Israeli settlers from Beit Ayin attacked homes in Beit Safa, a nearby Palestinian village.

Israeli forces say they fired live bullets at the legs of stone-throwers.

A hospital in the West Bank town of Hebron said one Palestinian was seriously injured and another three were moderately hurt.
Doctors said one of the injured was hit in the neck with a live round.

The Israeli military said Palestinians had begun throwing stones at settlers from Bat Ayin in the southern West Bank, who had gone to a hilltop to say a special sun blessing prayer in an event which occurs once every 28 years.

Palestinian residents of Beit Safa said a group of settlers, some armed, had entered their village and begun throwing rocks at homes and damaging cars.

They said Israeli forces had arrived and used tear gas, rubber coated bullets and live ammunition to end the disturbance.

An Israeli military spokesperson said "crowd dispersing means" were used initially, but when the crowd became more violent, troop used live ammunition to target the lower body parts of some people in the crowd, and "identified hits".

In 2002, three residents of the settlement were given long jail terms for trying to blow up a Palestinian girls' school in Jerusalem.

Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank are considered illegal under international law, although Israel disputes this.

The violence comes amid concerns over a clash of opinion between the new Israeli government, led by right-winger Binyamin Netanyahu, and Barack Obama's US administration.

Mr Obama has stressed his commitment to a two-state solution, but Mr Netanyahu does not back the creation of a sovereign Palestinian state.
His Foreign Minister, far-right politician Avigdor Lieberman, said on Tuesday that peace talks with the Palestinians had reached a "dead end".

UPDATE~Gerry Adams IN GAZA NOW

Adams urges talks on Gaza visit

Sinn Féin leader Gerry Adams urged Israelis and Palestinians to hold direct talks as he visited Gaza on Wednesday.

Israeli officials are unhappy about Mr Adams' visit as he has not ruled out meeting officials from Hamas.

Hamas, which rules Gaza, is listed as a terrorist organization by Israel, the US and EU.

Mr Adams toured parts of northern Gaza devastated by war that Israel waged in the Palestinian territory this year.

He said: "The obligation is that what happened here doesn't happen again,"
"And that means there needs to be negotiations and that means that the leadership in Israel and the leadership in the Palestinian territories need to be involved in a direct dialogue.

"The international community, particularly the US, need to be actively encouraging that."

Mr Adams met John Ging, director of operations in Gaza for the UN Refugee and Works Agency, which supports Palestinian refugees.

He also visited an ice cream factory which was destroyed during the war and spoke with its owner.

Before Mr Adams set off for the Middle East Israeli officials said they would not meet him because he would not rule out meeting Palestinian militants.

They had threatened not to allow him to enter Gaza.

The Sinn Féin leader, who last visited the Middle East in 2006, said he regretted the Israeli government's refusal to meet him.

"As the leader of a party which was censored and demonised and whose members were killed, I see dialogue between all sides as key to building a successful peace process," he said.

"So I will meet with all sides and urge all sides to end all armed actions and to engage in meaningful dialogue.

"I believe there should be a complete cessation of all hostilities and freedom of movement for everyone."

Mr Adams said there were "similarities" between the Northern Ireland peace process and the Middle East, but "there are also significant differences".

"But it is clear that finding solutions will require leadership on both sides, and a willingness to take risks, initiatives, and compromise," he said.

Racist Israel Bans Gerry Adams from Entering Gaza

The leader of the 2nd largest party in the North of Ireland. A man who could be used to help bring about peace. A man who was involved in the Irish peace process and without whom we would not have one. A man who has worked closely with George Mitchell, Bill Clinton, Tony Blair, and Isarel does not want to let him into Gaza. For the background on this read my post HEREWhere they attempted to force Adams into saying he would not meet with HAMAS while in Gaza. newsflash.... Hamas were duly ELECTED in GAZA so they are the Gazan Government.

Israel bars N Ireland leader from Gaza
Northern Ireland political leader Gerry Adams will not be allowed to enter Gaza this week because he planned to meet officials from Hamas, the militant group that rules the territory, an Israeli official said on Tuesday.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Yigal Palmor said Israel "would not help Adams meet with Hamas terror leaders". Hamas is listed as a terror organisation by Israel, the US and EU.

A spokesman for Adams, Ted Howell, said Adams and his delegation planned to visit Gaza on Wednesday. He said, "we will meet with whoever wants to meet us."

Again you should read THIS for the background. Adams wouldn't be threatened, so now he is "banned" by racists and murderers. Can't wait for Israel to be charged with war crimes. Rest assured I will celebrate for a month!

Psssst, Hey Israel, US Govt Says Knock it Off

well now Biden is chiming in, telling Israel they would be "ill advised" to attack Iran. This is starting to look like Obama may not be in the mood to play war games with israel.

Biden: New Israel would be 'ill-advised' to attack Iran

WASHINGTON (AFP) — US Vice President Joe Biden said Tuesday the new Israeli government of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu would be "ill-advised" to attack Iran, but stressed that it was unlikely to do so.

"I don't believe that Prime Minister Netanyahu would do that. I think he would be ill-advised to do that," Biden said in an interview with CNN, when asked about possible Israeli strikes on Iranian nuclear sites.

FRAUD CHARGES LOOM~Lieberman Going DOWN

Well it looks like Lieberman is going down! I thought there was something very "odd" about all of this. I wrote HERE that I thought this could be an effort to get rid of him as he will be too much trouble for the new Israeli Government. So I have to say "I told you so" LOL

Lieberman Questioned Again, Charges Likely

(IsraelNN.com) Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman was questioned for five hours on Tuesday, the third in less than a week as part of an ongoing police investigation. Police said on Sunday that Lieberman is likely to face charges of money laundering, fraud, bribery and breach of trust.

The new Foreign Minister, who also heads the Yisrael Beiteinu party, will face at least one more round of questioning before the case is closed. Once police gather enough evidence, they will turn the case over to the State Prosecutor's Office.

Law enforcement officials have told Israeli media that they have already gathered hard evidence to support the allegations against Lieberman. If government attorneys decide to indict him, the controversial Foreign Minister may be forced to suspend himself from office.

MUST READ~ What if YOU were a young Palestinian?

All I can say is this op-ed in the Daily Mail by Andrew Alexander is a MUST READ! Although I do not agree with his use of the phrase "terrorist" in the context that he uses it. I believe the state of Israel is a terrorist state, the sad fact that it is a "state" does not make it incapable of being considered as a "terrorist"

Anyhow, the op-ed piece is below:

The easiest thing to do with terrorists is to rage at them. Or to declare, mindlessly, that we must strengthen 'the war on terrorism'. Both are moral self-indulgence and mental idleness.

Suppose that you are a young man living in Gaza, dominated by refugees or their descendants whose original homeland was what is now Israel. You may well have been brought up on stories, sometimes exaggerated, of a home where your forebears lived in security.

With squalid conditions in the refugee camps and little hope of good education or employment, your frustration and rage is easily directed at Israel, the U.S. as its relentless backer and probably us, too, as Washington's poodlelike allies. Or maybe you live in the West Bank, once part of Palestine. Since the 1967 war, Israel has left the West Bank littered with 600 checkpoints which divide even families.

This side of the border you will see ever-growing Israeli settlements. The details of the sheer illegality and subterfuge involved are readily provided by the protesting Jewish organisation Peace Now (peacenow.org).
Our young Palestinian will also remember so painfully Israel's punitive expedition against Gaza supposedly to crush the governing party, Hamas, whose military wing launched sporadic, but not very effective, rockets on Israel. Yet this only begins to touch on the millions in the Middle East with deep grievances.

Significantly, Hamas and Hezbollah had electoral triumphs following Israeli attacks. In Afghanistan, refugees from the Taliban have had to face returning to a land where the seven-year war against the invader has reinvigorated that awful organisation. Throughout the Middle East, tales can be heard of relatives or friends who have fallen victim to the U.S. and its allies, including Israel, over recent decades, often accompanied by grim details about trigger-happy U.S. troops, ideal villains.

Our young man in Gaza or the West Bank grows up dangerously full of frustration and anger. His religion seems a stabilising force in an unstable world.

Those with deep grievances, actual or inherited, number many millions. Just think about the scale of this. There are about 300 million Muslim Arabs (plus Iran). Pakistan, now being drawn into the conflict, adds many more.

If only a tiny fraction takes the Jihadist path, we face a formidable and, alas, growing host. Can we be surprised that Islamic extremists find no difficulty in recruitment?

We are very stupid - as stupid as Chamberlain at Munich - to ignore the scale or nature of the menace.

There will be no curb to terrorism until we stop waging wars on Muslim countries and, even more, until the problem of the Arab-Israeli conflict is ended or at least ameliorated.

Washington holds all the levers. It is the source of huge economic and military aid to Israel. President Clinton nearly achieved a settlement, but was balked at the last moment by the then Palestinian leadership.

At least he tried. Other presidents have declined to pressure Israel into the necessary concessions and Britain's efforts has amounted to little more than pious pleading.

Of course, the Zionist lobby in the U.S. and elsewhere is powerful. In the American case, Jewish Zionism is augmented by various Evangelical Churches that excitedly grasp at the state of Israel as fulfiling Old Testament prophecies.

In the propaganda battle here as in the U.S., Zionists are adept at playing the anti-semitic card, so familiar to fair-minded journalists. The BBC in particular is easily scared.

Developments within Israel are grim. Its crazy system of proportional representation gives every loony some power in coalition governments. Hence we have the notorious extremist Avigdor Lieberman in the post of Foreign Minister.

Israeli organisations such as Peace Now, which once organised a 400,000-strong demonstration against the Lebanon intervention in 1982, face an uphill battle. Yet the chance for peace does not depend on Israeli political manoeuvring.

President Obama has the real, unquestionable power to impose a settlement. How hard he tries affects everybody, particularly us. SOURCE
